Little bit late for the current game at 1986, but this track really caught the cold war (& Thatcher Years) vibe, for me anyway:

Mods like this really need to go official IMHO.....That is too useful a tool for everyone not to be able to use it (or benefit from it in play).

Pop Smoke can be odd, the engine always seems to want to defer it to the end of a list of commands, and will seem to ignore it if it's in the middle of a chain of waypoints.....Pause doesn't seem to help.

Here's a better picture showing the screen folded and deployed:

You can see how the front section folded forward to fit over the gun support which acted as a seal (mentioned in The Cheiftain's video IIRC).
Good online guide to the type here:
    https://www.tankarchives.ca/2017/02/the-amazing-strv-103.html
Which points out the probable source of confusion:
"The Swedes began testing another improvement with these tanks. Work on anti-HEAT shields began in 1966 during the search for additional protection. Initially, the idea was to install them on the sides, but began changing later. The Strv 103 received screens on its sides, as well as a two part screen in front. Later, it evolved into an unusual system of pins inserted into the front of the hull. This system could effectively defeat HEAT shells."
    My emphasis added.

No worries, TBH while it was a typically glib statement, I suspect there is some real truth in it.....I grew up during the original cold war and TBH my fondest memory is of it ending:
The sheer joy of those days & weeks!  TBH we squandered a golden opportunity, by & large as the result of pure greed on the part of those who should have known better.
But all that's a very long way from the Fulda Gap.

It has gone kind of quiet in ALL the oher forums since this one popped into existence.
IMHO Bil & Co. have captured the zeitgeist of the moment....."We don't want a new cold war, we haven't finished playing with the one we already had!".

It's actually at the front (I suspect you may be thinking of the jerry-cans used to protect the sides on the C variant).....Believe it or not, this is it:

And it was Top Secret at the time.
It has a dozer-blade so can dig its own fighting scrapes and it can can swim too, the flotation screen is built in:
BTW - This thing could deploy it's gun to the flanks almost as quickly as a turreted tank, its maneuverability is quite remarkable because of its short track footprint:
Be honest.....Did you ever see a tank do a J-Turn before?

    Exactly!
More of a T-80U man myself:

Hopefully we'll see a few more varieties in a few more of the games.
Hell if Steve & Co. were feeling expansive enough we could even have 'em in CM:SF2, Yemen has them.....Just the thing for the inevitable counter-offensive to Riyadh!

well no, the U.S. had much better nightscopes than the Soviets at this point, U.S. equipment was state of the art while the Soviets at this time were still using inferior IR sights.
The advantage of the thermal sights, along with improved fire control equipment is much better first hit probability of the A3 TTS and M1 compared to older M60 A1/A3 variants

I think we need to chill for a bit and see what Bil & Co. have planned.....There's a risk we could dive into doing something that will be made entirely redundant by a future 'official' module.
Also, while our modded efforts can look superficially convincing and feel even more so once you are actually playing them, they are only that.....Any serious examination of our TOE would find all manner of issues.
Things will be a LOT better if @37mm remakes H&E using CM:CW (and like I said, once you are actually playing the current CM:H&E, it already feels pretty convincing), but it will never be as perfect as an official module (but nor does it require quite the same workload).
PS - And if we're talking northern front then we just gotta have these:

Looking at the magnificent master map: "Les Hauts Vents & Pont Hébert" from Kandu which used "Road at 22.5 °" for its realization, I saw that the mod could be improved.

    So here is version 2

I invite you to go and see the results on this map where the new mod is up to the breathtaking work it has done.

    use

Dragged the file into your z file

It will appear in maps made with 22.5 ° roads

For the design of a map, the keys 1 2 3 5 8 10 13 and 15 are now available and will allow you to make the roads at 22.5 ° but also a wide variety of turns.

For maps containing a highway, it can cause problems (to be checked according to the map) in this case it must be removed from the z file

RepsolCBR, I’m hoping we can swap model skeletons between SF2 and CW for that very reason. Won’t know until we get our grubby little hands on CW. But 37mm and his H&E mod crew can probably figure that out or come up with a genius workaround. The uniform, face, and weapon models are all separate, so the the SF2 modern weaponry won’t be a problem.
