  1. Thanks for all the responses. Yea I am talking about those PERI/CITV kinds of things for the commander to look over berms and walls without exposing the turret. I see how those vision blocks kinda count too since they are above the turret but I was thinking about something high enough that we could take turret-down as well as hull-down positions. I was thinking it would be good way for Syria to have a chance at getting a first shot on an American tank. Since Syria gets shot before finding its target when cresting to look for a spotted American tank, I was thinking that as Syria Id rather wait a while before cresting for my TC to find the enemy with the periscope. Apparently this thread was inspired by a an old wrong assumption of mine. I was wrongly thinking that most non Abrams had some kind of periscope. Don't know where I got that idea.
  2. I thought I read somewhere that most Abrams don't have periscopes.? Not that it matters normally with the heavy armor but Id definitely use my periscopes if I had them in-game.

  4. Its like you didnt read what steve said in his second to last post on this thread. He explains how LOS between the explosion and the virtual soldiers is checked to see if any fragments have a chance of hitting the soldier. The only time LOS doesnt come into play is within the area where overpressure/ shockwave are the dominant destroyers. within this area cover still matters but not much because most cover wont stop your lungs from collapsing and bones breaking.
  5. Periscopes seem to me a substantial real world advantage to Syria which is not modeled. Are there any plans to add this feature? What do y'all think? Can Javelins target tanks by locking on to the periscope? Edit to add grimace and write the right word. Thanks Flaming Knives [ June 22, 2008, 11:52 AM: Message edited by: cool breeze ]
  6. I want to start getting back in them and I should be free for both. what time of day do they happen?
  7. I bet he wasn't talking about those. I remember he was talking about blowing up a tank.
  8. cool. I just saw a shorter max range and guessed older. Too bad they probably wont have both. I saw a snipers spotter switching between his dead sniper's sniper rifle and his AK it was awesome!
  9. Its like a smaller older RPG-7 right? will any squads get one of each? LTTE Tigers heavy weapons location shattered - 10-March-2008 Youtube video showing a real CM: SF trench [ May 31, 2008, 03:26 PM: Message edited by: cool breeze ]
  10. except sometimes. I just rushed the Blue AI in Al Hawl and got a total victory with I guess 15 casualties. Edit to add. it was a very careless rush. I gave on or two waypoint quick commands at start up to everyone and that almost it.
  11. I think the WYSIWYG approach to the unit terrain interactions was hella worth it despite the large amount of data required. If I had to re figure out a highly abstracted system like CMx1 for new spotting technology and new terrain and I still couldn't figure out when my infantry are protected by a crest Id have been really disappointed.
  12. Will some Syrian squads have two rocket launchers now?
  13. Dang! you really know your way around the internet!!

  16. with respect to light vehicles bugging out I dont think it is a problem when they do well. like when the reverse and break LOS. I agree survival should be a highest priority. What bugs me is when I got my light vehicles hiding in some brush at night and an enemy tank comes and all my vehicles start reversing up a slope into the open where they are easily seen. they could lived by staying still and waiting for my tank to blow up their tank but instead leave the good spot of running in the open. An retreat or dont retreat option would pretty much fix all this. But here is an idea, maybe for CMx3 Could we give back up orders, like if then statements? Like; if enemy tank shows up in this arc my stryker will reverse behind that house. But if a tank shows up over on that hill the stryker will pray hard and not move cause nowhere is safe. It seems like if this kind of system were some day added we could have a substantial improvement in realism. Any chance we'll get it someday?
  17. I think it should be an option. Retreat mode or stay mode. and sometimes they should retreat anyway
  18. but you might have trouble with humvee crews and such hiding in hopes
  19. Yikes! did Assault Breaker or WASP figure out how to beat the Russian attack? Would BFC dare model an all out conflict that the USA might badly lose?
  20. there are lots of RPGs in Iraq.. They were stupid to go back to where they were just shot at whatever way you look at it.
