  1. I'm also curious to know if the generic 'Panther?'-type icon turned it's Turret or not. I remember mid-ID'd Britsh Tank Destroyers in BO showing the Gun pointing the wrong way, a clear sign they were Archers or somesuch. This does seem like a small Bug to me, but if the whole Tank is turning to aquire targets it's one with an 'insider' workaround. strt
  2. It occurs to me that the M3 wasn't a multi-turret Tank. Maybe they've found a way to have a Gun in the hull as mg's are now, not more than one Turret. That still sounds good for the Italian thingie, though. strt
  3. I can knock out some T-26 Mods quickly. Am I correct that the Nationalists are played by Axis (say, Finns) & the Republicans by Allies (Russians)? I have some examples of captured Nationalist T-26's to work from, but I don't know if there was anything to differentiate Republican vehicles from standard Soviet colors. Maybe you should bump up the old thread from May, it had some interesting info for folks that might not be familiar with the conflict. strt
  4. I agree that you're getting toward the 'from scratch' point, & if you do use a lot of Layers. As you get familiar with it you'll figure out which Layers you can merge together or toss out, & which ones you'll be glad later you saved. ATF, I'm still in Photoshop 5.5, & I've had an 'ain't broke don't fix it' attitude toward upgrading. I see you've moved to 7 & was wondering if you find it a lot better in any way. I don't do Pro Work in Photoshop, & I still run it under 9.2.2. Thanks strt
  5. This is an 'upgrade' of my previous Mod for the Romanian T-26S (m37). Includes options for Tools, Tactical Markings & Air Recognition Markings. There are several versions of 14221 .bmp, the Hull Top. There's Plain, just Air Rec, just Tools, or Both. I hope this isn't confusing. Regarding Tools & Equipment: It almost seems as though which & where Equipment would be mounted was up to whoever was holding the rivetgun at the time. I've incorperated Resources, Guesses & Artistic Liscense. Regarding Tac & Air Rec markings: They're Historically Accurrate according to good sources. I'm on a Mac so I can't do CMMOS ((sad face here)). Other T-26 varients, also Dirty & Winter to follow soon (for me). MODDERS: I think I'm onto a Base Color process that's pretty good. Feedback on this would be appreciated, particularly from Windows Users as to how it looks darker. It evens out the perceived Color, smoothes out the Shading, & breaks up the Banding effect, at least on my system. It's 5 layers that can be merged to 3, or even 2 in a pinch. If this interests anyone post here or e-mail mchlstrt@hotmail.com. The folder 'Rom T-26 viewing' contains a BB turn that will let you easily look at this vehicle. Put it in the 'Saved Games' folder on your HD & it will show up as '00 Rom T-26S 01'. Otherwise it can be deleted.
  6. I'm doing the Mods for these & I don't have any pictures to check them against. Any help would be appreciated. Post here or e-mail mchlstrt@hotmail.com. Thanks strt
  7. (Aha. I had to make the Picture on my Site link to itself, then take just the Picture's Address out of the Address for the Link. Got it?) This Mods the Soviet T-26 model 33, 35, 37, 39, T-26E, OT-130 & OT-133. They share enough .BMPs that it has to be one Mod. The m37 & OT-130 share textures, & the m39, OT-133 & T-26E share textures. Includes options for Tools, Tactical Markings & Air Recognition Markings. Also option for OT-130 & 133 FlameThrowers, which is basically cutting off the GunBarrel so it looks like a FlameThrower (artistically, of course). The m37 & m39 (OT-130 & 133) share the Gun Barrel .BMP, so it's both or neither. Regarding Tools & Equipment: It almost seems as though which & where Equipment would be mounted was up to whoever was holding the rivetgun at the time. I've incorperated Resources, Guesses & Artistic Liscense. Regarding Tac & Air Rec markings: They're all based on something, with various levels of applicability to Historical Accurracy & Theatre Appropriatness. Second sentence above also applies here. I'm on a Mac so I can't do CMMOS ((sad face here)). Other T-26 varients, also Dirty & Winter to follow soon (for me). It's at CM Mod Database. 8. The 'colors' in the foto are a function of relative light values on a grey scale, not saturaration or hue values. So my take is, tone down the Green, tone up the Red. From what I understand about b/w fotos vs. real life, it looks like the Green was painted on with a brush (sharp edges) & the Red was daubed on with a brush (sharp splatters or, er, daubs). Same 'strength', different 'edges'. Also from what I understand about b/w fotos vs. real life, the rear panel only looks washed out because it's more 'lit up'. Look at the front panel. It looks less 'lit up'. They should all be the same 'lit', unless you want to use make them look a little out of whack (hey, this is an interesting idea). Regarding the rest of the Tank, there doesn't seem to be Zimmerit, & I'd bet it's painted the same way, you just can't see it because of the b/w vs. real life stuff above. This is definately a 'field applied' Camo, & if you can capture that aspect (maybe streaky, uneven 'colors') it would be Historical & Very Interesting. That'smystoryandi'mstickntooit. strt
  9. For BO there are a few at COG's site, cog'ssitewhateverit'scalled tho' it's mostly BB Mods. This is a HUGE database so try the Search Function. I don't know if you can search for BO Mods only or not. I don't know where you came down regarding CMMOS so check if the Mod you're dl'ing is CMMOS-enabled or not. You CAN strip the suffixes (everything after '.BMP') off by hand & install them manually if you're not using CMMOS. Also, at CMHQ there's the CMMOS section, the Mad-Dog Mod Packs section, the 3rd Party Mods section, & the Combat Missions section. Make sure you looked through all of them. Also also, there were some good Mods that were on individual sites. You can go through the Links & you might find some that aren't anywhere else. Hope this is helpful. strt
  10. I'm on a Mac so I've never actually seen the @%#$ thing, but I always follow the threads. Good idea & good work. strt
  11. The T-26E shares the same textures as the m39 & the OT-133, unfortunately. Once I get through all the T-26 variations (there are a lot of them, in three different Armies) I might do a Mod of it so folks have the option. I'm adding a OT-130(m37) & OT-133(m39) option to this Mod, but that's just cutting off the Gun Barrel (artfully, of course) so it looks like a Flamethrower. strt
  12. That's an interesting idea. Don't know if it would be worth the Coding & the Fiddling In Game With or not. strt
  13. I'm about done with a group of Soviet T-26's (m33, m35, m37, & m39). They share just enough .BMPs to make them all one MOD. This booger is going to come in at around 6 or 7 megs (yes, compressed). I'm pretty sure it's way preferable to have one big File to avoid confusion, at this size anyway, but I know large Files give non-broadband folks trouble. Curious what people thought was the 'breaking(up) point' at this stage of world-wide Internet Technology (since we are a world-wide Community, & ain't that a cool thing). strt
  14. I'd say you're on to something with lowering the firing slit. IIRC the top .bmp is shared by the sides, otherwise you could do something with that. Maybe you could play with the virtual 'ground height' on the sides to make it seem more 'set in'. I'm not familiar with the way these textures map so I don't know. Sometimes these 3-D tricks one thinks of really work, & sometimes they really don't, as I'm sure you know. strt
  15. I was just over there looking around. Good deal. Was there a Modding Tips & Tricks-type Forum? A sticky 'FAQ' style thread would be handy if someone was up for tending it. I've picked up many bits & pieces of info over time, & it would be good to have a place to put them & find others. strt
  16. Wasn't there an issue with one of the Mac patches showing the wrong version number? If so, this could cause some confusion. strt
  17. So this was yet another variation on the Vickers, like the T-26? How did the Vickers become so widespread & influential? Was it a real step forward design-wise, or was it just successful marketing? strt
  18. My sense at this point is that all Macs downsample, but it doesn't look too bad so most people aren't aware of it. Hope I'm wrong but no one who's said 'mine doesn't' has ever posted a screenie or even system specs. I get a look at my Mods in standard-res by installing a lo-res Grass & making a Scenario with no Terrain Features & only one or two different units in it. You have to quit CM to 'purge' the Graphics loading list or whatever it is. If someone gets this res with a lot more Units than this, please give us your specs. strt
  19. I would like to see vehicles that share the same .BMPs have at least one unique one like turret side or top so they can be 'marked' differently. Also a seperate Gun Barrel .BMP for some Flamethrower models would allow 'cutting it off' so they look like what they are. strt
  20. I'd like to know too & I haven't done any tests either. strt
  21. I guess we're trying to figure out how sophisticated it is. It would be helpful to post which patch people are playing with, if they know. BFC did something in this area for 1.0.3, I believe, so without the patch #s in their posts people could be talking apples & oranges. Hope so. strt
  22. JasonC, glad to hear you're checking out 1.0.3. If you get any sense of where these behaviors are at in this build please post it. I generally find your thoughts on these sorts of things pretty enlightening, with the added advantage that you actually come up with some 'what would be rights' & not just a big pile of 'what is wrongs'. As to what's possible, or even practical, yeah that's ultimately Charle's call, for all the right reasons. These discussions are useful for trying to sort out what it might be worth BFC's time to consider , & making people like me feel a little less tactically incompetent. strt
  23. I'm a mediocre player at best, but this is the one problem I noticed by myself before I read about it. The experiences I had with it put it on the level of the 'unhittable gun' bug (which I've since had completely stop my attack. I'm NOT in 1.0.3). I absolutely believe it is a very undesirable situation. There was language in the 1.0.3 fix list that indicated BFC may have done something about this, but it's not clear, & I've never seen this issue addressed directly by any of the B-boys. If they're aware of the issue, have given it a look & taken their best shot at it then I'm more than happy. If they were not even aware that anybody thought this might be broke that would concern me a bunch. Maybe someone with a good understanding of this issue could test it under 1.0.3. I encourage JasonC, if he's got the right version. I'll dl it & see if I can tell much, but there are a lot more qualified people than me around here for this. strt
