  1. Military is not army, air force, navy. The KGB was not the intel and strategic 'arm'.
  2. Nothing sudden about it, has been warned about all the way through, and did not begin with this president.
  3. Talking to him like that over and over does you discredit. If you find his posts of no worth, move on. With regard to the subject, I seem to remember from a patch or the manual or something that some of the Russian/UA laser designators work only outside buildings.
  4. Probably saw an opportunity to regain some national credibility after we had a British civilian murdered during the attempted murder of two others (one a subject, one a visitor) with chemical weapons, without commensurate public consequence. Not to mention the more he can seem like Churchill at the moment the better he can fend off his rejection by the country as the odious tip of an arseberg. Yesterday about 16.30 UTC something like 5-7 Aeroflot airliners took off from Moscow, flew to Kaliningrad, did some racetrack patterns, then flew back. I'd love to know what that was about. All I can think of are: Pilot/soldier training for a possible upcoming task, to better get the lay of the land ELINT/ISR Dropping stuff/people (though some patterns were over the water enclosed by the artificial piers) A distraction It's amazing what you can see on flightradar24!
  5. WRONG, it is the remains of the English cricket team. Nice. The targeting reminds me of some of the firing solutions used for straight-run torpedoes.
  6. I would like to say I am surprised how easily people offer up their warped views and justifications, without the minimal effort it takes to consider their magnitude and logical consistency, not to mention the social penalty when this is done in public. Here you have made equivalence between the SS, who had a clear genocidal goal, and the Israeli state of today, which obviously does not, and is the only democratic state in the entire middle east, which came into being through terrorism, revolution, displacement etc. during the rule of the British, creating one of the worlds longest and most bitter ongoing conflicts. You have done it out of nowhere, as the discussion is about the SS and has nothing to do with Israel. It indeed is suspicious that mention of the SS spurs you into criticism of Israel. You know you don't need to support the nazis to be critical of Israel right? Nor hate the Jews? Discovering within yourself an anger toward Israel does not in fact indicate that the SS of the past has been misjudged. I should note that 'goy' means nation, and has been used in the past to refer to the jews as well as gentiles, though modern usage has it for the latter, it is not derogative by nature I believe. Lastly I should also note that the nazis supported Zionism.
  7. 'We don't have to see nazism and racism in every little thing do we?' No, indeed. But if we can't at least suspect nazism in a guy dressing as an SS guy all the time and enjoying it, not to mention all the people in the stream mentioning the letters A and H, then we might as well be blind. There are those who over-react to certain things, indeed. I am simply making the observation that you have to be seriously lacking in human sympathy to dress up and enjoy playing a member of such a famously murderous organisation. There are people here who remember those killed in the name of the ideology whose badge he wears for fun. Him saying he has no political agenda is nonsense, at some point you cannot separate the two. The uniform means nothing without the ideology.
  8. Ok, happy new year indeed to the developers, sincerely. We have more content upcoming this year for many of the modules, good news surely. And a performance focused, free engine upgrade/patch is forthcoming, but may be some time. I have to say, I have for years now yearned not for more content, but a better engine. As it stands, I am honestly not assured that any work at all has been done on one, and that surely it won't be seen for another year, where for these hence I have been in faith that it has been slowly coming together in the background, and that we might here finally see some belated screens of roads at a 10 degree angle and other such wonders. Final Blitzkrieg being referred to as 'the final CM2 Family of games' coming to steam is the only allusion toward it, but my heart fears that will simply mark the beginning of earnest development. I implore you, employ those elves!
  9. I won't directly accuse this man of being a neo-nazi. He seems to be entirely uncritical of the SS, even recanting his earlier view that they were 'just a bunch of murderers forced to fight' in another video: apparently 'things are not always as they seem', as he has learnt they were not forced to fight. In apparently ignoring the political, idelogical, and genocidal side of the organisation and the war, instead of solemnly and soberly decrying it, or reflecting on what it means for whatever honour or virtue the members believed themselves to have, he does a disservice to their victims. I am deeply suspicious of anyone who takes such an interest in roleplaying as a member of such an organisation, other than for precisely the length of time necessary for a documentary, film or reenactment, before taking the uniform off for fear of being sullied by it. The live stream seems well attended by neo-nazis. I wouldn't be inclined to give this channel time or views.
  10. Ironically, the subheading of the general discussion forum says 'no politics'
  11. No thanks, at least for me the political/strategic/tactical/historical/doctrine discussion is all part of the same stuff and is what keeps this part of the forum alive. To break off the political part would fragment discussion that is on the same subject. There is plenty of room on an otherwise quiet forum. People keep discussing Russian moves because Russia keeps making moves, it is not out of proportion (bang on subject in my opinion, it is precisely what the game is about after all) and I like to hear about it. Doesn't mean we hate Russians, nor should anyone feel victimised by it. Or maybe like in Transnistria, LPR, DPR, and Russia proper, if we don't see it the same way as the Russian government we can go to jail? I don't mean to attack you personally Husker, I value these discussions, and criticism of the behaviour of Russia, a rogue state if the phrase is to have any meaning. Feel free to criticise other states, as it pertains to these discussions! It all leads to more learning. Criticism at all levels of institution is essential to their wellbeing. Furthermore, political discussion on the topic of Crimea, etc., apart from being something I personally like to see, is specifically sanctioned in this post: https://community.battlefront.com/topic/116643-politics-discussion-and-black-sea/ This is found on this forum, very often! I don't think quoting things at each other usually gets very far, it is perhaps better to share each person's ideas and let people absorb what they will from them, but if you two are suggesting people don't want that discussion here, I want it noted I'm on the other side. A mistake in my opinion, the discussion (resulting in the premise being rejected, due to being based on an unreliable source, nevertheless prompting some interesting posts) is clearly focused on Ukraine and the Crimea situation, and belongs in general discussion as much as the T-34 videos do! Again political discussion of states moves are specifically allowed in this forum as mentioned above, and have made this place the most interesting part of the forums by far during the... dry spell.
  12. [Edit: Thanks for the article.] I have seen Germany criticised for the pipeline - giving Russia leverage over Europe. I always wondered if it was more about trying to stabilise the Russo-European relationship by making them reliant on each other. Am I wrong? Is it more to do with just needing the gas, not wanting nuclear power or what? [Edit 2: I also heard it might just be corruption on the German side... with a guy who works for Gazprom. Surely if that's true though it couldn't be the only factor.] [Edit 3: Part 1: https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Strategic-Misdirection-An-Alternate-Framework-for-Understanding-Russia’s-Play-in-Ukraine.pdf?x91208 Part three is yet to be released I believe.
  13. Not this one, it's an old scala that I replaced the tubes on, and was never very loud. I took out the boards to see if there was something wrong and to re-solder them, and it's sat waiting for me to do that a good few years.
  14. Yes, I want to see - sounds pretty cool, especially the Hind. I have a 1:72 Harrier here that my brother got me the other year I haven't got around to, along with all the other stuff lying around (tube amp I'm looking at you). I used to do a bit of modelling. Nothing professional. Tits and teeth etc...
  15. Hopefully indeed, it is interesting nonetheless to re-read the thread and the one before that it referenced (https://community.battlefront.com/topic/137296-will-russia-attack-ukraine-in-september/), written I think back in April or thereabouts(!). Talking about JSTARS, the UK is/was/has sold off their retired Sentinel fleet (SAR capable according to the linked article) to the US as a stopgap replacement until JSTARS sucessor comes along: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/43184/unwanted-british-sentinel-radar-planes-to-be-picked-up-by-us-army-report
  16. Thanks John. I found three volumes of the lectures in pdf: https://fuldapocalypsefiction.com/2021/11/22/review-the-voroshilov-lectures/
  17. Direct fire may be more effective shot for shot, but that is no replacement for flexible, high volume, long range, high calibre, unexpected, indirect fire. Would be interested to see the study though.
  18. Yes, and then their field of view seems to be passed on to subordinate units when it comes to artillery.
  19. Hmm it's a pretty cool idea to have an IFV which doubles as your mortar battery, but it would have to know exactly where it was to be effective, and I guess you have to choose between direct fire support or mortars, unless the practise is the 3rd company in a battalion stays back and does it while waiting to become the second echelon... just speculation by someone without much knowlege on the subject though.
  20. As an aside, I found that you can assign UAVs to the highest HQ and subordinate units (including FOs) should be able to call artillery within observed areas while HQ gets up to the minute recon.
