  4. There is a reason.... It's not an M9 thing or a .45 thing. It's a pistol thing. They are very intimidated by pistols. Reason being that Saddam Hussein and his henchmen used to execute people with pistols, and Saddam would use the pistol as a object of power. True story. Forgot who told that to me , or where I read it, but it certainly seems like it holds water.

  7. Captain Toleran, Thunder Run is an AMAZING read. In reference to your research on Recoiless Rifles (and Thunder Run). That sure was a lucky shot that hit Cojone Eh? Also check out Heavy Metal which was co-written by the lead company's CO (Captain Jason Conroy). It goes into detail about their ride up to Bahgdad, particularly a battle where they engaged and destroyed a T55 at 50m.
  8. I'd rather take my M9 and throw it at someone then try to hit them with it. The weight balance throws me off. Its way too light and unbalanced. Now the .45....why did we get rid of it!? Nice heavy weapon that can actually sustain the firepower that its designed to give. I'm going to try my hardest to get my hands on a .45 or .40 when I get down range. If given an M9 I think ill just keep it in my foot locker.

  11. Thousands of rounds. Thats not even a valid test. Who the hell fires thousands of rounds without performing weapons maintenance at some point? Also, there's not a huge chance your everyday target is beyond 300m (which is ALOT further than you think). I've carried both weapons, and I'll tell you that the M4 is definitely the better choice.

  14. It's a shame he didnt go into what the LRAS3 can do. I've had some amazing experiances with that thing. Not sure if I can post about it. I'll have to search the internet to find out what's already public.
  15. M4 is just as reliable. Same parts, man. Just smaller. And if you ask me the M16A4 is kind of pointless. It's just an A2 with the rail system on it. Its actually 2lbs heavier.

  18. Regular Army units dont use the M4's with full auto. Very few Army units still use the M16 either. Mostly non-combat units. Marines, from what I understand still use the M16 as their standard.

  21. Oh. I'm 3-2 at Lewis. Going downrange sometime within the next few weeks to link up with the rest of the brigade.
  22. 1SG, Which unit are you in at Fort Knox. I just did my OBC there for like six months (Oct-March). Probably the worst weather I've ever faced!
  23. Steve, Just put them in! PLEASE! We'll eventually be using these. I'm trying to get my hands on a pair. Then again, I'm an ACU addict. I have ridiculous amoounts of ACU patterened gear.
  24. Yes. MGS crews wear Nomex. If you want to get REALLY crafty you could model the ACU nomexes (PLEASE!!!)
  25. Good book to read on this topic is 'The Closed Circle' Explains alot and breaks it down nicely..I had no idea what the breakdown was only a few weeks ago, but even after only a few chapters of reading this book it brought things together for me. The basic thing you need to understand about the insurgency is that there are no rules. It is a FIGHT for power in a situation where there is no true leader to unite anyone. This also leads to the main problem Iraq faces; it is a front for multiple groups within the middle east (Shia, Sunni, Kurd, etc) I'm not going to get into it..I'm not a politician, just a fighter. However, remember this. Gang->Village->Tribe->Sect->Religion Right now Iraq is at war on EACH of these levels.
