What is left to do once CW is released?
Sequoia replied to xian's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Just to clarify. Battlefront WILL add new features to a game in a module IF the TO&E of the new Armies demands it. Case in point they added on map mortars to the game in the CMSF British module. They also did things like adding ERA Bradleys to every one's game when the Marine module came out. Another thing to consider is they gave us US light infantry in the British module so it's possible we could get US Rangers down the line even though no Rangers fought in Market Garden. -

Steve has said Market Garden will include new Dutch terrain. -

I'm still wondering how they will handle some one having the Market Garden module but not the Commonwealth. -

German side as far as vehicles we could be seeing the Hetzer and Nashorn and maybe some new halftrack variants. Allied side we might also see the Sherman Jumbo and Challenger. The Fallshirmjaegers should bring some Recoilless Rifles with them. Also if they have ground to air coded by then-which imho is more likely then fire- we could have all sorts of new stuff like Wirblewinds and quad halftracks not to mention aa arty pieces. -
I thought the real issue was coding the AI to use it properly.

CW module before Xmas?
Sequoia replied to Tactical Wargamer's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Let's hope for some Holiday Commonwealth screenshots later this week and by that I don't mean Commonwealth soldiers on Holiday. -
Please include this recce veh in a module

Well it has the plus of actually being in the field which is more than the E-100 had, and Steve said it may be included in a Bulge family module someday. -
CMBO CM:BN Equipment comparrison chart

But I would still like to see the Sdkfz 7 eventually just cause it would have been there with the 88's even though we don't get the hooking and unhooking ability. If nothing else the crew could use it to run away in if the gun is knocked out. By the way in artillery terms the difference between a gun and a howitzer is that a howitzer fires its shells in a higher trajectory than a gun. This generally gives guns a longer range but I believe less accuracy. The 75mm leIG18 and and 150mm sIG22 were direct fire infantry guns. -
New Commonwealth screenshots.

I see some UK Airborne with Red Berets. Senior Officers I presume? Grog Point: For SS, some one in the Mods forum said SS never used camo helmet covers. -

According to the CMBO Unit Database, which is available in the repository, the Challenger first became available in Aug '44, which just makes it into the timeframe, though the database could be in error as I've noted in one previous instance, or it was still very rare in August. I don't know how common the Challenger was overall. Still two modules to go. The vibe I'm getting is flame vehicles will wait for the Bulge family, but maybe we'll get flak guns and vehicles with Market Garden. Oh and thanks Mord! -
Can't wait for the new Commonwealth module!

Mord, you need to do a CMBN vs CMBO Commonwealth vehicle comparison like you did for the base game. Please... -

It's interesting that we'll get the Marder 1 but not the Marder 2 but some one said this was the case in France '44. -
Hetzer wasn't available until Sept '44 so we won't see it until at least the Market Garden Module. But in the words of Meatloaf, two out of three ain't bad.

I do appreciate your timing... :)

Yes and the Canadians will have the Otter which is a first for CM (or was it in CMAK?). I wonder however if the Poles are in? Edit:Nevermind, I see we do get the Poles. -
Will I loose my units if I surrender? Obviously disappointing. I read through some old threads and it appears there was a similar issue with CMBN to which they found a solution. Is there any hope the fix will be carried over to CMSF? I read something about someone having an issue with the NATO German campaign as well.

The rising sun Module
Sequoia replied to Oneyearwarpilot's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
You mean like Curt Schilling does for the Advanced Squad leader game system? Actually Schilling promised his wife the game company would make a profit or he would sell it. -
You're absolutely right. I'd forgoten that. I suppose what I was thinking was that the Germans in the NATO module don't have the Typhoon even though IIRC they had it deployed before the RAF. I know there was discussion in the beta forums as to what to include or not. For example the NATO web page had and still does list the Boelkow BO 105 for German air support, but it was dropped late in development.

This thread is not to lament that they are not in the game but to discuss whether they would have been used in our hypothetical Syrian war in the late spring of 2008, especially in an air to ground role. My belief is yes, they would have been used to acheive air superiority over Syria but their use in a direct ground support to front line troops would have been very limited. Your views?

how does one purchase the M1A1SA TUSK Abrams?
Sequoia replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Eureka! I had to try 5 times but I finally got it. It does exist in the game. I'm sorry I ever doubted. That makes 6 different Abrams variants for the Army and 2 for the Marines. -

Thanks for looking. I tried it just like you said though and I still am getting the non-tusk M1A1SA. July, average, HBCT mount. 1.32. Mysterious. -
I wasn't thinking sweeping. I was refering to this post and assumed we'd see something in the next module or even a patch. If that's not the case, my bad.
