  1. This is simply not true. There is a world of difference between an imprecise statement ("the enemy is out there ") and a lie ("there are no enemy forces out there"). "There are no enemy forces in the town ahead of you" is a stupid lie if there are enemy forces in the town ahead of you. "Scouts could see little if any activity in the town ahead of you" is a better way to say this... GaJ
  2. Weho said a balanced scenario has to have neticulously balanced forces? With the right victory conditions, the forces can be 10:1 against one side... GaJ
  3. For sure. Lie in the briefing: epic fail. Obviously. What's the point in "beating" the AI? When you've finished training, then play H2H GaJ
  4. Make your historical scenarios _balanced_. Yes I said it. Even ole CMx1 had a way to achieve this, with bonus points etc. With its new complex victory conditions, there is absolutely no reason for both sides in any scenario not to have a chance of victory, however that is defined. GaJ
  5. The Youtube videos were wonderful, but I think they show actually how badly "overdone" the suspension modelling is. In each youtube video, the tank "lurches" once as it changes acceleration, but I never saw the tank bouncing back and forwards on its haunches like we see in the AAR videos. That "silly' look is worse than no modelling of this at all, IMHO. Real tanks, at least from the totally limited view that the two youtubes show us, appear to have well damped suspension, unlike CMBN tanks that we see in the AAR... Of course, I'd much rather have the game release with underdamped suspension than have them hold it up to fix it OTOH I would much rather have had the game sooner without any suspension modelling... kinda candy, really? GaJ
  6. He's just being snarky. Excuse us, Erik, for posting ... us old farts just to like to chinwag eh? GaJ
  7. Where does it talk about this? I thought pre-order was for those wanting the steel box. Since right now me and my folk are struggling for pennies, the steel box was not something I could lash out on... GaJ
  8. There's a log of pages in this thead. Has it become a "sign up" thread? If it has ... I'm in.
  9. Will there be some sort of queuing or other load management in place when this thing comes out? Or is it every man for himself, pray smoke doesn't come out of the ethernet running to BFC when downloads are opened? GaJ

  16. LongLeftFlank posted a new scenario mod at the CMSF Mods Warehouse. It's LongLeftFlank's "USMC Ramadi (IRAQ) - Relief of JOKER 3" "This scenario and map faithfully recreates a well-documented historical action that took place in the city of Ramadi, Iraq on April 6, 2004. 3 separated Marine squads are besieged in a sprawling residential area by hundreds of insurgents. Two mobile QRF platoons starting at opposite ends of the 1km x 0.5km map must locate and rescue them. Victory depends entirely on keeping US casualties below 5% of forces engaged. It will require a very different style of gameplay and urban tactics than you may be used to. Replayability should be high. I strongly recommend downloading my Islamic Cemetery and Improved Shopfront mods for use with this map." GaJ

  19. It will be interesting to discover whether CMBN correctly simulates this, because I think this is largely a C&C factor, right? A good test of the "process based" C&C implementation would be whether this real life experience is true in CMBN also...
