  1. I think Zinzan beat me to it. but you will find it under the Normandy Scenario section. http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/category/cm-battle-for-normandy/
  2. Hello Everyone, I just finished and have uploaded the scenario to TPGII to be evaluated and hopefully transferred to the Scenario Depot. Please enjoy and let me know what tweaks if any need to be made. The Scenario is basically a Defensive Ambush vs the US forces.
  3. I should have the scenario loaded up on the testing site later today. Supposedly there was a tanker trunk that was hit and exploded in the melee. In the Scenario I list the sources I used for the information, although again, unless you were there at "Barkmann's Corner" then no one really knows what the hell transpired is what I have been reading. My guess is, it was such a small engagement, except for the supposed loss of 14- or so vehicles that no one on the American side really reported it as probably anything more than a small engagement lasting about 20min or so between 1 stubborn tank and around a platoon or Company of men. Operation Cobra was such a huge success that it was probably just brushed aside. For the US Side that may have been there, they probably did not know exactly where they were, so the exact orientation of where Barkmann's Corner is exactly is still a mystery of sorts, but there are some areas matching Barkmann's description to the T. Interesting at the very least.
  4. Thanks Bootie.... I will get this completed now. I totally appreciate your time and hope you had a great time in Singapore.. its a fun place. Cheers!
  5. Hello John, Like yourself I played Barkmann's Corner when CMBN came out. It was extremely fun and again like you lost a few times. Its almost by luck or 'Chance" you survive. After becoming more Intune with the editor and such I made a few scenarios, a couple I have on CMODS. I wanted to take a crack at Barkmann's corner and try and re-create it. So after some crazy research and looking at many photographs.. I began my rendition of Barkmann's Corner. The changes are the following. Barkmann's Tank is now from the Waffen SS units instead of Wehrmacht. The German Infantry are the same number as in the first but are of the Wehrmacht, in which I thought because of the area and date would be from the 353rd Inf Division (Remnants). Allied units are basically from 3rd Armored Div. A Troop 4th Cav. Sqdrn. E Troop with M8's, F Troop with M5 Lt. Tanks, Battery B 391st Field Arty. (However in what I read only x1 Priest was detached for support while the rest of B Battery was in support of CCB. I also included the mysterious 'Tanker Truck". There are of course a number of Sherman tanks as well with a few of 76mm of the earlier models. The map is quite different, as I tried to use photographs of the area in question. However I am not as meticulous as others but the map and the photograph are close. ( I could have spent another month on the map but since in my research no one really knows EXACTLY where this battle took place, or if it even took place is still in question). I think it works very well and gives the player more latitude to maneuver Barkmann if need be. The only other change is that Barkmann is on the RIGHT hand side of the road, this tactically gives him an advantage in which I think is more accurate as he was an Ace already, and something he most likely would have thought of. Most of the information was from Photos, and Forums. I give a nod to those people who obviously have done a lot of research on the subject, and listed the forums in which I retrieved the information in the scenario briefing. All I can do now is wait until I hear back from the admin for CMODS to become an Author, then I will upload it. and repost.
  6. @ zinzan Thanks I will wait it out, no worries. Just wanted to get this done before Christmas, but again its holiday season. Thanks for your posts, just a waiting game now. Cheers!
  7. Excellent, much appreciated, and no worries. Hopefully I did not sound like an ass, as I have the utmost respect for the Battlefront team, the people behind the Scenario Depot etc. They are excellent sites and a wealth of knowledge. Thanks Zinzan and tell the web master/owner to take down a few cold ones.. or in Europe I guess they might be room temperature. Cheers! James
  8. Not as of yet... I went to the link, and I have to say its nice but I can not post anything as of yet.. so its not a big help right now. Also The Proving Ground II site could use some better instructions on its FaQ page. Although it explains that the site provides for play testing and feed back to the "Authors" I presume, it does not tell you how to go about to just UPLOAD a file.... meaning if you do not have an account and do not wish to be an Author but to just upload a scenario, or yours was lost with their new updates to their webpage, their is no contact information at all. Just my 2 cents, but whenever I try to upload a scenario which was no big deal before, it asks for username, or email and then password.. well where the bloody hell do you actually create an account on the webpage? I remember seeing this before but cant find the link to even create a new one. Although I was slightly pissed off, and have sense watched some Football and had a few drinks.
  9. Hello everyone, It took some time but I thought of creating my own take on Barkmann's Corner. I have spent a great deal reading some of my books, and many forums online. Its hard to say exactly what happened but I think that everyone will enjoy this version as much as they loved 'Jaws" version. I have been gone awhile and I guess I lost my login credentials with " A few Good Men" as none of my log in attempts worked and have no idea how to contact them. Well Crap.. I cant attach it here either, file is to big even after Ziping it. EDIT: I have been away too long, as they have changed things at AFGM site. Which is cool but I guess I have to wait for an email or something.
  10. Well I have not visited the Forums in some time... seems not much has changed, nothing new really. The good thing is, is that between CMBN series, FB, Red thunder and the Italian Campaign, I am busy... but slowly running out of scenarios I have not played. Maybe I will upload a new scenario to Red Thunder, or CMBN. Anyways hello everyone and I hope everyone is doing well.
  11. I agree, both the King Tiger and especially Panther tanks muzzles get damaged so often, I often think they may have truck loads of extra muzzles and such. Happens so often its funny almost. I looked up the 57mm, or the 6lb gun and someone help me out here but late in the war it seems it was capable of penetrating with APDS 130mm of armor but at 100m. However that is not the British ammo? I think the US only had AP, APCBC/HE, and HE late 44. From the game.. they also use Canister shot, but this is in Final Blitzkrieg.
  12. Thanks for the reply Snake_eye and to Lille Fiskerby. much appreciated.
  13. A lot to read in this thread..... My only question in regards to the scenario Baraque de Fraiture and other Scenarios... how the heck do you get the US Vehicles in the TOE for the Germans? I looked in the TOE and could not see any US vehicles listed or groups etc. Is it a specific date? Single vehicles etc? It was a really well done scenario.
  14. I am all for saving my men... I guess I am conservative in away, but hate to see my pixletruppen get chewed up. Thanks George MC, starting the next mission as we speak... ( I have read the instructions well the first time) Must say I really enjoy the immersive story and the information you get in the briefings. To those visiting and honoring our fallen hero's in the USA, I wish you all a great Memorial Day weekend. Semper Fi.
  15. Just finished the first mission. Got the DRAW.. not sure if I should start over. led with a couple tanks... in the end only suffered a few infantry casualties. I re-read the mission about them spotting armor. I think I got lost somewhere reading all the interesting messages.. the Russians ended up with nearly 3k points for spotting the tanks and SPW's. Its really a trade off.. either your infantry gets shot up... or you let them spot your vehicles.
  16. Sounds about right. I believe there was mention that Axis Allies like the Hungarians, Italians, Romanians...???? would be added as well as Waffen SS, and other formations. Maybe new TOE.. or updated obviously.
  17. Its really great we have so many talented people in the BF community. Your work is much appreciated, even from those that never frequent the forums. The difference in immersion you get with sound mods, vehicle mods, troop mods, building and terrain is just spectacular. Makes for having hours of great fun... even though at times painful.. lol. Semper Fi. Keep up the good work.
  18. I think your analysis is correct: The Deck is stacked against you by a lot. I threw in the towel on my first try, even though you generally know where things might be from your recon report. I counted the guns against you. x6 105mm SP Howitzers that can destroy anything on the board and render even the KT useless. x2 76mm ATG, x3 57mm ATG again.. can render pretty much everything on the board useless. and at least 10-12HMG and probably at least 8-10 Bazooka's, not to mention their artillery. Yes its a lot to go up against with probably the most anti-assault force assembled. Lets face it, you basically only have 1 hour, and you need to Assault an entire town. It takes at least 10min just to maneuver forces from the starting point. You have no heavy artillery at all even though you would have Corps level support most likely... well probably if Stavelot was so vital anyways. I think the Designers wanted this to be an accurate failure, as KG Knittel could do little in Stavelot. However I really think if you did well in the beginning then you should have a change with some kind of alternate history.. ie, if you were successful in every mission to a degree would the end not change??? It's really up to the Campaign designers. I have to admit, "Lifeline" was a complete downer to a really immersive campaign... I felt cheated.
  19. Sounds like a decent plan. I saved my game so I may finish it and see what happens next. Let me know how your plan works. Good luck.
  20. I used somewhat the same plan to knock out some of the priests near the wood line at the bottom of the hill... however the Priests with Perfect vision.. saw my infantry moving down the hill and eviscerated them. I have to say that this was the end mission intentionally in a way for the German campaign.. as it was in history. Too bad all the good work you did in the early stages and sacrifices.. are for not. In my Hypothetical mind Stavelot was already taken earlier and destroyed by point blank fire... and the Fuel Dump was taken intact. We left a large group and moved on.. (I think a better scenario instead of 'Lifeline" would have been defending the lifeline from the Americans... Anyways I moved on to the next scenario.
  21. Strangely I walked away from Stoumont with only 98 total casualties and the loss of 2 Panthers and 3 misc vehicles. The only mission that is giving me a headache right now is "Lifeline" Even with 2 King Tigers and 1 Panther... the Priests and entire company of AT Guns not to mention bazooka teams sprinkled everywhere is devastating. I still am having a hard time with the Campaign designers on why would they allocate so little from "Fast Group Knittel" especially since I have had Total Victory after Total Victory.. it seems this campaign although immersive and lovely does not keep pace with your victories or actual decisions... for example moving fast.. and then taking the fuel depot, seemed to have zero effect vs enemy.
  22. WEGO... maybe that is the issue.. but that particular scenario seems a bit frustrating for me for some reason. I blasted the hell out of the Stavelot the first go around.. LOL
  23. Anybody make it past "Lifeline mission"? I have restarted this one about 6 times now. I don't think there is any good way to do this one... I am surprised at the assets given to KG Knittel. ***SPOILER ALERT****** I know the KG would have been able to call in more artillery then just the x2 81mm from the attached scwhere Company. It just seem hard to believe that you send such a small force to retake such a vital bridge... with the scope that the bridge effects the entire supply of the advance. Also another annoying thing is you go for Speed.. getting Total Victories in the first 2 missions, and then you annihilate the enemy at Stavelot the first time and take the fuel dump there.... (which basically I believe gives you x2 King Tigers for the Stoumont battle.... then at Stoumont the US was defeated so decisively they surrendered to me... All the while in this campaign I do not see any real benefit in the "Speed decisions". So now... going back to Stavelot with elements of KG Knittel with very little support to take on pretty much a fresh ATG Company, and 6 SP 105mm Priests... which by the way are so well placed you will never get a shot off first (also the terrain is beautifully adjusted to give them somewhat more of an advantage on any attackers angle of fire). One last thing the designer either forgot to adjust doors in some of the maps, as well as adjust terrain so you can enter the doors, or figured they would be devious and not adjusting to add to the level of difficulty or basically giving the attacker the bird. Beautiful maps, but when you look close there could have been a lot more fine tuning. Path finding for pixel troops was a huge issue in Stavelot and Stoumont. Just a small rant I guess, but I don't see how this campaign has any positives at all for having total victories while speeding off to the Meuse. I just do not feel the campaign makes efforts to adjust a different outcome even though you can have total victories for every battle. so what's the point of the campaign then?
