  1. Bridge Too Far, yes, that really is a good movie. Made with respect for British, American AND German soldiers, as a good war movie should be.
  2. Yes, I agree, The Pacific is much better. Same style as Thin Red Line and quite impressive.
  3. The storming of Foy and how Winters shoots a surrendering German soldier and rounds up the entire German army after that, springs to mind. Also the battle at or after Carentan, especially the attack of the German Jagdpanther and StuG. At least Band of Brothers is honest about the killing of prisoners and the plundering.
  4. Ah, yes, the famous Battle of Britain. How the RAF saved the world by keeping the Luftwaffe at bay. Very entertaining, but I don't think the Germans ever hoped for more than force Churchill to the negotiation table. The importance of the BOB is somewhat overrated, I think. But I must admit I like the movie. Great atmosphere.
  5. Don't like any of them. Especially Stalingrad is horrible, with a Russian woman found in some depot, abused by Germans, fighting scenes are horrible too. Or that endscene of Die Untergang in which a woman (in a Heer uniform coat, if I recall correctly) walks between Russian soldiers unmolested...Fat chance in reality... Thin Red Line is pretty good though.
  6. I don't think they differed much from their army collegues. Some units were very good, some less so. You don't make a unit elite, just by putting a stamp with 'SS' on it. Having said that, they deserve respect, because they fought for their country and their family, just like any other soldier. They lost everything, so at least give them that. If Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan proved anything, it is that the habbit of shooting prisoners wasn't invented by the SS. I like to watch it, since there isn't anything better, but it is still full of glorified Hollywood rubbish.
  7. You know, Borg, that movie really made me feel nautious. Such rubbish.
  8. I think it is hilarious. All these overweighted old men. I still have to see the first war movie about WW2 that is worth watching.
  9. Amen to that. The winter of 1944/45 at the Eastern front will be the best module yet. I'm not at all looking forward to 1941 battles. For me the Eastern front is starting to get interesting from the summer of 1942 onwards, really heats up in the winter of 1942/43, cools off a bit during 1943 (Kursk is interesting, that's it) and get's interesting again in the winter of 1943/44 to explode in the summer of 1944 until the end of the war. I can't wait for the battles in Eastern Prussia, Western Poland, Hungary, Silesia and so on.
  10. I'm fine, George, thank you. Busy as all of us are, but still planning to release my own scenario, hopefully this summer. Coming weekend I will go for the next scenario. I understand it is a lot harder than the first one, so I'm looking forward to a lot of burning vehicles (hopefully not mine).
  11. I had a great time with the first mission yesterday, although I only scored a draw. I did reach all the targets, but lost two Pz IV's (one of them in the last bloody minute ). I can't say I made huge mistakes or risked too much, in fact I was quite pleased with myself, until I lost the second tank. But great atmosphere, I really enjoyed it. Well done, George, and thank you for making such superb scenarios and campaigns.
  12. Just downloaded and installed the patch without any problem. Thank you, BF.
  13. That reminds me of something I wanted to ask for a long time. Is it possible to upload this map, so it will be available to everyone?
  14. Do you know what little is left of the NATO tank force for example? I'm ashamed to say my own country practically sold all of it's tanks some time ago. There are plans to raise a dutch tank force again, but the damage is done. The situation isn't much better in Germany or other NATO countries. So the question 'how much larger' is more relevant than you seem to think. And what is the US military presence in Europe at the moment? A couple of Shermans at Bastogne and surroundings probably. Doomed as species...Bombastic nonsense.
  15. There's nothing unfortunate about that, let's pray it remains that way. But we have enough problems on our hands in Europe and even a winable war is the last thing we need. My point is that weakness always provokes aggresion. And at this moment the Russians are preparing for war. I'm sure their navy will also benefit greatly from that. And yes, I think their air force can stand up to what little is left of the NATO air power. Putin is far too clever to invade the Baltics just like that. He will use a whole arsenal of 'incidents' against the Russians there, black ops, propaganda and such to make it hard for NATO to intervene, until it is too late.
  16. Nobody is bashing Russia. I've met too many nice and decent Russians for that. And everybody seems determined to underestimate Russia and it's armed forces. NATO can fight a multi-front war and win? Dangerous nonsense. We are talking about a huge army, air force and navy, and a huge nuclear arsenal. The best thing we can hope for is rearmament and prevent a war. Another Cold War is just around the corner.
  17. Most of them in reaction to the endless Russian aggresssion and meddling in Eastern Europe. Please don't play the victim.
  18. Personally I think war with Russia is inevitable. Sooner or later Putin will feel strong enough to gamble and the West is weak and divided. Our politicians are weasels and most of them have more faith in the Army of Salvation and rather spend billions on refugees, then invest in strong and well trained armed forces. It will cost us dearly. Nothing has been learned from history. Of course Putin will not risk an all-out war (you never know with him though), but a lot of 'controlled' conflicts and black ops in Eastern Europe are inevitable. That's why I say: rearm like mad, before it is too late. For Europe nothing good ever came from Russia. They hate us and it is time we act accordingly. Sometimes I wish we also had a Putin to take care of OUR interests. Poor Europe....Let's hope there's some strength left in this old and exhausted continent. Btw, I've ordered the book by Sir Richard Shirreff. Let's hope it will be a bestseller in the West.
  19. Rearm like mad and don't trust upon the other side to behave reasonable.
  20. I've installed this mod today and taken a good look at it. Excellent work, but like I thought at first glance: too sharp and crispy for me. But very impressive job, Worghern. I'm sure it will be a huge succes. Vive le difference and nice to see another great mod artist is among us.
  21. Back from holiday and pleasantly surprised the engine is on full steam again. Great work and thank you.
  22. Too sharp and crispy for my taste, but lots of people will love this. Very impressive craftmanship.
