  1. My tip re: Acquire.....Do it before the enemy Hinds arrive! The Sarge's pixeltruppen have had a very bad night indeed.
  2. I started both CM:SF1 & CM:SF2 with @MikeyD's 'USMC To The Shores Of Tripoli'.....So that'll be my recommendation, right there.
  3. Many thanks fella, very much appreciated. Here's the CM:SF1 & CM:BS Guide to give you some examples (couldn't find current links on the site): https://www.dropbox.com/s/chmdofiod1bi3zw/FlavorObjectsAtAGlance.pdf?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/2y5qdwxlmqjaogj/Flavour Objects.pdf?dl=0 The CM:BS one is closer to the format of the images I'm making.....I'll PM you with a link to the labelled JPEGs tomorrow. PS - Just doing this landslide/rock-fall, without a guide: Was enough to drive me to the insanity that is playing CM:BS!
  4. If a squad or team throws the towel in, getting their Platoon HQ to the vicinity seems to bring them back on mission quite quickly.....Recently with rather amusing results for two Allah-Ackbars who suddenly found themselves in a building, with a GI holding a M249 SAW, who wasn't surrendering any more!
  5. Cool AAR and I have to agree with the post above.....You need CM:SF2 dude, it rocks!
  6. It seems there currently isn't one.....Which is making my life hell trying to add detail to 'The Valley'. If I were to make a bunch of labelled JPEGs, would anybody be willing to put them together into a .pdf format in a similar fashion to the guides for the other titles?
  7. Grrrr.....Somehow I now have one like left, I can't share it between you, so it'll just have to be a Thanks to you both! All the compounds are fortified to some extent, that one and this one, on the other side of the map, are the two biggest: These are the homes of two rival Tribal Militias in the 2p version.....Everything has a plan & a purpose (well, almost everything). Having spent an utterly thrilling hour taking out unwanted flavour objects earlier on tonight, I've just spent a couple more putting them back in.....This phase of the build could take me a while.
  8. If this is real, they have well & properly bitten off more than they can chew: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20181122-saudi-arabia-uae-send-troops-to-support-kurds-in-syria/ I've long predicted that any Saudi offensive against Syria (or other nations who actually know how to fight) would very likely finish up in Riyadh.....They can't even beat the Houthis, with the full support of the US and most of the GCC, but now they fancy taking a shot at Turkey, the SAA, Iran & Hezbollah, all at once! This is gonna be priceless!
  9. What, face-planting? I'm guessing you mean the linear flavour objects thing, and you too have no idea how I filled my map with junk?
  10. I've modified my post with the pictures to make it clearer. Outta likes again, I owe you a couple, again.
  11. It confused us both, from opposite directions.....As I said, I knew about the 'The Jump' from IED experiments in Mosul, what I hadn't realised was that the choice of plan was fixed prior to the 'The Jump', indeed my mistaken assumption that the AI plan was chosen when the Red Button is clicked was based on observing the 'The Jump'.
  12. I save on a 5 or 10 minute basis as a rule. FWIW
  13. Images from testing: Setup Button clicked causing 'The Jump' (tanks redeployed according to chosen AI Plan): So it's still as I observed, but assuming @IanL didn't keep rolling double ones, it seems the choice of plan will always be the same, the plan is predetermined at loadup.....Will run a few multiples to confirm. Many restarts later..... Yup, looks like he's right.....Apologies to @ctcharger for the bum steer.
  14. Need to have a look at this in Scenario Testing Mode.....The game definitely doesn't appear to act on a plan until you click the Red Button (ie: it doesn't deploy random setup OpFor units to their painted setup zones until the button is pressed).** Back in a bit. **This is based on my 'How to put an IED inside a building experimentation in CM:SF1'.....I haven't checked in the newer engine so I am now.
  15. It seems I have misread what I'm seeing.....Apologies to @IanL, I missed the test file. Looking at it now.
  16. I don't think a drag and click could explain it, there were at least half a dozen varieties of object, mostly in a multi-hundred metre, roughly circular area, but with a single line of telegraph poles through the middle more or less.....It's as though the entire portion of the map I had visible in the 2d editor window was instantly festooned with Flavour Objects! PS - This is CM:A remember.....Maybe the Russians did something tricksy?
  17. Ahhh, that was it.....Sorry. The Afghan valley map is (Unexcitingly. ) called: [Map] Afghan Highway Valley.
  18. This was East Mosul in the days before CM:SF2 & Exit Zones.....They'll behave differently in West Mosul (& CM:SF2), but they still won't surrender.
  19. I'm tentatively calling the mapmaking (ie: everything done by tile placement) of 'The Valley' done.....Sorted the area around the big compound: That's more like it!
  20. Two of them are snoring loudly two feet to my left and the other is guarding the top of the stairs (Gotta love those Rottie instincts! ), so yep, they're in the clear.....It's a mystery and one I hope not to repeat! PS - @MOS:96B2P Didn't I send you an early version of the map.....If so would you take a look in the area from just south of the mine, across the valley with the N-S road, also going up the other side of the valley towards the hill village, that's where most of the mystery objects were. I thought I had picked the map clean, but maybe I missed some and only spotted them while adding the final touches?
  21. Dude, I have two Lurchers & a Rotweiller/Staffie/German Shepherd/Labrador cross.....Cats are impossible!
  22. I've no idea how it happened, but they suddenly appeared between previews. It only occurred to me to make an image of the last telegraph pole.....There were indeed a chain of them and quite nicely spaced too, but there were also dozens of the rocks you see in the image, plus tree stumps, fallen logs and other flavours of rock, scattered over an area of I'd guess a couple of hundred meters on a side.
  23. You've matched me with that result, I've never won as the Ukrainians that I recall. Maybe there's a message for someone in there somewhere.....Picking fights with Russia is a **** idea. PS - Had similar issues with the BTRs.....IIRC in my last commentary on this battle I considered stripping out all the gear, dismounting the crews and using the vehicles as roadblocks (Unlike the old CM1 games, enemy units can't just bulldoze them aside, sadly IMHO. ).
