  1. TBH I doubt the former give it very much thought at all, unless of course they are related to one of the latter. The sheer level of 'denial' around the abject failure of the Afghanistan mission is truly remarkable: https://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2020/09/analysis-dont-trust-estimates-of-al-qaedas-strength-in-afghanistan.php The only thing that it has achieved is permanently to intertwine Al Qaedea & the Taliban and to ensure that imported anti-western Wahabbi Islam remains the dominant religious force in the country for the forseeable future! Go USA!
  2. Not sure I completely agree with your comments about TW (although it is a fairly 'gamey' game).....I'm quite fond of skirmish troops & even more so, mounted archers, in human hands they can be very capable units.
  3. Man I was tired last night.....I thought RT was referring to 'Real-Time' play! So ignore my waffle and listen to those guys instead!
  4. Wish I'd known it sooner TBH.....Based on what one sees (mostly in scenario author test mode), it's easy to assume the plan is selected when you click 'Go' (that's when AI units with random placement snap to their allocated locations). But as @IanL explained (& tests demonstrated) the plan has already been chosen at that point.....Randomly placed units will only ever snap to the same spot, no matter how many times you reload the save & click 'Go'.
  5. Ground pressure says 'No!' One of the more geeky game sites calculated the ground pressure of the various Battletech Mechs.....They might do OK on the moon, but other than that!
  6. When this thing that @MOS:96B2P has made finally emerges, you will be blown away.....I promise: It's still CM.....But only just! He's done an excellent job with the pacing too, meaning that while full scale firefights are rare, the player is constantly occupied.....If you play the scenarios while following strict C2 rules it can become rather dramatic too, high speed pursuits and foot-chases through the backstreets really are a thing and they are also hugely good fun (largely because they are just so different from anything you will ever have done in CM before):
  7. Nope.....The AI Plan is selected before you set-up.
  8. The same AI Plans are used in both formats, so there's no difference on that front.....As to how the engine handles those plans in different modes, I have no idea.
  9. It was being looked into, but it appears the process came to a halt. @IanL @JohnO @Imperial Grunt Any news at all?
  10. Put some mines in the pond: Suddenly it's much more exciting!
  11. I always imagined it as the officer patiently trying to explain what exactly the units were supposed to do, often to a bunch of semi-intoxicated illiterates!
  12. I thought you did some testing on this one? @MOS:96B2P has figured out to do something TRULY REMARKABLE with this one (a campaign where you can play either side). Man's a fekkin genius I tell you!
  13. While flame-tanks were fairly widespread, you won't find any Jagdtigers or Sturmtigers in Caen or Arnhem. The Battlefront crew have to make a living from this, so releasing these as seperate packs is almost certainly a business decision on their part.....Absolutely not a problem for me, I feel these titles are a bargain at the price. I have no idea how many hours I've spent either playing CM (All titles & all modules from CM:BO to the present) or mucking about in the editor, probably thousands.....I really can't think of anything that offers better value for money TBH, I've spent a couple of hundred times more on kits.
  14. Don't forget Predator.....An armed drone would open up a wealth of modern scenario options. Or how about Scout (NVG equipped) & Breach (demo-charge equipped) teams for Uncons.....IMHO the game needs these a lot more than it needs Russian forces that are not relevant to the BF timeline as currently written. That being said, the Russian presence at Tartus is never discussed in the timeline, but I'm sure that the Russians (with their S-300 SAM & P-800 Bastion systems, not to mention nuclear tipped ICBMs) would have had a big say in whether an invasion took place or not.
  15. That was my first thought too.....And now I'm off to test the concept of booby-trapped buildings (I can get the IEDs inside, but only in the centre of each structure).
  16. TBH @MOS:96B2P has used them in quite a number of entertaining ways:
  17. IMHO some of the scenarios are amongst the best; well balanced, challenging and very different to anything we've seen in CM:FI before:
  18. You are kidding, right? There are some really, really good scenarios in the R2V pack.
  19. To some extent yes, or they can certainly get that way.....It's harder to create a satisfying scenario for very small units IMHO. Getting the balance right can be very tricky, as the line between 'reasonable threat' & 'total overkill' is rather fine when dealing with very small units.
