  1. Hello Gumby, from your next door neighbor in Virginia. I prefer BB/AK small 600-700 point QBs using some House Rules that me and couple other players have developed over time. At the moment I can play AK, either Axis or U.S. only, can get in about 5 turns a week. Let me know your addy if interested, and will send you a setup along with House Rules. Joe
  2. This is abit off subject. I have been in the process of playtesting a way to somewhat slow down AT combat in CMx1 abit to better get the feel of WWII combat ( as it stands now CMx1 just reminds me of Modern day Combat to much ). This is accomplished by reducing the Borg Spotting slightly, reducing Rate of Fire, and reducing the chance to hit. Basically, this can only be done using using the Scenario Editor, and not by a QB. Armor: Units are bought by Platoon when applicable, and always Green. If you want a truly Green unit, give no command or combat bonus. If a Regular unit, give a Command and Moral bonus of 1 each. If Vet or above, give a Command and Moral bonus of 2 each. Armor must always be buttoned when applicable. This can be done by giving first a unbutton order, and then a button order ( this should make vehicles button for remainder of turn ). This makes it longer for armor to spot as it reduces visibility, rate of fire and chance to hit is decrease, because of being Green. Field Pieces: Field Pieces are always Green. purchase one Inf Sec or Inf PHQ per Field Piece. If you want the Field Piece to be truly green, then give only a Command bonus 2 ( that way the command unit doesnt have to be next to field piece ). If you want the Field Piece to be truly Regular, give a Command bonus of 2, Moral of 1, Attack of 1, Stealth of 1. If you want the Field Piece to be truly Vet, give Command-Moral-Attack-Stealth with bonus of 2. Also, let the AI control fire of these units above instead of player ( this includes fire combat against Hard and Soft targets such as Inf ). However, a player may still use 'Area-Fire at anytime. The above gives you a general idea of what I am going for. You may want to play test these and other aspects to better suite your taste.
  3. Vark, Thanks for the test results. Unfortunately, we all know the CMx1 has its problems in regards to Borg Spotting and fast reactions times. I think in RL it would take several minutes to destroy an AT platoon or a tank company, and not just one turn . Everytime I see these results, it reminds me of modern day combat where whole tank companies or field pieces can die in a matter of a couple minutes, but not in WWII. Joe
  4. Rimfire, Most people are playing CMBB ( Eastern Front 41-45 ), and CMAK ( Western Front - Mediterrainian Theater to include Desert, Med Islands, Italy ). In CMAK, many people including myself modded it to also include NW Europe. So now I play CMAK for all my Western Front Battles.

Ok, at the moment I have all CMBB players needed. Thanx, Joe
  6. http://www.madshipyard.com/index.htm Came across this 'Trek Site' that has some pretty nice artwork.
  7. Rimfire, I too like many others have played CMBO years ago before moving on to CMBB/CMAK. However, I dont mind dusting my old copy off, and playing again for old times sake. What is your email so I can send over a game file. It will be a small 700 point QB, Combined Arms, Meeting, Sept. 44, I am U.S. and you AXIS, Village, Random Weather. Joe
  8. I have restrictions to SMG Squads in most my games as they are overmoddled in my opinion ( I prefer using SMG half-squads or at 60% strength as the firepower value works out better ).

Looking for a couple opponents to play small 600-700 point QBs, Combined Arms or Armor, Meetings or Probes ( no Attack/Defense ), 41-45, Village or Urban, Random Weather, I play Axis only. You can post reply below, or email me at: irishwop67@aol.com with heading Combat Mission. Joe
  10. Just U.S. dressed as Germans, along with U.S. HTs, and hence U.S. propoganda.
  11. Heinrich, Yes, and both your comments above is why I like to have mandatory covered arcs in all my games. It works well with both, the early war Soviet rigid C & C system,( early war scenarios, you still need to have things like Soviets coming on piece-meal or arriving late, or Germans start on Soviet flank for it all to work together ) and the late war less rigid but more mythodical Soviet Mass & overwhelming strengh tactics. Mind you, I also use these House Rules for both BB/AK and for all Nationalities.
  12. Heinrich, How about this below, I use it in all my BB/AK games as a general rule of thumb with some variants. - If planning on or already have a Fast Move order this turn; Can engage out to quarter max range ( 500 meters for most direct fire vehicles ). This because, I believe while Fast moving you only have time to spot and engage units that are at short range. - If planning on or already have a Move or Hunt Order this turn; Can engage out to half its max range ( 1000 meters for most dircet fire vehicles ). Hunt just allows you to halt and fire more accurately, but since its not fully stationary the entire turn, it wont benifit from having max range. - If planning on or already have a Shoot & Scoot Order ( its a fast shoot order ); Can engage out to quarter its max range ( 500 meters for most direct fire vehicles ). This because, I believe thats only enough time to spot, engage before falling back to cover. - If Stationary for whole turn; Can engage out to max range ( 2000 meters for most direct fire vehicles ). - If combining orders that turn, then take the worst case when determing your max range that turn. Since the Soviet C & C is rigid when Attacking with large formations of Armor and Inf ( Bn on up ), there should be some additional factors or penalties. Force the Soviets to only use the Move or Fast Move order ( along with a max firing arc range of 500 meters for both ) till atleast one unit in the formation passes an objective, when in the following turns they may use any order. Only give Stationary, or Hunt orders to units meant to overwatch the advance ( TDs, SP guns, Field Pieces ). This is where the majority of the soviet casualties are caused However, If playing small Soviet defenses or Counter-Attacks ( ex; A Soviet tank Plt along with an Inf Co takes a village and Germans counter-attack later - Basically how we play most of our BB games ) the Soviet C & C is not as rigid at this smaller scale. I would then suggest to use the normal system at top. This is where the soviet casualties are usually minimized. 180 degree arcs will prevent distractions on the far flanks of the advance, especailly for Soviet trying to take a position and engaging only at short range or die trying. This also lets each attacking force worry about its own flanks while Stationary (overwatch) units fire at Medium to long range to the front or to protect the flanks of those advancing units.
  13. First: click on Start Game, then double click on Quick Battle. Second: Select the time frame paremeters, then click Ok to open up next screen. Third: Choose whatever paremeters you like down the whole list (no-holds bar would be the same as choosing Force Mix Unrestricted). Forth: continue to each page until your done, and you will have your first Quick Battle. Just ask if any more questions.
  14. Has anyone tried used Firing Arcs for the Russian Armor When at full charge give them about a 90 degree armor arc ( 45 degrees to either side, or just the full 180 degree since that is easier to do ) and 250 meters max range if at full charge or planning on using Shoot and Scoot orders that turn -OR- 500 meters max range when using Hunt orders that turn. This will keep the Russian Armor shooting at targets within their approach path up to medium range instead of flank or Inf distractions.
  15. Hello Nox, Ok, I can play either BB or AK with following conditions: Small games up to 700 point QBs, Combined Arms or Armor, Meeting or Probes, Farm thru small Town, Random Weather, I play Axis only for BB, but Axis or Allies ( U.S. only ) for AK. Let me know which one you are interested in, and will setup the file. Joe
  16. Not sure, but in future its better to post these kinds of questions in the 'General Disscussion' area. This is because, its not directly related to CMBB.
  17. Hello, and welcome to the Battlefront Forum. You can download most of your CMBB Scenarios and these two sites: http://www.the-scenario-depot.com/ http://www.the-proving-grounds.com/ You can also Mod your CMBB and find additional Scenarios at this site: http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods You may need to register at all sites in order to download. When you click on a scenario just download it directly into your CMBB Scenario Folder, and it will be there when you start-up the game.
  18. WOW ! you could see 800 meters in CMx2 through wooded vegitation. In RL I can barely see that far in the open, and taking several seconds to a minute to spot someone at that. In CMx1, I was even suprised there was LOS past one tile worth of woods or Forest, or two tiles of Scattered trees, and spotting a target instantly. I really hope things change in CM-Normandy and beyond.
  19. Ziploc, Immobile, and Gun Damge are the only damages a vehicle can take in CM.
  20. My guess is that umlaut is exactly correct.
  21. I think its more expensive, because of the availability of the Panther in Russian service, and crew quality-ex. slower reaction times.
  22. Ok, I am using 'Photobucket' to host my pics of the items that are for sale. http://photobucket.com/JoMc67 First: I have posted up models in various scales, some factory painted, others new in box or sealed box. Take a look at the website and see if anything interests you, then PM or email me back to discuss the specifics of the item and price. You will notice that only the name of item is listed but not the description as of yet. Next week I will post the Mirco-Armor Miniatures/Rules, then following week the Books. I would also like to post 'Photobucket at other Military models/miniatures websites to see if I can sell something there. Can some members post other sites that I can try to use to sell my stuff. At end of month I will try to post on ebay as well. Any info would be appreciated. Thanx Joe
  23. Pak, There is alot of Modern Crap, early & late Nato, early & late Warsaw Pact, Israeli forces that are painted & unpainted. Still looking through the WWII stuff, but will let you know soon.
  24. Ok, My fault as I was thinking of another set of rules called 'WWII Battlefront' from the makers of 'Fire and Fury.' For some reason or another thought it was the same rules. Hmmm, now you guys got me interested in this FoW. Going to look through their website now, and maybe make a trip to the local Hobby Shop.
