  1. This FM is 1 page. It reads: "Just find the CAV Scouts"
  2. This is done for many reasons. 1. It shows the enemy we're not afraid to get into their sector and hang out. 2. It gives a good assembly area to operate out of and allows forces to react faster to incidents in sector. 3. (very important) It builds faith in the locals and gives them added protection and also gives them a way to give us info. I can tell you that on a first hand basis that we had many locals coming to our outpost in Baghdad to give us information on local activity. It would never come down to that. We would never allow the bad guys to have that much control.
  3. 1. It's not a tank 2. Customs are a pain in my ass. Imagine trying to perfectly clean a Stryker thats been in combat for 15 months.
  4. Yeah seriously. I wouldnt want to wear all that **** on me. Wearing Night Vision monocular's are bad enough.
  5. Lets see an M1 try to do that. <mounts Stryker and hauls ass>
  6. Oh, Its all good. Our NCO's have all kinds of creative ways to adjust Soldiers like that.
  7. 19K Welcome to the forum. I'm at Fort Lewis now (3rd Bde / 1-14 CAV). I'll never go to tanks after deploying with the Stryker. Combat Schoolbus all the way.
  8. I dont understand the hype with a Marine modual. Same nation, old equipment, and of course no Strykers.
  9. any F ield A artillery G uys around? heh. Can U.S. artillery defeat Soviet armor? OF course it can!
  10. Might as well include anti-sniper kits on the Strykers and Hmmv's too.
  11. I see this picture and think... 'EXTEND TO THE LEFT - MARCH'
  12. Two books to check out.. Thunder Run Heavy Metal Both about the lead element - a tank troop of 3rd ID. Good first person accounts of engagements all the way up to their drive into the heart of Baghdad. Funny to read this stuff and actually be here in Baghdad to see the landmarks.
  13. You would NEVER drop equipment and run. Especially a Javelin AT system. Thats one big sensative item right there.
  14. Holy crap. Small world! SFC Perri is my PSG. 3rd platoon A Troop. I hate to break it to you but they had to disband Thunder. They had some issues, but the good part is that they gave all the scout platoons the remnants and therefore we have much more dismounts to work with now. Dont fret though, they're rebanding once we redeploy. Sanchez has been working at headquraters for a while now, and the last guy SFC Tangalin who is now also at Headquarters. SMaj Shover is still around but is PCS'ing, as wel as 1SGt Austins and most of our chain of command at Squadron when we get back. I got a few buddies in 5th Bde. Know a 2LT Trimble or 2LT Gummeringer? Both really good friends of mine. small world
  15. We're not red. Just put a mag in for the photos. Would look pretty stupid if we were all standing there with no mags in.
  16. Just a few from the other day The infamous cross sabers of Baghdad My platoon's Alpha Section (I'm in the back) My platoon.
  17. Sudden Strike used to have a message-board type IP listing. It would list the game, the player's name, the time the game was posted, etc. It would time out and delete postings every 30 minutes, but the overall concept worked great! Maybe we can go for that sort of thing here.
  18. Was on an operation and some dude had this in his house. Good condition too . with serial #'s
  19. ^ He didnt spend a dime. Thats all issued stuff. You guys need to take the blinders off. The article posted by the original poster was about a guy in the RESERVES. Its practically a different Army.
  20. Correct on the M16 part. However, each PLATOON has a designated marksman team. My recon platoon has 2x M14's. Both my junior and senior scouts have one on their Stryker.
  21. I dont think its that black&white anymore. [/QB]</font>
