    No worries, I was just interested in the book. Glantz is usually TOE/Grog heavy. His books are essentially a TIK video - all facts and zero emotion. Like to the point of boredom. But it does make the best possible resource for scenario design. This Christmas I've asked for more Glantz, and I'll check out Tissier too.
    I haven't but I will look into these. If I was able to get my hands on "The Technology of Tanks" and "The Military Balance", then I believe I should have luck with these titles as well. Thank you very much.

    Artkin, have you seen Bloody Streets by A. Stephan Hamilton - he has a very extensive OOB of both German and Soviet forces for the whole campaign. Also worth a look is Panzers in Berlin 1945 which features good info about all the panzer units - anything that featured a tank or assault gun and some.
    If you don't have access to either I can probably assist with some huhhum ropey screen shots of the parts that might interest you.
    Le Tissier is always a good read but doesn't tend to do the TOE appendix stuff you might be after. Couple of other much more detailed titles that would give you info on individual units are For Europe which is about the Charlemagne division, and Tragedy of the Faithful by Wilhelm Tieke which details the III Germanisches Panzer Korps.

    Yes and Cows, all adds to the mix...lol Remember a German Infantry Division had approx 4,800 horses, in fact the German Army was 80% horse drawn, even in 1945.

    @JM Stuff Thank you my friend! I have a few more maps to show off once I finish putting the final touches on them, I'm just super busy so I've been lagging on getting this all finished. I'm seriously still extremely grateful for you and @Lucky_Strikeyou guys are the real MVP's. Map making is easy (for me) because I do similar stuff for work all the time, but you guys designing the flavor objects I needed has been so helpful. I was demotivated because I was missing some essential pieces for my maps and this probably never would have gotten finished if it werent for you guys. Thank you again!

    I took some inspiration off your designs, for sure. I didn't give the interiors quite as much love as you did, though the hangar areas themselves are all hollowed and they are separated from the Antonov Company offices except a few doors that I placed in roughly the same places as they exist in real life. I've poured literally dozens of hours into just research for the airport map and actually have a pen-pal who lived about a mile from the airport in Hostomel and gave me some pointers. She has since relocated to Germany, but she was very helpful for parts of this.

    I had some small hope that the CMRT 2.12 "patch" would address the lack of DP LMG as a purchasable team for Soviet infantry and Guards infantry. The partisans have it but it was somehow lost along the way from CMRT to CMRT F&R. I heard through the grapevine that it was an accident at a high level. Nobody is perfect.
    The "Mother of all bottlenecks" (p.b.u.h.) now goes back to the jar (his day job) until he has 15 minutes of time to work on BFC stuff.
    Maybe BFC could take a page from the physical boardgame world and have a "pre-order" for a speculative game such as Combat Mission Early War. Before development even begins, they set a required minimum number of pledged investor-purchasers. Show that on BFC and see if the pledge/purchases roll in. Pay up now and get it for $50 or wait and later after it is developed it is like $100.

    Hey guys, I am putting the finishing touches on a campaign that focuses on the Russian VDV landings at Hostomel Airport on February 24th and 25th of this year, during the opening days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
    I could use some play testers to play through the missions and offer feedback to help me polish this up for release.

    The campaign features a 1:1 detailed scale map of the full airport and portions of the surrounding towns (Ozera, Blystyvytsia, Hostomel), a map of a town called Sosnivka that I thought would make a nice ambush location northwest of the airport, a map of the crossroads at Berestyanka, which you'll likely recognize from satellite imagery of the infamous 64km long Russian column from early in the war, and several custom flavor objects created for me by the incredible @Lucky_Strikeand @JM Stuff

    If you are interested in helping, please leave a comment below or DM me. Thanks in advance!

    Lucky_Strike reacted to Malaspina in Quick Campaign Generator for CMFB (Fully Randomized!)
    Hi fellow CMFB-ers,
    have you ever thought of making your own campaign but were intimidated by all the hard work that goes into it?
    I’ve been recently tinkering with the scenario editor to create a historical campaign in CMFI and, in my recurrent drunken stupors, I came up with an idea to quickly create fully randomized campaigns: The Quick Campaign Generator!
    The QCG creates a 10-battle campaign in just a few clicks (well, a few hundred…) putting you at the head of your core force, which you must lead throughout the campaign to achieve glory and win some medals, recording their progress in the meantime. It is in part reminiscent of Robo's quick campaign generator for CMx1 titles (as some of you may remember).
    Essentially, it is an Excel spreadsheet that lets you create a ‘bare-bones’ linear campaign comprising ten battles without having to do any historical research, map-making, briefings or artwork, i.e. the exact opposite of @Ithikial_AU’s excellent tutorial (https://community.battlefront.com/topic/137921-fire-and-rubble-preview-the-anatomy-of-what-goes-into-a-stock-campaign-release/) that I’ve used for my historical campaign.
    The purpose is to have fun with all the goodies (tanks and vehicles especially) that CMFB has to offer, without the headaches. Pure CM sex with no emotional involvement 😉.
    All the Scenario Editor choices, for example Weather, Ground Conditions, Experience, Headcount, choice of troops etc. are completely randomized to let you try out all possible combinations. Although, these battle are heavily biased in favor of armor, I must admit.
    When you open the spreadsheet, you will see:
    a tab called ‘Battle generator’, which provides random battle conditions,
    two tabs called ‘Human ATT’ and ‘Human DEF’, which generate a random force composition to be used in the various battles if you’re attacking or defending;
    the ‘Allied AAR or Axis AAR’ tabs, where you will be recording your progress during the campaign. Beware, your performance will be accurately monitored and judged 😉.
    Ignore the other tabs. They contain data used for the formulas. I’ve protected the sheets to avoid mistyping into a cell containing a formula.

    This was the situation for my Elite Panther platoon in a German Wehrmacht campaign called “Panthers on the Prowl” that I created using QCG:

    Notice the nice array of medals my core force troops earned! (Well, it was on Easy mode...)

    As you progress in your campaign, your results will be recorded and medals awarded. Statistics include tank kills, tank losses, infantry casualties, etc.

    Your overall performance will be duly monitored as shown here:

    I did pretty well, apparently.

    Basic knowledge of how the CM Scenario Editor works is of course recommended, but not a requirement. Full instructions are provided.
    Inside the package you will find:
    -          - three versions of the QCG spreadsheet (one for a US campaign, one for a German Wehrmacht campaign, and one for a Waffen SS campaign);
    -          - a pdf file containing Instructions (and a Quick Start Guide);
    -          - six campaign script files “(QCG) Campaign Script.txt” (easy, medium or hard for Allied and Axis forces);
    -          - five text files for the type of battle you will be fighting;
    I’ve also added a couple of campaigns that I have created using this system, with the related Excel files that only contain the AAR tabs.
    Enjoy! If you have any questions, just let me know.

    Konev Crosses the Teltow Canal April 24th 1945.
    On the morning of April 24th, fierce fighting was taking place at the Teltow Canal – between the troops of Ivan Konev’s 1st Ukrainian Front and the 20th Panzergrenadier Division. With the latter successfully eliminating a bridgehead that the Red Army had established earlier at Lankwitz.
    The previous evening nearly 3,000 guns and heavy mortars had been positioned to fire north across the canal – and into the city – bombarding the warehouses sheltering the Volkssturm detachments positioned alongside the 18th and 20th Panzergrenadier Division as waves of Soviet aviators joined in the pummelling of the defences.
    With the attack starting at 6am on April 24th, this would be an even greater concentration of fire than Konev had unleashed on the Neisse river crossing eight days earlier.
    From a rooftop observation post, Marshal Konev was able to look out across the city of Berlin and assess the scene:
    “From the roof of this building we had a fine view of Berlin, especially its southern and south-western districts. The left flank could be seen as far as Potsdam. Our field of vision extended to the right flank where, on the outskirts of Berlin, troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front and the 1st Belorussian Front were to link up.
    I remember how vast the city appeared to me. I noted the massive old buildings, in which the district that lay before me abounded, and the density of these buildings; I took note of everything that might complicate our task of capturing Berlin. I also noticed the canals, rivers, and streams that crossed Berlin in different directions and were plainly visible from above. Such a multiplicity of water obstacles promised additional difficulties.
    Before us lay a frontline city, besieged and prepared for defence. Had there been a reasonable government at the head of Germany, it would have been logical, under the circumstances, to expect from it an immediate surrender. Only surrender could have preserved what still remained of Berlin; it would also have saved the lives of many of its citizens. But it was apparently futile to expect a reasonable decision and we had to fight it out. As I gazed upon Berlin I reflected that its end would spell the end of the war and that the sooner we took the city the sooner the war would be over.”
    The ad hoc nature of the city’s defence and the desperate finality of the fight that would take place in Berlin meant that the Soviet ground forces were expecting to engage in brutal urban fighting that would mean blood shed for every metre advanced.
