  1. Well, it's foundamentally a mod-related problem because the vanilla games Always use 1 texture for 1 vehicle. But the game is made so it can recognize as many textures per vehicle / object and mixes them randomly. Looks like that in the process the game remembers what textures it picked from the available lot but it picks them again whenever it has to switch to another LOD model.
  2. Thanks for sharing Panzer, now it's time to open the door to those suits knocking...
  3. Yes, 120mm mortar = 122 howitzer also in terms of tests/results in game.
  4. Nice! Did you use some special effect? Looks like a dirty camera display.
  5. I have never seen a damage model display from BFC, maybe we will never see one. But I hope some tweaks will be done to the vehicles top armor, if it's needed.
  6. I had an interesting situation during a PBEM, but what I thought about doing I didn't do, so could not experiment. Anyway, it could be interesting to set up a long range test scenario, order a Khriza to shoot and (during real time), order it a movement, such as a reverse, down a hill, or behind a house, and see if the missiles continue their path or drop.
  7. As many times happens in these situations, you are assuming that your personal taste regarding a mission is what's "right" to think about it. Le'ts take this phrase of yours:รน "but then there is mission 2 where it's boring night recon with an even more boring force composition (Tigrs and recon troops), with 3/4 of the map being empty and real fighting not kicking in until an hour into the whole thing, and then it's almost over" Personally, I find this very interesting, because it's an as best as possible approximation of the tactical reality of a recon. So, who's right and who's wrong? Nobody, because it's down to personal tastes. Personally, I find this kind of approach (the mission above is a good example) the most interesting and I like it a lot. Not a case CM games are thought in a way that these kind of mission are part of a campaign. The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong in any way. It's just your personal refusal. Asking for something different because you say this is "boring" is not really any kind of criticism or construction of a discussion, it's juse venting out your tastes, and if you don't like the CM games you are not forced to play them. Anyway, I am glad CM games follow their traditions, and missions such as the one you described are there. That's what makes CM games in my opinion. If you find it boring because the force composition if tigrs and recon troops I am pretty sure that I can say CM games are not really your thing... As regarding how you phrase your thoughts, well, it's down to you, I know what's about map making and I spent enough time on the editor to make me say that no CM campaign mission was the result of little effort during a night. Personally I don't really look forward in making any kind of discussions with people so rude behind a screen such as you, so suit yourself as you think it's best. Considering your attitude towards people you don't know and diminishing their work like you did using an arrogant and elitarist point of view, I have no real interest in participating to this arrogant discussion of yours, so I won't post here anymore.
  8. I am not 100% sure. But when there's more than 1 option of a texture for a vehicle the game will pick one and keep with that for the closer (best) LOD model, that is one of the 3d models available for the vehicle (there are 3 to 5 in total for each IIRC), while it will randomly pick another from the batch for the other LODs. Take this example: this mod randomply adds desert yellow boxes to the ERA setup, after loading the game will pick a selection and show it on the closest LOD model: Now, if you increase distance another LOD model is used, but it also picks another random choice for the texture: A note: this happens only during a battle, if you look at this in the scenario editor this problem does not show up. So, for some reason, the game re-selects a texture from the available sets if a new LOD model is used, but it will remember which is the original selection for the first LOD model (the closer one).
  9. Hmm, did you make sure that all pixels of the Alpha are 100% filled? And there are no semi or partial transparent pixels?
  10. Do those numbers (25mm) take into account the angle of the armor?
  11. Thanks for sharing MikeyD, after some tests I have seen that 152mm rounds have a very high percentage of kill against the Bradley (maybe there are cases when a 152mm didn't penetrate, but these seem to be the minority and they are out of my personal experience). Ayway, what seems in discussion here is more like something regarding weakspots. Just like a tank might have a weakspot modeled (like in WW2 titles) or a partial armor not covered by ERA (T-72B3 front turret), we wonder if the Bradley top hull armor is modeled as a single thick slab of armor or if there are some parts with less to no armor. In particular I'm referring to the engine ventilation shaft and the driver's hatch. The first one seems especially fragile, maybe the covering mesh is capable of detonating the 120mm mortar/howitzer round, but given the speed of impact I would imagine a massive damage to the vehicle. Another example of potential weakspot: how thick is the large hatch on top of the troops compartment? maybe it's well armored I just don't know (same for the driver's hatch). The only part I am pretty confident is the engine ventilation deck, as reported by Stagler, which really is a weakspot, because at least I know how internal combustion engines work and what kind of stuff is down there.
  12. Considering that people who made the campaigns and some of the missions also read this forums I am sure they could use some enlightment on how exactly the missions "felt like being hacked toghether in one evening". Personally, I would have chosen a different set of words (but I also have a different opinion on the campaigns); those you used don't really fit the constructive criticism idea upon which the forum is based on.
  13. IIRC the black smoke is the older russian version.
  14. I have no problem with reality, that is 25 to 35 FPS with a large scenario and a tank battalion on it. Never said anything different. What I really don't like is people like you who write things like "battlefront believes", or made up things like "system requirements suggest". You can't speak for Other people or BFC company, unless you have an ego so large that lets you conmfortably rest on a throne while writing on BFC forums.
  15. You should grow some skin, we are simply discussing. One thing is to positively say something true, another is to make up things and bash for no reason. Like linking the number of FPS with the system requirements posted officially.
  16. Another thing you say, nice to see that you tend to infer information only you compute out of system requirements of a software + you speak for other people of a software producting company. The game can be optimized even more, the engine can be improved in so many ways, but when people like you start making up stuff from personal experience of any sort, or blindly say what's the standard CM games should be for their own personal superior sake is a general behaviour that disgust me.
  17. Then I must have spent some time in magic lands since I play CMBS with no problems.
  18. What you say is something only you imagine. It is simply not correct to say that requirements of any software "suggest" something that is not there.
  19. From the selling page: System Requirements MINIMUM: Operating System: Windows Vista Processor: Pentium IV 1.8 GHz or equivalent speed AMD processor Video Card: 256 Megabyte VRAM or better and must support 1024x768 or higher resolution in OpenGL Sound Card: DirectX 10 compatible Sound Card System Memory 2 GB RAM Hard Drive Space: 3.5 GB Other requirements: DVD drive (for hardcopy version only) The game does not work in a virtualized environment (virtual machine) System Requirements SUGGESTED: Operating System: Windows Win7/Win8 Processor: Pentium IV 2.8 GHz or equivalent speed AMD processor or better DirectX 12 compatible Sound Card Video Card: 1 GB VRAM or better and must support 1024x768 or higher resolution in OpenGL System Memory 4 Gigabyte or more RAM Hard Drive Space: 5 GB Other requirements: DVD drive (for hardcopy version only) The game does not work in a virtualized environment (virtual machine) The "suggestion" must be somewhere inside your mind only.
  20. Hmm, try with the editor, maybe there's one.
  21. Anyway those spitting on CM campaigns never even clicked on the "editor" button in the main menu. No wonder they can't even appreciate what campaigns and missions truly are. I'm sorry, but all the respect I have for those making and testing campaigns and mission is the same quantity of disrespect I have for those spitting on campaigns.
  22. Different game types, the fact is you pretend a game to run at 60 when there is no visual difference between 30 and 60 FPS in a game such as an RTS. I am glad the developers know better and invest their time in other things rather than getting a double frame rate. The original question of the poll was interesting, now it's turned into a mindless bashing based on personal taste and restricted views.
