  1. I definitely am more averse. Now when I go back to CMx1 those decreasing unit numbers mean a little more, too I think it's a combination of the visceral experience of each man being taken down, but also the more realistic _effect_ of this. The effect in CMx1 was a few numbers change (firepower and maybe moral status) but that's really all. You could drive a CMx1 unit to 1 man as long as it didn't panic. I think that CMBN units panic more realistically, and start to fail to operate more realistically, with guys cowering etc. GaJ
  2. And check out The CM MODs Warehouse too (even though it's only got a few right now). GaJ
  3. Hi All, Uploading to CMMODS is now working without throwing an error screen. It's not managing to post a notification automatically here yet, I'm still working on that as I have a moment (hey, I have a new game to play ) Please feel free to add your gorgeous art up at CMMODS, post here manually in the mean time. GaJ
  4. Riiight now I understand that comment in the manual ... makes fine sense. So can we have different icons for AFV and INF contacts? GaJ
  5. I too would like to see this, but even more important than the armoured covered arc is the infantry firing at tanks thing. I was astonished in the first turn of encountering a number of tanks in one go at the amount of bullets flying around and everyone giving themselves away. I thought they would be smarter ... CMx1 troops would never fire at a tank unless ordered. Mind you, this underlines the principle that troops should always be given covered arcs to avoid accidents ... seems to apply in CMBN as much as CMx1 (where the first thing I would do is give everyone a covered arc). 6. So, this is really well thought out isn't it? I mean, the forum has a 10 character minimum post, and we're getting polls asking us to vote "yes" or "no". I vote that BFC get a facepalm smiley for the forum, for occasions like this. And really, who is going to come and vote "no"? How is this poll going to mean anything? I vote no. I couldn't care less if this is or is not included. GaJ
  7. I think simox is agreeing with your data, and complaining about the game. The tube guys are using their weapons at too great a range... GaJ
  8. No. (by which I mean I couldn't care less, not that I think it should not be there)
  9. I uploaded this mod to CMMODS, in order to test out CMBN mod uploading. The mod is there now - if this is not OK let me know and I'll pull it off. 5 people already downloaded it from the new place Mod uploading actually works, though it throws an error screen at the moment due to not succeeding to post a message here about the new mod. Hopefully fixed soon. GaJ
  10. You would think so. But the manual says, and I quote: "- You cannot hear unspotted enemies" What does that mean?? GaJ (Placebo: they can't do mis-ID, because the whole game engine is designed around the fact that the 3D graphical model is the actual model. So if they display a Tiger, then incoming rounds will hit it as if it is a Tiger. Then we'd all be complaining "hey, that .22 round bounced at 45 degrees off the Tiger's mantle, that can't be right!?" )
  11. Wolfseven: cmmods has been up the whole time. Sorry I didn't get any email from you. Maybe it went in a spam filter.... Just now I borrowed Alexander's Contact Icon Mod and posted it at CMMODS to test things out. It's posted OK, but the notification here isn't working for some reason. Hmmmm...
  12. Gee, how would I have guessed it was like that in CMSF? There was me thinking that this was some cruel joke they added to CMBN... GaJ
  13. We all know that sound contact representation is a tough one. I know the reasons why mis-ID can't be done etc. However, could we please have different icons for AFV vs INF contact? This might just lessen ever so slightly the nasty experience at the moment of tanks coming out of the blue from no-where. I think that this problem is also contributed to by the fact (according to the manual) that you don't get sound contacts unless the unit is spotted, or something like that? What is the deal about that? GaJ
  14. YAYAY for the good news about fixing the invisible action spot! It's such a damn shame that it's the Tutorial that appears to be the most affected! I was so happy when I started a different scenario and suddenly I could see what was going on...
  15. Did the rest of you get the email in a wierd format? For me it was all text jammed together, no formatting. I can kinda understand how someone didn't see the "please don't email" in the middle of all that. Also, WTF difference was it supposed to make anyhow? Everyone who preordered got the email, and would be downloading, so how does "don't tell anyone" actually help? I'm starting at 3 hours to completion, <100kbs. But who really cares, a few hours here or there... GaJ
  16. I don't think this is it. It happens at low graphics model settings, and it happens even after all the trees and grass are drawn...
  17. It seems that if you play any of the scenarios as the attacker, you have "?" icons giving you a darn good idea where the defenders are during setup. The defender doesn't get any "?" icons during his setup. Is this deliberate? How does the attacker get such good intel? This is on Warrior and (I think) Elite. GaJ
  18. The biggest thing I'm missing, too, is sound contacts of tanks. The problem with CMx1 was that once you heard them you pretty much knew where they were. Its fair that this problem has not been propagated. But the opposite is pretty nasty: tanks appear out of no where with no prior warning, instead of that nasty "I can hear it where is it" thing that would really have been happening.
  19. Are individual pieces of shrapnel from treebursts modelled? If not, how exactly does this effect come into play?
  20. There are definitely directions/situations of bocage where you can't get the foxhole near it. I agree that there are some situations where you can: I haven't figured out the difference yet. Should treebursts be fatal to guys in trenches in wooded areas? I thought a trench was a good place to be in an arty shower... GaJ
  21. Great tip! I wondered why we have keys for in-game control of the graphics detail level... now I know!
