  1. I thought I'd ask about standard nomenclature of these vehicles. Are the nicknames Ferdinand and Elefant interchangable or is the Elefant the 1943 version and the Ferdinand the reworked version with a machine gun? Also was the nickname Brumbar actually used by the Germans or is it one applied after the fact such as Bishop and Jackson? Thanks
  2. Doing some digging, I found Dunn in Soviet Blitzkrieg mentions the 1823rd Assault Gun regiment , part of the Fifth Army during Bagration having SU-85s. Fifth Army also had the flamethrower equipped 513th Tank Regiment but Dunn doesn't mention the exact type of tank
  3. I'm sure some people here would be interested in a boardgame based on the TV series Firefly but what really caught my attention is the parent company, based in New Zealand is also called Battlefront and produces the Flames of War series games and miniatures. I'm sure the two Battlefronts are aware of each others existence and have come to some agreement but I can see where it might cause people some confusion. Anyway I might get the game myself. If this breaks the rules for commercial links I ask for forgiveness. http://www.galeforcenine.com/
  4. Thanks guys. I found my source. It was Zaloga in his Osprey book, but the reference is rather vague with him saying only the Valentines were used for recon. Your info adds much detail. I should have also mentioned there were JS-IIs. Zaloga says 4 regiments totaling about 85. Besides that plenty of SU-76s and a fair number of SU-152s. On the German side, Dunn in Soviet Blitzkrieg says the Germans had some Ferdinands.
  5. Sublime. Let me check my source to make sure I'm not lying to you about the Valentines.
  6. Both T-34/85s and 76s in Bagration. Plus Shermans and IIRC Valentines.
  7. As Mike pointed out, it's difficult to make assumptions about BFC but I would think CM Touch helped Battlefront be able to do other projects, as most of the Touch programming was done by a third party and the increased revenue from Touch probably enabled them to do more than just the most popular subjects.
  8. No Romanians in the Army Group Center area. If I recall correctly there was a Hungarian Cavalry and Security division, mostly fighting Partisans. Once upon a time Steve said they wouldn't do any Axis Minor Armies on the Ost Front again other than the Finns, saying the demand to play them wasn't worth the work it took to include them, but he later hedged on this leaving open the possibility we might see them. If that would be in the 1944 Family or an earlier Family is any one's guess.
  9. The Fallschirmjaegers were the first to use Recoiless Rifles. Assuming they were still being used in the summer of '44 will we be seeing them with the Market-Garden Module? Is Recoiless Rifle even the prefered term for them or is Recoiless Gun given their calibre of 75 and 105 mm a better term? I'm also not sure when the Allies began using them. Thanks
  10. When asked in April 2009 as to when CMBN would be released we were told this too.
  11. No Captain Von Trapp was a Austrian U-boat commander in WWI.
  12. I seem to remember a scene from Band of Brothers where a G.I. takes an Edelweiss from a dead Gebirgsjaeger. Is that scene bogus?
  13. You're right AKD. I shouldn't have said it was confirmed by beta testers. Anyway here is a more recent quote on the subject:
  14. I believe it but is he on the payroll now?
  15. Regarding The Fallschirmjaegers: Here's the post announcing they would not be in the COMMONWEALTH module. Since then, many statements from beta testers have confirmed their presence in the M-G module.
  16. I don't think "something nice" will be a new game or at least not a PC game (it could be another tablet game).
  17. So is Ostfront being done in house or do you have a new team to work on it? ( I wouldn't like to use the term out house).
  18. Thanks all for your replies. Actually it was a Stuart M-5 chassis I was inquiring about but the T-19 info is interesting. The reason for my question originated because, just for fun, I'm making counters for my first introduction to grognardism decades ago -Panzerblitz. On the Imaginative Strategist website, I found two sets of counters for the M-8 with a Stuart chassis. One had a High Explosive attack factor of 5 which is standard for a 75mm gun, but there is another set with a High Explosive attack factor of 10. There are no notes as to exactly what the counters represent and I wasn't sure if it meant a Stuart chassis with a 105mm or the 75mm being used in indirect fire. After your posts I now believe it to be the latter.
  19. Was there ever such a beast? I seem to remember CMBO having one but its been a few years since I've played it so I'm no longer certain. Thanks.
  20. According to some notes I have from my almost 40 year old Destruction of Army Group Center board game, there was also a German tank destroyer battalion, the 281st, that was present in the sector at the start equiped with Jdpz Vs. It strikes me that a whole battalion of Jdpz Vs in June '44 seems unlikely so perhaps it also had a mix of Jdpz Vs Jdpz IVs and Stugs but I've found no other reference to the unit. Anyway, as Jason mentioned there's no need to limit the game to what was present on June 22nd.
  21. There is a combined US Army and Marine Dealership file and a British Forces file in the repository. There are also files for each of the NATO countries available at Green as Jade's Mod site. I think the US Army dealership is actually missing a couple of Abrams variants that are really difficult to bring up in the editor. see this thread where I tried to find them: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=100472&highlight=Eureka
