  1. Good Stuff.... Damn.. I have that book as well.. Thanks for posting. Cheers!
  2. Hello everyone... say do any of you know the equipment and number of troops in Schnelle Gruppe Knittel? I know the Germans are not supposed to win the Peiper Campaign but hey.... why the hell not try. Anyways was just looking for some good info on the amount of forces he had. Cheers
  3. Right... I just thought it bizarre that the weapon penetrated 110mm at 700m... 3 times???? Anyways good stuff. Definitely a bad ass ATG.
  4. I just realized its possible they ran out of APDS when I looked at the unit itself... I really did have a few Scotches last night. Anyways good information. I knew the 6lb-57mm gun was a good asset, I guess I just never gave it the full respect it deserves.
  5. One thing I wish that the BF team did was actually put the correct name of rounds that are being used per weapon system.. but maybe that was not possible and the generic AP, HE was used for some of the weapons.
  6. Thanks Womble, and CMFDR. This particular engagement was around 600-700m The Panther took 5 rounds to the gun mantlet (Sharp shooters for a regular crew) 3 penetrated and for the life of me I wish I had my Fraps up but forgot. The tank exploded from one of the Mantlet hits. However is there not another 100mm of armor behind the gun Mantlet? The other Panther suffered the same fate All be it from a 76mm most likely using HVAP.. that round again penetrated the Gun mantlet.. which was a Ausf G late with Chin mantlet.
  7. Thanks CMFDR for the info. I am still trying to wrap my head around how a 57mm could destroy a Panther (as in brew it up) by penetrating the front Mantlet and Turret.. from 600-750m. I mean penetrating the front Mantlet is one thing but then penetrating the 100mm of turret armor at 10* is another. Unless I am looking at the Panther Armor thickness diagram wrong. LOL which I could. (Jack Daniels is to blame)
  8. Hello I had some crazy results against the US 57mm M1 ATG. I was curious if anyone had some good info on the Penetration value of this weapon. I understand its virtually the British 6lb gun. I could not find a penetration chart for the weapon, but thought it is one hell of a piece. I just want to verify that this weapon could penetrate the front glacis' and gun mantlet. of a Panther at 600-750m as was evident in a couple quick battles. I believe if I remember correctly the unit itself just depicts AP and HE round. But would they be using APDS? I understand the front hull of the Panther is roughly 80mm @35* and the front Mantlet is 110mm round (Ausf G.) Another Mantlet Penetration was on a ( Ausf G. Late) with Chin mantlet. So the 6lb penetrated the Gun Mantlet and then penetrated through the actual Turret armor which I believe is 100mm at 10* That penetration was around 750m. Unless my calculation is off... and it very well could be because of the fine Scotch I am having.. but that's 210mm of Armor (Round and at 10* slightly spaced) Anyways just checking if this is accurate.. as that 6lb gun will be my new choice in Quick Battles. Damn pesky ATG... Cheers!
  9. This is going to be my next Campaign.... Hell on Wheels!
  10. I meant no offense with the video's, I thought the footage was pretty much on par with Final Blitzkrieg. Also the last video shows some of the late model Panthers with the upgraded chin mantle armor... as well as some other vehicles.
  11. I wanted to add a special thank you to the Scenario-Campaign designers for your hard work. I thoroughly am enjoying this Campaign and its challenges. I thought it was really cool to approach Stoumont in somewhat the same way as Peiper may have done so... all be it with some Hindsight. It was really cool seeing the roads and landscape as it may have been back in the day. 1. The first bit with the Panther must have either been in the fields south of Stoumont or on the Hill East of Stoumont. There was a knocked out 76mm ATG. 2. at 00:15 just to the left of the Panther you can see the Robinson House, and just to the right of that is the Church. Most of the footage here is around the Robinson House. 3. here is another video
  12. Just wait till you get to Stoumont.. if your not there already.. damn its pretty violent and bloody.
  13. I believe it begins on the second Mission. 'Command Decisions" You basically opt to either rest and refit, or charge onto towards Stavelot. I cant remember off hand but I thought it said something to the effect of that when you do enter Stavelot, you will have the option to capture the square thus grabbing vital fuel.... or forget about the Square in Stavelot and keep the speedy charge going.
  14. *****Spoilers****** Not sure, but the way they worded the text... it sounded like it might be. However I am sure someone here who just kept going without taking the square could answer that question. I will say I have 2 King Tigers for the next mission at Stoumont.
  15. Did this happen at Stavelot, the bridge there also caused some of my Pz IV's to get stuck under the bridge. Its why I save a lot.. most likely this can be fixed with some map editing. The Stavelot Map is very pretty but yes there was an occasional issues with the bridge and buildings as far as pathfinding. Its all about Map Elevation.. doorways and such. No big issues.. just save a lot. I actually had to restart that mission because I blew up a allied truck on the bridge... bad move.
  16. Nice, just got done with Stavelot... HOLY SHIZA!!! ***** Spoiler Alert********* Went with the option to not rest and take Stavelot quickly.... Just got done capturing the North part of town, the Square.. or basically where Hotel La Maison is? I have to admit its a beautiful map and if you look at pictures of Stavelot town.. there are massive familiarities. One word of caution save your game a lot if attempting to take the Square. The Pathfinding in and around the buildings is sort of buggard as the elevation does not match the doorways to the building you probably want to get in. Looks like we have fuel for our King Tigers now.... Onward to Stoumont!
  17. ***SPOILER Alert**** Well I am playing dual campaigns, and I am a little baffled with the Stoumont decisions. I thought if I would not rest I could find Stoumont not heavily defended. Instead they had the chance to put up mines and such.. no problem.. but damn... the Fuel Depot is guarded by a reinforced company that looks sort of well metagamed so that the Germans would stand no chance of taking everything? Which makes choosing Speed over resting sort of Stupid. There are actually more enemies if you choose Speed, vs waiting the night like Peiper did, so I am a little confused in that regard.. Speed decision, you encounter more Allied Troops, Fuel Depot is nearly (Wont say impossible) a nightmare to achieve. Rest and Refit Decision, Less Allied troops initially but you will encounter different Allied Assets.. Anyways going after the Fuel Depot would be suicide... you men would get torn apart, You would think that they would have defended the ONE BRIDGE better with the assets in Stoumont, but no.... they would rather hang out at the Fuel Depot. Just my 2 cents.. just thinking that SPEED is a bad choice and the designers almost want you to either do exactly what Peiper did, or just Fail, as I did not see any clear way of even getting to the Fuel depot a possibility with the assets you have. FYI: As far as Pathfinding went.. especially before you get to the bridge, there are some buildings that your infantry just will not enter properly and they will get killed as they seek to find the correct door.. even though its right in front of their face. My guess is this has something to do with the building and ground elevation. Another thing not to do, is destroy a vehicle on the bridge... as your vehicles will have a extremely difficult and painstakingly time getting across the bridge. Still a very beautiful map... well done.
  18. Thanks JuJU... another great UI. Love it. many thanks.
  19. All I know is that all of my Grenadiers take around 250-500 AP rounds when they leave the HT, and another 100 9mm rounds. I think I have seen them go through the AP rounds first,, but then would have to test that theory... They do use the AP rounds and have definitely penetrated the tops of M8 Greyhounds, and believe it has better penetration value when in urban zones. I make sure my MG42 crews whenever possible also take around 500 AP rounds. I do the same thing when playing the US and UK forces. Not sure but I had set fire to 2 US Deuce trucks in two volley.. should have made a screen shot, but the rounds seemed to have penetrated through the first truck and into the second as they were lined up on a round right behind one another.
  20. Again thanks for all the input, great stuff. I have it worked out now. One major thing is not to forget your "OTHER" AI Plans.. to be turned OFF. dear god that had been my bane I think. Now that I feel pretty savvy in creating AI plans.. conducting about 35 tests and creating plans and such, I feel very versed now. MY next goal will be to delve into "Triggers"
  21. Nice... I thought that they would for the Airborne troops, but I know I had seen, or thought I had seen pictures of jeeps towing 37mm and 57mm guns.... looked like regular Army. I am going to do some quick battles and play around with it. Thanks for the input everyone. Cheers!
  22. Good point Womble. I will start using that technique... I can always use drivers for something.
