System freezes when I try to start the game
Hubert Cater replied to indiumas's topic in Strategic Command Tech Support Forum
Try setting the line 'sound interrupt = 0' to 'sound interrupt = 1' in your 'SC.ini' file. This file can be found in your installation folder. Hubert -
Thanks Erik! Hubert

OK for the error that occured during your move, send me the 'autosave.sav' file for the last known good turn and give me a full description on how to reproduce the error, well as close as possible. For the second error, the save game file error, looks like there is a problem with the contents of your save folder, please try deleting all files in the folder SAVE and PBEM and then try it again and let me know if you still have the same problem. The reason for this is that the previous save game files 'pre-patch' are not compatible with v1.02. Hubert -

I recieved another report on this problem as well. Can you browse to the installation folder and list out the most recent contents of the file 'exception_trace.log' Thanks, Hubert -
It wasn't a differentiation in terms of what may be better or not, rather a description of what kinds of attack are possible and how to do them. Hubert

It will be along shortly Hubert

In terms of combat formulas there is no difference taken between a blitz or normal attack. Hubert

Funnily enough the original design decision was to either go with monthly turns with variable impulses or with the current setup. I guess I can see how the current setup seems to make the economics a bit strange (and how that would be logically better with variable turn impulses), but I kind of always looked at it as just your income for each turn and not specifically normalized out against the length of the turn, which I think I can get away with for the type of game it is. All around though, great ideas guys and something to think about for the future for sure! Hubert

For a designer note here, the idea with the partisans was to create the need to spend and tie up some of your forces in rear guard action. Leaving these areas all empty can cause some headaches as I've seen posted in this thread, but a quick hint... think about where most of the partisan activity took place and keep an eye as to where they are formed. Rear guard these specific areas and you may see all your partisan problems go away! Hubert

OK I'll take a look at it. In the meantime, the only way you can do it now is to create the campaign by following the events that got it there. So set the countries that surrendered to surrendered and then move in the liberating troops and recolor the territory. This will work in the case of France, but right now you will not be able to include the French units and you will probably get a message saying that France has been liberated on the first turn. OK please send me the saved game with the short description on how to reproduce it to support@furysoftware.com. Also please mention with which version you are encountering the problem. Hubert

I would suggest contacting sales@battlefront.com if you have any questions concerning your order. Hubert

Hi Dave, The manual is copyrighted material and considered part of the purchased package so I would advise against anyone posting it somewhere. There are many reasons for this that I won't get into here, but I do understand your desire to see it and I can only hope you can wait a bit longer, which from the sounds of it, it shouldn't be long at all. Hubert

Sounds like you are the unofficial winner in the SC shipping race! Thanks for ordering and I am really honoured you are enjoying it Hubert

Thanks for ordering the game, all pre-orders have either been shipped yesterday or is shipping today, so I suspect you will be recieving the game soon. If you have any more specific questions on your order I would suggest contacting sales@battlefront.com. Note: There is a standard turnaround time of about 1-2 days before they can respond. Hubert

Demo Update - DirectX Detection Fix
Hubert Cater replied to Hubert Cater's topic in Strategic Command 1
These patches are only for the demo, there will be a 'release patch' for the full version available shortly now that the game has started shipping. Hubert -
A 'release patch' will be available shortly now that the game is shipping. Hubert
-
The beta demo can be uninstalled by deleting the SC folder, while the latest demo (including Gold) can be uninstalled by using your Control Panel as Bill has suggested. Hubert

For anyone who was having problems with DirectX detection even though they had DirectX 7.0 installed there is a new patch and updated Demo that resolves this issue. The full demo package can be downloaded here: ftp://ftp.battlefront.com/pub/demos/stratcom/SC_Demo_Setup.exe or if you would like to just apply a patch to your current version, please download the following zip file and extract to your current demo folder. ftp://ftp.battlefront.com/pub/demos/stratcom/SC.zip Hubert

Yes, just got the official word myself, the game is shipping a bit earlier than expected from both the US and Irish warehouses. All preorders should be out the door by tomorrow at the latest. Happy gaming! Hubert
