  1. The pool is open! See Ya!

  2. That's good but I was thinking of this. Took me a while to find it. http://youtu.be/L0bcRCCg01I Look here, Mars. Look here, Mars! These Panther tanks are my gift to you!
  3. Okay, but what I'm not understanding is, why take all of his stuff? This smacks of police over-investigating. They were looking for a connection to some supposedly illegal artwork, then just arbitrarily decided to take his weapon collection for no reason. The guy is 78 years old, and has obviously spent a good portion of his life and probably millions of dollars restoring that tank, then the police show up one day and just take it all. That makes me sad. If the investigations turn up nothing, that guy should get his tank back, but something tells me he won't.
  4. In my experience, mortar teams will refuse to fire on vehicles they cannot damage. I tried to hit a StuG with a mortar during The Road to Montebourg, and my mortar team just sat there like, "you're joking, right?"
  5. As soon as the link is up I'll grab the new version.
  6. After staring at those screenshots, I realized I was drooling.
  7. From my recent game against Raptorx7: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/119950-13-minutes-an-aar-of-sorts-slim-vs-raptorx7/ http://youtu.be/z0qcpGwNFp0?t=24m28s
  8. That also helps if you need to move quickly, you don't have to wait for the driver to turn the hull, you can just go full speed ahead.
  9. Just like all of these incidents, I believe it's the latter. I can see it now, "What if the torpedo exploded?! Won't someone think of the children?" Well, the torpedo has been sitting there not exploding for 71 years, so I think it's okay. I think the real problem is people tend to ascribe a malevolent intelligence to weapons, as if the torpedo has been waiting patiently for a busload of children to come by before it explodes with all of it's might! That kind of attitude is childish. The Mayor of the town reported that everyone knew the guy had the stuff in his house, and no one seemed to care until recently. It's very strange to me. In my town, there's a guy who has a demilled (no firing pin, breech block welded shut) 75mm Pack Howitzer in his back yard. No one cares, no one calls the cops, the government hasn't swooped in to confiscate it, kids go over and look at it all the time. To this date it has not come alive and blown up anything yet.
  10. I do find bocage to be effective at stopping bazooka rounds, much to my chagrin.
  11. Too bad they'll probably cut it into scrap. I do believe there's only about a dozen Panther tanks left in the world, yes? http://youtu.be/ZRpY6anuJE4
  12. I didn't notice that gap in the trees earlier, it does look like a good position, but Doug doesn't show any close ups in his vids, so it's hard to tell what's going on.
  13. That's what I figured. I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page. Good luck!
  14. I think the real question is, how many Shermans will it take to get Doug to react by moving his Panthers? One? Probably not. Two? Maybe. Three? Definitely. Once those Shermans are deployed in that dead ground, they will be safe unless Doug moves his Panthers to engage. When he does, your M10 will have a chance to take them out. The question for you Bil, is how many tanks you would be willing to trade to take out both Panthers?
  15. I think I know what it is, or at least I know what I would do in your situation. Do you use lures when you bait fish?
  16. I think Doug will lose the whole left side position on that forested hill if he doesn't stop Bil's Shermans from coming out of the woods. I had posted my previous comment before looking at the game threads, I think Bil is going to try a right hook with Easy Company and hit the VL on that side, supported by his tanks. Doug needs to do something now, because I can see Bil putting together some Panther bait real soon...
  17. Sound contacts usually appear as a trail of separate contact markers, forming an intermittent path along which the unit is moving. For slow moving vehicles, 1 contact marker constantly updating itself is common.
  18. Reading John's AAR's from way back in the day of the ROW Tournaments was one reason I bought Combat Mission in the first place. I feel I owe it to the guy to get him back into the PBEM scene, he's been out for a long time.
  19. Not only does Bil have quantity on his side, but on an individual basis, his men have an average firepower advantage over Doug as well. Gotta love that M1 Garand. I think the opening moves by the infantry on both sides will prove decisive. Doug cannot easily use his Panthers to support his infantry with that M10 providing top cover, and Bil can't use his Shermans effectively until the Panthers are knocked out.
  20. Yes there is, at the end of a battle, you can click review map. In the map you can select any friendly or enemy unit to see what casualties it has caused.
  21. A tutorial would be excellent, Bil. I haven't used Excel in about 10 years. I did download the Command Friction Rules pdf, and I'm going to try to integrate some rules into my current PBEM with John Kettler. As I said before, I had my own house rules, but these are better. Especially with regards to the rules for communications, and defining tasks. My previous house rules were to implement a command delay to simulate the passage of communications, and to only allow units to 'react' (i.e. Area Fire, etc.) on positions to which they have a contact icon. I had looser rules in regards to voice communication, but I also included the use of runners to pass a voice command to multiple units quickly. Even simple rules like this provided a lot of friction, especially in Shock Force playing as combatants. The way I figured it, combatants would possess hand held walkie talkies, and cell phones. It was certainly interesting trying to simulate the delay and vagueness involved when one combatant group calls another one on a cell phone to report an enemy contact. "Hello?" "Stop shooting you idiot, they're in the RED building." "I thought you said the RIGHT building!" "No it's the RED one!" "Alright, we'll shoot at that one instead."
  22. You can find a lot of detailed information in the game manual, there are whole sections given to unit and weapon information. There is no pop up unit details screen in game however. I don't know why one would willingly seek out the cesspool, unless one has an affinity for bengay and mothballs. You can find the denizens here: There is still some action in there, when they remember to take their arthritis medications. Welcome back.
