  1. It has nothing to do with AI, man. Its about scripting and being able to edit paramaters in your scenario.
  2. Thanks. Thats pretty sh*tty. Anyone ever play Steel Beasts? Best (in terms of SIMPLE and effective) script/scenario editor. I would hope that Battlefront follow suit with it. A few little things would make a big difference.New terrain objectives such as CLEAR instead of 'occupy'. And a way to end scenarios.
  3. I did NOT score a victory even though I had destroyed the resistance and held the road. I was pretty bummed. Lost like 30 guys too. Went back to play it again last night. Changed my strategy up a little bit too. Disregarded the collateral damage. Just called in mortar fire on the whole damn place, including the mosque. Had my gun trucks on line just rattling the place with 50cal. Then moved my dismounts in along the left flank. Cleared the little resistance remaining. Secured the road and had about 10 minutes remaining in the scenario. Low and behold it didnt say I WON, but said 'Unconventional Minor Defeat' or something to that matter.
  4. Is there any way to end a scenario OTHER than through time? I'd like to end a scenario based on either points achieved, or objectives. Is it possible?
  5. The post wasnt a gripe. I didnt mean for you to go changing stuff. I thought it was a damn good mission. I was just overall upset with the sniper thing..They shouldnt have to be set on 'elite' or 'crack' to be dropping guys at 300m. Game flaw, not map.

  7. I got around to playing this map for the first time, last night. My GOD. There were times when I was actually yelling at my laptop. "GET IN THE DAMN BULDING!" "SHOOT AT HIM!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Is it me or do US Army snipers totally SUCK in game? If you have an M110 SASS with a 10x scope, there's no reason why you should miss a 300m shot. Even an UNTRAINED 'sniper' could make that hit. Hell I'm an officer and even I've made 400m shots with an ACOG and an M4. Its very frustrating. Other than that, pretty damn intense scenario. Those damn Milan missles were firing at my dismount squads. There were several times that I lost 75% of a squad to a missle. Just when I got a foot hold on the western side of the city, I felt as if there was an endless supply of insurgents surging on me. Pretty intense scenario. Just a few changes I would make. Maybe more airpower..In reality, in a fight that big you've given a large pool of resources..in other words, your arty doesnt go 'empty' Pretty funny that the brief says no collateral damage, especially with the mosque. Hahahaha. First thing I did was call in 2x A10's on that f*cker.
  8. Ok. I got the setup zones working (thanks guys!) now I just need a good ending. I wish you could end a map based on terrain objectives. IE - If I captured Objective A, and Objective B then the scenario ends. I set the win conditions to be if Blue Enemy Casualties reaches 90%. So basically if red loses 90% of their guys, you win. Not exactly what I wanted, but I guess that works. I just hate playing whack-a-mole, clearing a whole city and looking for a few guys. I want the map to end when I've captured the two objectives. Any insight on this?
  9. Hmm. Not sure how I feel about that. I ****-talk the Bradley alot, but I still respect the vehicle for its capabilities. Someone with Stars on their chest is trying to come up with a 1-size fits all solution. I dont think its the right answer. Dont get me wrong. I'm all for MORE Stryker units, but it's apples and oranges. Stryker Brigade's have done great for the current fight in Iraq, but this isnt the end-all. There will be another conflict, in which we will need the heavy cav. I dont think we should be hanging up the tanker boots just yet. The Army really needs to re-evaluate this MRAP program. I'm telling you, this is a HORRIBLE vehicle. Its great that it protects Soldiers from IED's, but you CANNOT fight from the vehicle.
  10. The MRAP was designed for fat, lazy Soldiers who want to go on 'patrol' but dont want to get out of their vehicle. No kidding! I can say that, because I'm a Soldier and I'm often in an MRAP (not to my pleasure) You want a wheeled armored vehicle...STRYKER is your answer. At least you can fight from it.

I did play some of it last night, was very difficult, and those BMP-3's dont just burn, then freakin EXPLODE when hit by an RPG-7. T62's are no better. HA
  12. Trying to set a terrain objective with a link to reinforcements. I want my guys to Assault OBJ A, and get reinforcements when they take it. 1) Which terrain objective modifier do I use? 'touch', 'destroy', or 'occupy'. It seems that 'occupy' doesnt work or is not clearly defined. I THOUGHT 'destroy' meant to destroy all enemy forces within the objective, but I'm thinking thats not the case after testing it out. And I dont want to use 'touch' because that means I can take the objective without killing the enemy...in that case its not really 'taking the objective' 2) Reinforcements linked to an objective....All I see in the scenario editor are reinforcements linked with preset times.. any way to change this? Thanks in advance. BTW. I'm working on a Red Army vs Red Uncon mission where the Red Army Mech commander (BMP3's) is tasked with cleaning up an insurgent-held part of a city. Trying to link in a T-62 tank platoon as reinforcements when Objective 1 is taken. I'm having tons of trouble with the setup of the insurgents (AI tools isnt working. I'm setting their 'setup order', but they're not setting up there).
  13. ToW1 pathfinding was enough to make me un-install the game and never look back. Talk about a pain in the butt! I downloaded ToW2 with very low hopes, but was surprised. My biggest gripes with the game 1) NO SQUADS...??? Whats up with that? 2) Lack of missions, lack of units. I was actually SHOCKED at how few units were in ToW2 However, I do enjoy the realistic engagements, the attention to detail in the models and the terrain is great. CMSF has Strykers, enough said.
  14. Yes, but the tactics have not. Mass Maneuver Surprise Three principals of war that Rommel played well in his victories. It amazes me how Rommel sustained in the desert. Serving in Iraq, we are almost crippled if the air conditioner doesnt work! (ok not THAT bad) I cant imagine Soldiers going for months at a time without a shower and a constant sweat in the open desert.
  15. Downloaded this gem last night..spent most of the night playing mission 1. So, I captured all the objectives, but didnt get a 'you have located xxxxx' message for the Terminal, and both secondary objectives (even thought I cleared them and held them) resulting in me losing the mission. Am I doing something wrong? I had a full platoon of guys on the objectives and no bad guys to be found, but yet no win. My only comment on this mission is that the building layouts are HORRIBLE. It was very hard to clear them out (specifically the Terminal) because they were finely stacked on top of one another. Some of the buildings look buggy too, some are elevated off the ground, etc, etc. Other than that this looks to be a promising campaign. Someone put alot of effort into the storyline and missions. Very realistic, and this is coming from someone serving in Iraq.

  17. I was consdering making a Red Conventional vs Red Unconventional map. Couldnt figure out how to set the forces in a red v red case though. I know its possible. I've played a red v red map. Any help? Thanks
  18. One thing that kind of annoys me are the machine gunners. They fire 1-3 round bursts of MG. Lets hear a damn MAN-BURST. Seriously...you cant consider yourself a man/Soldier if you're firing 1-3 round bursts at a long interval while manning the M240B...lets not even start with the M2HB...you need to get up there and FIRE the damn weapon.. a full, loud, and long burst. Enough to know that you've killed the guy you're shooting at, and the guy behind him. Ok . I'm done. How's everyone doing? I'm in lovely Diyala Province, Iraq. Hey I'm a Captain now, can I get a name change to CPT Mike?
  19. I'd say dont worry about CoPlay AI wingmen. Like many other games out there, if a player isnt detected, then the units automatically go to the human player. I'd just like it for me and my buddy(s) to tackle some of the missions together. Not really interested in 2v2 or any of that, but hey...its always a bonus.
  20. Hey man. Didnt say I LIKE it. In fact, I've brought 'them' to get fixed up at our hospitals. I just dont feel remorse for them. It has nothing to do with who they are. The bottom line is that a dead insurgent is one less guy thats going to threaten the lives of the good guys.
  21. Tell me about it, brother! I saw the Baghdad ER documentry the NIGHT I found out I was going to Iraq. Had to turn it off during some parts. Was brutal. Also take into account those wounded that were returned to duty the next day or next few hours.
  22. I had the unfortunate chance to go to the Combat Support Hospital in central Baghdad during my time in Iraq. Inside, you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between a hospital in the states and the Baghdad Hospital. Seeing this, and knowing this is/was a huge morale boost for the Soldiers. Thankfully both of my trips to the CSH (combat support hospital) were for Iraqi HVT's injured, but thats another story. ALSO - I would recommend any wargamer to watch a show called 'BAGHDAD ER'. Its a 1 hour HBO documentary about a Baghdad Combat Support Hospital. You get an idea of how violent weapons are and see first hand effects. It changes your perspective on things.
  23. Ah. Yes...I was talking about RED FORCES in game. Too add to the original post. CASEVAC in real life....well..I'm not sure where to begin. I dont have time to type out a description of how it goes, but its EXTREMELY complicated. The amount of man power that must be dedicated per casalty is pretty crazy. We could have that represented in game, but I'm sure 99% of your gameplay would be dedicated to getting a few guys out of the fight.
