  1. I don't believe MikeyD was responding to your particular "problem"... just the Marsh to Water (and other map) issues. Nobody really knows what your issue is. You appear to believe that playing CMSF1 scenarios in CMSF2 could hurt you in some, as yet unexplained, way.
  2. Indeed it is... old campaigns slightly less so. There's still a use for the "water to marsh" mod.
  3. Yes, it's a .7z file. Erwin must be having one of his, many & unique, "problems" again.
  4. I have another vid featuring the WIP effects mix...
  5. I see three answers to your "problem"... (i) Keep the scenarios & play them. (iii) Keep the scenarios but don't play them. (ii) Delete them to ease your "worries" & free up a few gb. I feel you'll have to make this momentous decision on your own.
  6. I'll bump this thread every once in a while.
  7. There was a "Marsh to Water" (visual) mod for CMSF. I've updated it with some alpha channels for Marsh reeds & a mini bitmap... but only tried it on one map so far (the opening battle of the Hasrabit campaign). https://www.dropbox.com/s/040nt62x4egaaob/Marsh to water for CMSF1 scen%26camp.7z?dl=0
  8. I've tried to use the spy .mdr's for combatants but it doesn't seem to work for me... I'm no modder. However, for those wanting fighters that look less "ninja", I've been using Blimeys CMBS Insurgent mods. They mostly fit (if you avoid any uniforms with kneepads) so are an adequate stopgap.
  9. If you have reshade, you can find a zoom effect... which can be set to follow your mouse. Hover your mouse over the area you want to read, press the zoom key & voila'.
  10. I recall playing a bit of Silent Hunter 3 back in the day... and there was a small community of dedicated lunatics players who prefered to play multi-week long patrols in 1:1 real-time without Time compression. Some people really do value immersion more than they do playability. Myself, I'm just trying to make my action sequences look cool.
  11. From what I can tell, only red (Western) & green (Syrian+Uncon) tracers are used in CMSF2... I also think that the heavier AKM rounds do seem to kick up more dust & debris.
  12. I've been playing around with the special effects recently & I found, because gunfire doesn't kick up enough dust & debris, that the firefights just look terrible, & kinda absurd, without tracers. I'm hoping to find a happy balance between immersion & believability...
  13. To be fair, one probably need's to get into the Kiloton range to wake you from your slumber.
  14. In the exploded stock .brz's every Western nation has its own type of knee & elbow pads... complete with normal bitmaps. However has anyone ever seen any Western troops actually wearing knee & elbow pads?
  15. One other tip, if you happen to have no vsync but still have reshade, you can turn on one or two expensive but not particuarly noticeable effects (say Ambient light) which will decrease your fps below your monitors refresh-rate. I started turning all vsync off deliberately, as an experiment, only very recently... but my results are pretty positive so far. Remember, half refresh rate decreases the size of your "high-detailed visual bubble/draw distance"... a considerable drawback of reducing your fps too much.
  16. I had an issue a month or so back where the Nvidia settings would only work for CM after a system reboot & CM was the first program you started. Whatever it was seems to have gone away.
  17. You might be interested to know I've been playing with my reshade settings recently to try & increase the immersion at night...
  18. I just "borrowed" the insurgent mods from Dragonwyn's 'Mountains of Allah' Campaign. Then renamed the UKR uniforms to Syrian Fighter uniforms, I've since realized they don't fully fit (knee protectors are the wrong way round for one thing). However presumably it can be managed/fixed/improved (aka... avoiding knee caps) & extended to non-Winter mods (Blimey's seperatists).
  19. The poppy doodads are used in CMA... presumably most of your excellent mod will be compatible with CMA (although the poppies will need renaming).
  20. @General Jack Ripper & others may be interested in my new & improved night vision mode. Here is my current reshade profile. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q67utua09nar4ze/Reshade Feb'19 inc NVG.7z?dl=0 Pressing the 'end' key on your keyboard activates my viewing effects... obviously you can deselect the film grain if you wish.
  21. Yeah... it take two different curves & two different blooms to get that effect. I also use some vibrance & a film grain but, although the grain looks cool when playing, it doesn't seem to record too well (I'll drop it for any future night movies). I've also today figured out how to use the lift gamma gain effect to recreate Ramblers green-o-vision effect... so now the nightvision mode can be used at any time. Another thought I had today, was perhaps I could put bright pixels on uniforms which will then be picked up by the blooms & help represent those strobes I see soldiers often wearing during night actions...
  22. I've been experimenting with a 'night vision mode', to complement Ramblers mod, since "A day at the Beach'. I'm still not happy with it, but it's getting there...
  23. I had a few days off so finished my first (admittedly byte sized) campaign, "Guardians of the Homeland"... ... twas great fun, shame there weren't more "episodes" featuring "the Guardians".
