  1. But what does this mod help with his wish to play only a single country instead of an alliance?
  2. Well, that was just an enducated guess of mine. I don't know anything about how to programm an AI or how to tell her what to do.
  3. I guess everybody likes what Leon is suggesting. Thats why there are some games around (today and back in the past) where this option was avaiable. What i do remember from these games (like SSI's Clash of Steel) was that you sometimes got angry because the AI moved not, moved bad, or simply failed. I guess programming the AI to understand and play well together with a human ally is quite a bit of work (you need probably a dozen more battleplans for the AI, as an example).
  4. You will find an excellent europe only campaign in SC WW1!
  5. Hi JC LEON. The Gold expansion is a truly worthy add-on fo SC GC, but it doesn't offer the feature you would like to get: you still have to play all countries of your alliance. For most players (like me) this is of course a dream come true . But i can of course understand your feelings too.
  6. This can happen everywhere (Gibraltar, etc.). Well, not so unrealistic, i guess.
  7. norvandave, what Sapare ment wasn't a tech upgrade but a reinforcement. You can see that the detachment can indeed be reinforced up to ten by a look on the unit information: current strength 6 (of 10). I guess that Bill is on the right track here, that the units has been cut of. Unfortunatly no way to tell with most of the screen shot blacked out (which is btw. probably not the best idea if you want to get help fast).
  8. Yes, of course, heard of it, but even though the sub carried sea planes, well, if this quilifies to be called a "carrier", well, than nearly every WW2 CA and BB were carriers as well. What came to my mind when i read your post were the FA 330 gyro-gliders some germans subs had on board. Btw.: Germany had a similar experiment, which was canceled: the Arado Ar 231 And here the wikipedia list with all submarine-borne aircrafts.
  9. The answer to your question is "Hunt". Silent is to sneak past destroyers (better chance if activated) and if you don't want to give away your position, even though you placed your sub on a convoy line. This might be a sound strategy if you want to surprise your opponent.
  10. If i remember correctly that was a mod which offered slightly different graphics and a somewhat more polished map. I didn't liked it, so i never kept it. But that was two computer ago, so i can't help you with anything else but the statement that it wasn't such an important mod worth keeping or installing, at least not for my personal taste. Feel free to download the SC WW1 or the SC GC demos and compare them with SC1. It might turn out that you end feeling that you were hunting for the wrong game (mod), as both games are so much better than SC1 (which, of course, wasn't bad either, 10 years ago).
  11. Hi procrastinator13. Sounds like this is a case for the helpdesk.
  12. b6583, the answer is pretty easy. First, be sure that you have enabled the "undo" option when you start the game. Here you can see the "undo" option DISabled and it looks like this when you have enabled the "undo" option: If you started the game with "undo" enabled you can move your unit (while you haven't moved the "undo" button is not displayed on the right side of the screen) but once you have moved your unit the "undo" button will appear on the right side of the screen (simply click on it to undo your move) Important restriction: if your movedhad lifted the fog of war anywhere on the map (like if you have had discovered a once hidden unit or new and before your move unknown unit inormations like experience, strength etc.), you won't be able to undo your move anymore. This prevents human players to do multiple recon moves with one and the same unit within a single game turn (move left, undo, move right, undo, move up, undo, ... you get the picture).
  13. Thought about something like this too. Condition should be that rapidfire stops if the target gets destroyed. Problem: what about defensive artillery? In a way your suggestions suggest to abandon battle animations at all. For this there is already an optional switch in the game, if i remember correctly.
  14. Thanks Bill. Is there a way to make this arrow loop a sub-only movement path, or to have big ships make a diplo hit on Denmark or the USA?
  15. Bill, can you please once more explain the reasons why these arrows are only a one-way travel possibility? I would like to suggest to allow movement in both directions, and both with a high chance to lose the ship completly or to receive some mine damages.
  16. If at all, than i would prefer a "Strategic Command General" game for the iPad. You don't want to scroll over a LARGE map with these little screens.
  17. Hi Papafourtwo. As far as i know it would be a rather big piece of work to bring the Pacific game one the same build as the latest SC Global Conflict GOLD or SC WW1, so it will probably not happen, or if at all, only a transfer of the campaign into SC GC Gold or SC WW1. But even this is probably right now out of the question. The challenge unitl further notice is therefor up to the Pacific fan crowd to create a SC Global Conflict GOLD or SC WW1 mod of this great campaign. I may be of course wrong, but that is what i remember from former questions regarding this topic.
  18. The Russians will sooner or later attack. But later could be in 1942. But once you invaded the UK, than Stalin will attack pretty soon.
  19. Blitzkrieg 49, if you have the great Gold-Expansion, than you have a couple of campaings which already start in the middle of the war (so you won't need so long to play through, Brute Force or not).
  20. You missed the right forum, but anyway: welcome to the realm of Strategic Command - World War 1: The Great War 1914-1918.
  21. Thanks PowerGmbH. The germans failed even to smuggle Agents into the USA or the UK. Hard to imagine that the same organization should be successful in staging a coup that even Francis Drake would have made look like a bloody amateur. I'm all in favour of spicing up dead regions. But a 3 or 4 times smaller mission would have been far better. Sink the Jean Bart, sink the gold transport, plot false intel, send saboteurs via sub, or rescue Agents by sub. But not steal a carrier (it is not a single carrier in SC terms, its a carrier group), steal a CA task force, well, that was definetly too much. You can tell because this never happened, and nothing comparable did happen anywhere else. Alone the german capture fo a caribbean carrier task force is so unlikely like a german base on the dark (we come in peace) side of the moon.
  22. off topic, sorry, but i couldn't resist: [Captain Darling is writing at his desk. There is a knock at the office door.] Darling Come! [bA enters the office.] Darling Ah, Captain Blackadder. BA Good morning, Captain Darling. Darling What do you want? BA You're looking so well. Darling I'm a busy man, Blackadder. Let's hear it, whatever it is. BA Well, you know, Darling, every . . . every man has a dream . . . Darling Hmmm . . . BA . . . and when I was a small boy, I used to watch the marsh warblers swooping in my mothers undercroft, and I remember thinking `Will men ever dare do the same?' And you know . . . [Darling rises from his desk.] Darling Oh, you want to join the Royal Flying Corps? BA Oh, that's a thought. Could I? Darling No, you couldn't! Goodbye! [Darling sits back down.] BA Look, come on, Darling, just give me an application form. Darling It's out of the question. This is simply a ruse to waste five months of training after which you'll claim you can't fly after all because it makes your ears go `pop'. Come on, I wasn't born yesterday, Blackadder. BA More's the pity, we could have started your personality from scratch. So, the training period is five months, is it? Darling It's no concern of yours if it's five years and comes with a free holiday in Tunisia, contraceptives supplied. Besides, they wouldn't admit you. It's not easy getting transfers, you know. [Darling returns to his work.] BA Oh, you've tried it yourself, have you? [Darling breaks his pencil.] Darling No, I haven't. BA Trust you to try and skive off to some cushy option. Darling There's nothing cushy about life in the Womens Auxiliary Balloon Corps. [bA raises his eyebrows at this.] Darling Ah . . .
  23. This Disneyland "Miission" was one of the reasons why SC got quite a heavy broadside of critic when it got tested in the german gaming webside "Gamersglobal.de". I too consider it absolute fantasy that german buccaneers reach the caribbean to board and seize an enemy CARRIER AND CRUISER, and after song, dance and arh-arh-arh & ho-ho-ho leave the treasure island with sacks filled of Gold and shipsloads of Plunder. Next thing would be to offer a DE to search for the holy grail. Once found, Germany wins the war. Yes, your Fort de France DE is that far streched from history. Unfortunately. Much better would have been a DE for try to get or salvage vichy french ships in Oran.
  24. I wouldn't want it any other way. And by the side, this Denmark remark was rubbish (RUBISH, RUBISH!). Everybody knows that Denmark aches only for peace, and to win a Swiss invasion, of course.
  25. I would go even further. If AH would have given into the Rumanians wish to receive recognition of its rights over the (AH) territory of Trannsylvania, they might have even brought into the CP camp, especially if they would have gotten promised Bessarabia once Russia had been defeated. Could make a nice DE, just like the Italian one about Trento & Trieste. If Rumania joins the Entente, it would be nice if -once Rumania is about to be defeatet- the UK could order ieutenant-Colonel Christopher Thomson to destroy the Rumanian oil wells.
