  1. 'Red Orchestra' has done a poor job on how it handles 'Tank Ramming' or 'Tank Flipping...among other things. Its simply wrong & stupid, and happens all time on the battlefield. Basically, any vehicle ( AC, Truck, Tank, etc, ) can ram into another vehicle with no adverse affects to each other physically ( no damage to vehicle or crew ), except the vehicle getting rammed tends to semi-flip on its side and dragged across the battlefield like a cartoon. One example is the tendency of a Russian player to ram his AC, or German player his HT into sides of tanks in an attempt to flip them. Again, players tend to expoit this Modeling problem to their advantage...simply cause they can. Its really up to a clan running the server to impose such restrictions they feel is necessary.
  2. It figures that Noxnoctum would bring something like this up. I have seen that retarded stunt pulled by players all the time in RO, among other things...but hey, its unfortunately a no-holds-bar kind of game anyways and very little is remotely realistic. If it was up to me half-the things in RO would be banned. - Ramming, use of enemy weapons, Setting off charges before entering vehicle, etc, etc. I just hope they fix most of these issues in RO: HoS, but I fear some things will not change. Joe
  3. I also think that T-34/85s can KO King-Tigers on the flank and Stug fronts out to a kilometer.

    cmbb opponent?

Huhr, Ok, how about I send you over a game file this weekend, however, I only play AXIS in CMBB. Joe
  5. Rune, Thanks for the great info, and its definately helpful for sure.
  6. I have played CMx1 for many years, and some things regarding large Guns vs Armor that bothers me. I have read reports some years ago that anytime a JS2 with its 122 high-velocity gun hits a Tiger or Panther it would simple just explode ( turret comes flying off, hull cracked, suspension blown apart, crew casualites, etc ). However, in CM it seems that these large bore high-velocity guns have little affect if the shell itself doesn't penetrate. I also wonder the same thing with Large bore small caliber guns like the SU122, M4-105, StuH-105, etc, vs Armor. What effect would these have on Armor if no penetration occurs. While on the subject, I also play Red Orchestra ( WWII 1st person shooter ), and in the process of helping out with some Armor & Gun modeling. I want to try and model the KO accuracy of these larger bore guns. A JS2 for example would not KO a Tiger or Panther in one hit ( like I think it should regardless of penetration or angle ), but can take several to the hull ( especially if at an angle ) where rounds harmlessy bounce. Actually, RO has its own ways of handling armor. It usually takes a couple penetration hits to get a KO, and sometimes more. Any info would be appreciated. Thanx, Joe
  7. You can download many CMBB-CMAK mods from this link. Basically, you download the mod on your desktop ( or in any folder ), then open up that mod and copy & paste it directly into the CMBB or CMAK BMP folder...Remember to back up your files in case you dont like the new mod. http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods Joe
  8. Hello, Let me know if interested in playing small size games like 500 point QBs, or up to Company size engagements. We could even play Platoon size engagements if you want to help you get an idea how things work on a smaller scale. I can help you out on the game mechanics & tactics of Combat Mission, and how to successfully use them in a game. Let me know if interested, PM or email me back. I am sure that Moon can help you out somehow regarding a manual for Combat Mission. Joe

Hello CM Gamers, Looking for an opponent or two to play some 500 point combined Arms QB, or up to reinforced company size scenarios. However, I like to introduce some simple 'House Rules'. One being that all fire is to be directed by the AI ( except you can target with your HQs, and any units can still use Area-Fire ) instead from player. Please PM or contact me at irishwop67@aol.com to discuss any of the above. Thanx, Joe
  10. I remember there being small scenarios for CMAK based on a TV series back in the 50's. I think the TV series was called 'Battlefront' or somefink similar. Joe
  11. hey Scottie, If ever interested in small 500 QBs or up to reinforced company size engagaments ( I dont play anything larger ) just let me know. I have a semi-formula to help the game mechanics play better for both BB & AK. PM or email me at irishwop67@aol.com Thanx, Joe
  12. Hello Dave, If interested in playing some CMAK QBs or Scenarios that are up to Reinforced Company size, just PM. Thanx, Joe
  13. Hello CMx1 Gamers, Looking for a few opponents to play 600-700 point QBs, or up to Reinforced Company size scenarios. I live in the Eastern part of the U.S. For PBEM, I can return one or two files a day for 5 days a week. For TCP/IP, I can play after 10pm Mon-Fri, off and on during the day on weekends. Post reply or PM me back. Thanx, Joe
  14. I havent played either myself ( except the Demo ), but still hear dissapointing things with TOW2...I am simply going to wait for CM:N, and hope its a better system. Joe
  15. Ahh...The PZIVH/J is one of my fav late war tanks. I would just use standard Shoot & Scoot tactics as your best bet, a better crew quality also helps ( thou by the time the T34/85 comes along half the german crews are green ). Try to remember ( as most players do ) to use your other units on the battlefield to spot as it helps you make better decisions. Overall, I still dont expect more then a 2:1 Kill ratio against a similar armed unit. However, against a T34/76 I would double that. Keep in mind that this is for a fluid battlefield condition ( meeting engagement ), or if you are on defense.

Hello fellow CMx1 Gamers, I will be available to play anytime today or Sunday, just Post, PM, or Email me back ( with heading Combat Mission ). Thanx, Joe
  17. Yes, I would skip CMBO and go straight to AK & BB ( just use CMBO as a reference comparison between it and AK ). You can use ( like many other Combat Mission gamers have ) AK to simulate both the Mediterranean & NW Europe battles. Just dowload many of the AK scenarios at the 'Proving Grounds' & 'Scenario Depot' as it will contain many Med & NW Europe scenarios. You can still improve the graphics of BO to look close to that of BB & AK, but the game mechanics are still improved over BO. Once I went BB & AK, I never looked back ( Ok, maybe I did couple times against an opponent for chits & grins ). Joe
  18. Ummm...Harry, did you finally leave the BO bandwagon, lol. Joe
  19. I never liked the idea of ATRs & .50 cal taking out anything bigger then light armor ( light tanks, ACs, HTs, etc ) regardless, and even then it should take several rounds or bursts.
  20. Javelin, I use to play small Combined Arms QBs of around 300-600 points ( I still like them from from time to time for play test reasons...Now at around 600-1000 points, or up to reinforced Company size engagements ). I dont like the terrain that QBs offer, Scenario or Map designers tend to make more realistic maps. If you are able to import QB forces on a designer Map, that would be nice. I to remember playing 300-600 point Combined Arms, and many times the Ruskies get a T-34 vs a PZII or possibly a Marder...not pretty. If you think playing this way against a computer AI is hard, just try it against a human opponent.
  21. Yes, and why ATRs sometimes do a good job of annoying tank crews even if little or no damage. However, against lightly armored vehicles, it doesnt take much to annoy them.
  22. Ahhh ZiP, you fail to relieze...In RL, Vet crews are smart enough to bail, but Green crews just dont know any better, lol :-)
