  1. Oooh one of the ones I have used for testing. Great map and a very cool scenario. This almost makes me want popcorn and I hate popcorn. @George MC creator
  2. It wasn’t t so much a wrong place to post. There are a number of arma players here, just that if you are hoping for more informed response the dedicated arma forum would just seem to be a more directed and larger community for the specific issues.
  3. Wouldn’t an arma forum be the right place to ask this?
  4. Simply put - I put units in 2 reinforcement groups. Each is in the same time frame but with a long window for entrance so you won’t know which will appear first. Each is a trigger for the enemy so no matter how many times you play you won’t know which direction you need to head to 1st and how quickly you’ll neeed to respond to the other. You could split your force and hit both but then that carries it’s own risk. Unfortunately I can’t make the locations themselves variable. That was what I was really hoping for. I may try that for the wire obstacle as well.
  5. typically when you see stuff like that it means some of the brz files are not being applied. You are missing textures. CMSF is a bit of a pain to install, but I have done it a number of times and had good results. I would unlicensed it all and re-install following these instructions. If that doesn't work open a ticket with the helpdesk It might very well be that patch 1.10 is the issue. You could open the game right after the steps on the Marine module just to see if that is good before applying the British and NATO modules and remaining patches. Here is the correct way to reinstall CMSF and its modules (as of patch v. 1.32): Install CMSF, do NOT license it if it is a Battlefront version. Install the v. 1.10 patch for your distribution (Battlefront or Paradox). This step is sometimes not needed if you have the Marines module, but bundles that include the Marines module may not have all of the necessary files that are part of the v. 1.10 patch. If you have the Marines module, install it now. If you have the Marines module, launch CMSF and use the Marines license key to activate (this activates both CMSF and the Marines module). If you have the British Forces module, install it now. If you have the British Forces module, launch CMSF and use the British Forces license key to activate it now. Install the v. 1.21 patch. Make sure to make the correct selections for the modules you have. Making an incorrect selection will result in modules disappearing or license key requests for modules you do not have. If you run into this problem reinstall the v. 1.21 patch again and make the correct selections. You must install the v. 1.21 patch BEFORE installing the NATO module. If you have the NATO module, install it now. If you have the NATO module, launch CMSF and use the NATO license key to activate it now. Install the v. 1.31 patch. Make sure to make the correct selections for the modules you have. Making an incorrect selection will result in modules disappearing or license key requests for modules you do not have. If you run into this problem reinstall the v. 1.31 patch again and make the correct selections. Install the v. 1.32 patch. Make sure to make the correct selections for the modules you have. Making an incorrect selection will result in modules disappearing or license key requests for modules you do not have. If you run into this problem reinstall the v. 1.32 patch again and make the correct selections.
  6. I could do that, but am looking for replay value. The downed helos I am thinking to use a variable reinforcement and hopefully with the timers not be sure which site has a unit on first. Still playing with that idea.
  7. Pretty much. There are many battles you just can’t truly simulate. Most historical battles. Even if you have some FOW tactically, you still know certain facts from the get go, your total possible battlespace, all the terrain, your units are never confused about their orders or actions of nearby units, the chance of friendly fire is much much rarer etc The best you can hope for is to generate some of the feel of them. I’d love to do something similar to the Anaconda battle in Afghanistan but all the confusion in command and locations of units etc just is not gonna happen in CM. Mogadishu might be slightly possible, but you won’t have convoys making wrong turns or not knowing exactly where the crash sites are.
  8. Ha it is 70 here and 98 there. I’ll stay in San Jose.
  9. Lol that would make a great headline for duffelblog!
  10. I left a comment but it isn’t showing. It was a nice one I swear!
  11. Nah this one is @benpark. Arnhem is Pete's. Arnhem may be harder to do as I think there are more independent buildings in that one. I think Benpark will be jazzed to see it transition to CMBS.
  12. Sneaky. I tried that in Circle the wagons. The first time it worked brilliantly (though I still used a ton of ammo). The 2nd time I got a different AI plan.... it didn't go well (but I had a lot of leftover ammo once I buddy aided everyone) .
  13. "Couple goes to Middle East ...….." Someone needs a geography lesson. Tajikistan is Central Asia...
  14. If I recall that had something to do with Arty. Good luck with that when all you have is some 60mm. You do have two Abrams. However they are stuck and very very vulnerable. As to the ammo usage - that was ummm…. QA testing yeah that's it!
  15. err I got it direct so never thought to go there.... will correct that negligence immediately. Thanks for the heads up. odd, it isn't showing...
  16. Login to the store site and pull up your account details. You license keys will be on record there as well as download links.
  17. That is unfortunate. The whole point of having a tester is to get feedback. As a tester it is important to know we all have our own preferences about what we like to play. I may not like the scenario someone is creating but my responses should be relevant to what they are trying to do, not necessarily what I like. After that it is mostly checking to make sure the briefing is clear, objectives are labeled correctly etc. creation is a tough thing and turning over your work to someone else to pick apart can be difficult. You have to have a fairly thick skin and be able to accept the critiques. You don’t have to agree but you do have to appreciate that someone took the time to help. The first scenario I ever did was very shaved down from what I’d originally intended it to be. The feedback I got was very helpful but also meant I had to be willing to accept that the scenario I had designed might not work very well but the original germ of an idea did make it through.
  18. It is an existing CMSF scenario so you can play it now. Won’t necessarily play the same, but you’d get the drift.
  19. I haven’t installed to c drive in years. I have a couple drives for different functions and have BF games on all of them.
  20. But what would they acquire? Expounding on your idea if I get your overall perspective is you’d have some kind of drop down. Select what you want and then close with dismount. Is that what you ate thinking? I do like the idea of selecting from a list kind of showing 2 panels. One of what is in vehicle and the other what my squad has and being able to move stuff in either direction. Then once I have moved everything I want close and dismount. Oh oh Mr Kotter! I have! Not so much in WW2 games, but in modern you can go through a shockingly large amount of ammo in no time. Nothing worse than watching your MG guy using his pistol. Well maybe there are worse things but I have seen it a few times. I have learned the hard way to look at the game at setup and figure out before I even begin do I think I am gonna burn through ammo and what is resupply going to be like? Hmm urban battle, yeah load up cause I am not going to likely be running a vehicle in close with RPGs floating around and I may not have the luxury of breaking off a section and sending them back to load up. It also may take them a bit to get back to wherever I left the trucks to grab and return. Thing is I actually love that aspect. I’d like an ammo check in the audio files too! As to your comment above wait till CMSF2 is out then go play circle the wagons. 2nd platoon is gonna be too busy to take over for 1st platoon so you better be making sure of 1st platoon’s ammo state.
  21. wasn't a question of right or wrong - just clarification. A lot of this is stated as BF should give some kind of periodic update and folks would be happy with that. The question was is that really what is being asked, just a periodic update or more of an interaction? Now you know what the odds are of getting Steve involved in a regular interaction and also knowing how small a shop BF is, do you really think that is the best use of the devs time? The point of a forum is interaction, but not necessarily interaction with the developer.
