Bocage tip for WEGO players
GreenAsJade replied to Wodin's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yeah, can someone shed some light on this? THe OP implies that you can blow a hole in 20 seconds, but I can't blow a hole at all.. -
Zombie death lurch

It's the operatic ending ... like in any good western, as well. -
Ground Moves Under Cursor
GreenAsJade replied to Crender's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Nah, that doesn't make sense, because the whole border of the road moves, not just the action spot. At least, that's what I recall, I'll have to have another look. While we're on this sort of thing: the other problem is that in the tutorial, the highlighting of the action spot is almost invisible for me. It seems like it's the same colour as the setup colour, or something. In fact, for a while it was driving me nuts not knowing where the click was going to go, until I realised that there was this faint thing telling me. It's _much_ nicer when setting up on a red background, I've discovered. Is this modable: a more visible action spot? GaJ -
Ground Moves Under Cursor
GreenAsJade replied to Crender's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yay! I'm glad someone else is reporting this! I didn't report it because I'm on a laptop, and I thought "meh - probably my crappy graphics card". I find it to be worst along the starting road of the training scenario: the whole border of that road moves up and down. -
I really like it when my graphics controller gets behind and displays the bocage as vertical green walls with clear gaps. Can it be modded to do this all the time?
-
Oh, bum. They pop back E-W when you split them apart! So you can only have diagonal trences if they are >1 trench long... ?
-
Nice tip! So trenches can rotate only to major compass points, then, it seems? (N, NW, E SE etc)
-
I'm trying to set up as Axis in Busting Through The Bocage. I'd like to move and reorient some of the trenches. I can see how to move them, but it seems I can't reorient them? I was expecting them to have a "Face" command, but they don't... What's the deal there? GaJ

So ... you can see my file, right ... it's attached. I admit that I saw "not used" and I didn't know what "not used" meant. I deduced that this was the slot in the file for "Cancel Target" by it's position. I didn't even know that it was mapped to "delete", since this isn't stated in the file. The wierd thing is that the J that I put in the file does appear in the GUI!!! The GUI says that "J" is the key for this function... yet it doesn't work that way. Surely that's a bug... GaJ

Oooo! I wonder if that's what happened to me? I would love a "simplify bocage" button. Sometimes when I task-swap back to CMBN, the bocage is all drawn as flat green walls with gaps at the holes, till the graphics card catches up. It'd be great to be able to select that way of drawing it at will, so you can see where the holes are... GaJ

Fire Support Request question
GreenAsJade replied to BDW's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Here's a +1 for a "back" key on the arty dialog. I'm finding I have to cancel the whole dialog and start again if I make a mistake. Hey, I make mistakes! What a pain! -
Enemy Intel wierdness (Basic vs Warrior)
GreenAsJade replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It does help to know where the bad guys are eh? Then you just get a spotter in place, blow the crap out of them with the mortars, and mop up. Too easy -
(that smile says "you said something I think is funny", but it says it too succinctly to be posted)
-
I'm not sure what your point is? I'm reporting that the interface says that the Cancel Target is "J" when I use the appended file, but pressing J does nothing. This seems like a bug. Are you saying that "no matter what the GUI says, actually "cancel" is going to be stuck to be "delete""? I guess that will be good to know, though it would be kinda sucky? GaJ

Seriously?! Internal vehicle modelling?
GreenAsJade replied to von Murrin's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Lemon: YEAH! Thats what I'm talking about! Love it! Actually, I was hoping to see whether there was some obstacle that was causing the tank drivers foot (or is it hand?) getting stuck on the controls, making them drive in such a jerky way... kinda like the spotting bug, only for the driver... GaJ -
Yeah I saw this too - LOL!! I was thinking "what a cool squad, sliding the last few meters while under fire ... that's taking style too far!"

Seriously?! Internal vehicle modelling?
GreenAsJade replied to von Murrin's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I was disappointed that all the crew weren't visible when I pushed into the Sherm ... after Steve's bug report, I thought they'd all be there pushing and pulling levers, looking into scopes, loading shells etc. I wanted to wack the driver over the head for his clumsy foot on the clutch ... GaJ -
Enemy Intel wierdness (Basic vs Warrior)
GreenAsJade replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I think this is one simply for BTS to worry about, introducing people to the game. And that's probably not high on the agenda, so we can put it down to "yeah, who cares", for sure. It just ... is. And I dunno if you tried it, but actually Basic is quite a lot harder than Warrior for the Demo, especially "blind" (IE if you don't already know where those guys are). You loose a _lot_ of scouters, compared to knowing where the bad guys, roughly, are sitting. GaJ -
Crossing streams - Bug or Feature?
GreenAsJade replied to fatherof6's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
There are two wierd things for me about this: 1) I tried to make my guys cross the stream and could not. 2) Later, I sent them to the trees near the heavy bridge in the background of the last picture. Because of the way that squads are dispersed, some of the guys ended up in the water. The hilarious thing is that when they take cover they duck down into the water, coming up again only to fire GaJ -
I want "J" to be "cancel target" (specifically, I'm interested in cancelling covered arcs with j, FWIW... like CMx1). So I'm using the attached file. The menu in-game says that "cancel target" is J. When I click the button, targets are cancelled. But when I hit "J" they are not. Help? hotkeys.txt

Why is Nobody unsing the BF-Toolbar-Chat
GreenAsJade replied to Sledge110's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Toolbars: blech. There's a steam group, and all the old CM clubs are swinging into CMBN gear. Check them out. GaJ http://webandofbrothers.yuku.com/directory
