Brink of civil war in Lebanon
Homo ferricus replied to hellfish's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
its like that feeling when your girlfriend just broke up with you, even though you never really liked her, so you'd think that you wouldn't really care, but now that shes gone, you just want her back. so you can once again provoke her into getting herself banned -

One’s first reaction to such an asinine, moronic question is don’t dignify. But in the interest of not disappointing and maintaining the notion of the Ugly Syrian, here’s “how the hell”: I am prescient enough to ascertain Homo Ferry is one gargantuan, double Preparation H a hole. Guess what, I determined all the above without a dictionary and a sound device. And Homo is your first name, it says it right there, look. So what do you mean Homo “jokes” and “rules”, if your first name is a joke don’t blame me. Reminds me of Mario Cuomo, the once Governor of New York when he ran for president; so as to over-emphasize his ethnicity, the Republicans kept calling him on news talk shows, Mario, Mario, Mario, Mario, then the governor snapped and said “don’t call me Mario”, after which Dan Quayle responded, but Mario, that’s your name. Dig Homo? And please take your infantile semantic parsing and go back to kindergarten. In terms of laziness or lack thereof, you’re just chuck tootin’ full of vigilance aren’t you Homo? You’re a light weight sport, I’ve said all there’s to be said to you, Homo. </font> -

well, it took some provoking to get it out of ya. It seems you blurt out BS anytime you think the forum members would be too lazy to check your facts. still completely puzzled as to how the hell you can tell my tone without hearing pitch differences and modulations in my voice. Tone by definition is sound. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tone uh-oh, homo joke, pretty sure thats in violation of the rules. Thats too bad, considering all the fun you have brought to our oherwise painfully boring forum. Now that, truly and honestly hurt. Looks like you went to the same school of humor as Borat. -

LoneSyrian seems to have abosrbed too much propoganda from his government, what with all his massive exaggerations of "disapperance of a multitude of Marines" and other bull**** statements. A good, honest, thoroughly analyzed and introspective conversation is most definitely hard to have with a man who is obviously brain-washed. -

How's the 25mm Chain Gun doing in Iraq?
Homo ferricus replied to MikeyD's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
actually, I've heard a lot of stuff about the M249 not being an adequate weapon from U.S. Soldiers and Marines. -

hmmm, it seems that for the most part, Steve's arguments have been logical and are supplemented by plenty or historical information, while LoneSyrian's seem to be vigorous propaganda and drug-induced ramblings about the glory of Sunnis, with nearly no regard for a decent and straightforward counter to Steve's points. but again, as someone posted before, i agree that there are too many differences between American, and Sunni Arab living in Syria point of views. -
I don't think that the guy with the alleged m203 is a Marine with the 1st Marines, i believe it is a soldier serving with the 1st ID. As explained by the infamous big 1 for 1st ID, the ACU, and the M4. Army guys use the velcro paches, the marines dont have any insignia, except the Marine's name and "U.S. Marines" printed on the flap of the left chest pocket. edit: nevermind, misunderstood that comment.

Syrian sniper rifles
Homo ferricus replied to rudel.dietrich's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
during that same questioning of the replacement of old stuff in the Marine Corps., they also looked for a new camo pattern, and apparently tiger stripe came out first, until the digital pattern from Canada was tested, and actually, they recently came up with a digital tiger stripe pattern. but i digress from the point... i think that i recently saw a pic of a US soldier w/ a red dot scope on his M4, instead of the standard aimpoint (gosh, the army sure does like red dots). </font> -

Something else to model
Homo ferricus replied to Nemesis Lead's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
i would think that battlefront would leave the muzzle velocities alone and just set the M16 to be more effective at a longer range, indeed due to faster muzzle velocities and the use of the 4X ACOG site, but then again, it will be a while before the supposed Marine Corps expansion comes out. -
a windy day in the syrian countryside

my god, i think i AM going to end up getting a new computer... damn! -
just to make a note, the insurgent wasn't sprinting at the Marines full-blast or anything, he just kinda plopped out of a bombed out house (it was getting shelled by an Abrams) onto the ground and reached for his rifle. At that point, multiple Marines opened fire on him and emptied their clips and loaded new ones and firing, while the insurgent still laid there yelling and rolling, faintly trying to reach for his gun. Just to clear that up, because some of you seem to think that he was just running at the Marines with an AK in his hands. btw, people often die of bullet wounds because they go into shock, not just because they have a hole in them, and like Steve said, adrenalin and meth will keep you from going into shock.

yes, the amtracks seem widely used in Iraq, i read an article about a group of Marines that ride up and down a road every day in one (they call them "gators") looking for IEDs. the drug use was pretty amazing too. The gunnery srg. from a squad in Lima Co. said something like "atleast 3 different Marines opened up on the insurgent, they emptied out on him and were swapping in new magazines and he still screamed and yelled and tried to reach his weapon". Similar to the Somalis chewing khat before battles, it made them feel like hot sh*t before they threw themselves into the line of fire.

Why I'd like a special forces module
Homo ferricus replied to Peter Cairns's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
well, if we don't get "Special Forces" in the game, should we atleast expect Airborne troops? Or 10th Mountain Division and such special-yet-conventional infantry groups? Or is it going to be more like you get your pick of units only from ground infantry and cavalry divisions. -
White House to provide backstory for CMSF

or simulation of casualties, the exact amount of men in a sniper team, a special forces module, abstraction of air units and anti-air, oh yeah, and space lobsters. -
You wanted pics? Here are some pics.
Homo ferricus replied to Mace's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
There was a suggestion by Other Means that casualties be represented by an actual figure that would lie on the ground and be considered "evacuated" if within some sort of command radius for a certain amount of time. This suggestion was a compromise of sorts between casualties being represented by only an abstract symbol such as a Red Cross and full control of Medics, which Battlefront was always completely against as being difficult to code and a distraction from what is, after all, a war game. Steve said Other Means' suggestion would be considered, and that’s the source of the quote in Other Means' Sig. All we can assume is that Casualties are represented by more then a Red Cross (unless Steve wants to give us another bone, hmmm). </font> -
Can't confirm. Will the U.S. have trucks?
Homo ferricus replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
who knows, maybe the Army would reactivate them, considering the Army is devoting many armored transports to Iraq and Afghanistan, does the US really have enough APCs and ICVs after 2 wars and occupations to fight another full-scale conflict exclusively using armored transports? actually, with all the new Stryker shipments that I've heard the Army ordering, probably ya. -
High port carry position, is that what they call those awkward-looking positions that i see soldiers in Iraq holding their M16s where the soldier holds the weapon high up on their chest?

a friend of mine already his vista, but the computer that he wants to run it on refuses to work. -
hmmm, are the German's using digital camo now too? are all EU and NATO countries switching over to digitals now? I wouldn't be surprised, those things are effective as hell. edit: now that i take a second, closer, look they appear to not be Digitals, kinda like pseudo-digital.
