  1. These problems have been resolved please try the fixed v1.03 at the following download page http://www.battlefront.com/products/stratcom/download.html Hubert
  2. Good point, but truth be told this one was tested and turned out to be a very strange problem and entirely unexpected. Seems to work perfectly fine on some systems and causes problems on others and looks like the variance is between win9x/ME vs. 2000/XP. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience but this was a learning experience for me and not one I am too eager to repeat. Hubert
  3. I understand the frustration and I do apologize for the sudden change, but please believe me it is in no way meant to punish those of you who have already purchased the game. As most of you already know I am still very new to this business, and if it were up to me and I could just concentrate on game development and not worry about hackers and piracy I would be more than happy... no actually make that ecstatic!!! But the sad reality is that this is the world that exists and right now I've entered into this world with game development. Long story short, the CD check was always supposed to be a part of the release, and to err is human, and it seems like I have been doing a lot of that lately. Blame that on lack of sleep, pure devotion to this product, whatever you want to call it, but it was something that was always meant to be there for better or for seemingly worse. For a little more information as to the why... yes everybody seems to have CD burners these days, yet casual piracy accounts for about 90% of the problem, and well for the other 10% there is actually a very good reason why the CD check is included, problem is if I say it explicitly it let's the cat out of the bag and defeats the whole purpose. Yes it's a small headache, but unfortunatly necessary and all a part of the big picture for me to continue to bring good wargaming products to the market. Hubert
  4. I've just updated and re-released the v1.03 patch. It includes everything from v1.02 and a few new changes, bug fixes and AI tweaks. The v1.03 patch can be downloaded from here: http://www.battlefront.com/products/stratcom/download.html If applying this patch on top of v1.02 there will be no need to delete the SAVE and PBEM folders as it is fully backwards compatible, however if applying it to v1.0 then you will have to delete those folders prior to patch application. The SC version can be determined by the number that appears on the lower right hand corner of the main menu screen. Be sure to check the 'README.txt' and 'SC Version Changes.txt' for more specific instructions and information, these are installed in your SC installation folder once the patch is applied. Note: With this patch you will need your Strategic Command CD in your default CDROM drive. **Changes Made For v1.03 (August 17, 2002)** - added CD contents check - improved AI usage of air units, slightly more coordinated and aggressive - improved amphibious assaults wrt naval cover, air cover and HQ usage - friendly aircraft now provide air cover for each others units etc., this was actually part of the original design and always considered a bug on my part - adjusted the scorecard to take into account difficulty and computer experience bonus settings - fixed sub spotting bug wrt transports - adjusted reorganization planning for improved proactive defence, esp. Russia - fixed non-attacking axis AI bug when non-random game options were chosen for Russia, Minors etc Enjoy! Hubert RE-RELEASE NOTE: This is basically the same as the last v1.03, just removed the code that was giving me problems with memory leaks. Even if you had downloaded the previous v1.03 and did not encounter any issues, it is still strongly recommended that you re-download and re-apply this updated one. Thanks everyone for your patience.
  5. Hi Everyone, Patch v1.03 is temporarily offline until I resolve the memory leak. Sorry for the inconvenience but it should be up and running again very soon. Hubert
  6. OK send me the last known good turn, usually the 'autosave.sav' along with your system specs, and game version and I'll take a look. Send to support@furysoftware.com Hubert
  7. I know that there are no excuses for this, but I have to apologize, apparently there is a memory leak with the latest patch. I'll have Matt repost patch v1.02 tommorrow ASAP while I sort this out. Hubert

  9. I know that there are no excuses for this, but I have to apologize as this is true, apparently there is a memory leak with the latest patch. I'll have Matt repost patch v1.02 tommorrow ASAP while I sort this out. Hubert
  10. Not sure, if you helps contact me via email and I can send you a zip of the patch to see if that will work better for you. Hubert
  11. Not sure, maybe it's been corrupted, perhaps a redownload will do the trick Hubert
  12. Sincerest apologies for this change guys, but circumstances have warranted it necessary unfortunatly. Hubert
  13. That's strange, can you send me a saved game where you know this will happen? Send to support@furysoftware.com Thanks, Hubert
  14. You can actually both play with the different versions but there will arise a difference in consistency. If for example you are playing with patch v1.03 then your turns may play out slightly differently wrt the recent changes to the executable, i.e. the sub spotting fix, common air support between friendly air units etc. This is why it is suggested that you either both upgrade to the latest patch or finish off the game with v1.02 before upgrading. Hope that helps, Hubert
  15. Yup sorry about that, just added a note to check your README txt file that is included with the patch, it references this issue in there. Hubert [ August 16, 2002, 03:01 PM: Message edited by: Hubert Cater ]

  17. I'll have to double check, but I believe the game does do this as specified, or at least something close to that. Hubert
  18. OK fair enough, let me think about it... Hubert
  19. If you are playing with FoW, your enemy research info is unavailable. Same goes if you check the research table. Hubert
  20. To be honest I am not sure about the Norway, Sweden, Finland supply situation that has been described here, what I mean by that is that there is no special coding to create a unique supply setup through these countries, could just be a part of my current supply algorithm with some hexes close enough that it creates a constant supply line. As for the ports being used for supplying land units, this does not happen in the game. Basically supply is calculated by drawing a straight line of land hexes back to your capital, with various values for direct connection, direct connection but occupied, cutoff, cutoff and occupied etc. HQ's also give supply and their supply giving value depends on their current supply level etc. There's more gory details in the manual for further references. Hubert
  21. Most likely not for this game as it would require a bit of retooling for the game engine. Hubert
  22. It's just part of an internal list that shows up but you can't do anything with it as I've disabled options on it. Not any time soon actually. Not right now. Come to think of it, I am not so sure why I added the option for adding Neutral tiles, offhand I don't think it does anything useful in the editor. Yeah you'll just have to re-edit it. No this has been fixed on my end Maybe Hope that helps! Hubert
  23. Sorry guys, but this won't be happening any time soon, still a lot to get done, and no easy way to implement this right now with my current design and maintain game security between TCP/IP and PBEM opponents. Maybe some time in the future but most likely not for this game. Hubert
