  1. If you can send me a detailed bug report on your system and game settings, where and what your forces were doing at the time of the freeze that will help me track down the problem. Tthe demo is intended to be a litmus test of sorts for your tastes, i.e. to determine if it is your cup of tea or not without giving the whole game away Unfortunatly due to the previous events it was necessary to strip down the Demo version so that it could not be played as a full version (even if tampered with). To be honest, I wish it were not necessary sometimes these things are a matter of circumstance. This is actually not entirely accurate, only air units had their offensive power reduced by 1 point, and other adjustments were only made to naval units. Perhaps your difficulties lie with the adjustments I made to how the AI plays in general and most of these adustments have to deal with the AI making better use of natural defences and making more intellegent decisions on when to remain in ciites and entrench itself. The core rules are the same, it's just a matter of the AI making better use of them, and if this is giving you a bit more trouble then I have achieved exactly what I was shooting for Thanks!   3. Both demo's are completely system friendly, i.e. no registry or dll changes/additions made, so my guess is that some players may have installed the Gold version into the original Beta directory. If this is the case there will be problems, BUT however if you install in a separate directory (as you've correctly guessed) there should be no problems at all, so long as you do not mix and match files between versions. I guess the trick here is that if you are not sure, best to remove the original Beta as suggested. Hubert
  4. The Gold Demo is not compatible with the previous Beta Demo and could cause some problems if mixed and matched with the current version. The best solution to avoid this would be to uninstall/delete the Beta first before installing the Gold version. Hope this helps, Hubert

  8. Hi Delta, Believe me I can understand your frustration but I'll just ask you to please refrain from using profanity if possible. Not sure exactly what the problem could be off-hand, could be related to the new security patchwork for the demo, i.e. one of the reasons you can no longer save your game files, but since you report that the game freezes in May (1941?) you are actually not missing much since the demo is set to end at exactly this time anyways. Please send me bug report to support@furysoftware.com with a list of your game settings, i.e. FoW turned on etc., and I'll help you track down the problem. Hubert
  9. Unfortunatly this will still happen on some systems where Windows does not properly save desktop settings during switches. There is utility available that automatically restores your desktop settings with a single click: Save Layout It can be used to save your current setup and then restore once you exit any application that causes your desktop settings to change.   10. Actually many of these points have been addressed and updated for the Gold Demo as the original was a Beta. The full list of changes will be included in the Gold Demo as a 'readme file' and include the following major updates: Changes for Gold Demo *PBEM Additions* - added play-by-email replay - added a 'Disable Undo' option (this can be toggled at any time, but is locked in for Hotseat/PBEM) *Sound Fix* - added an 'SC.ini' file in the 'Strategic Command Demo' folder. This will allow gamers that were experienceing sound problems to adjust for sound interruption, should eliminate long waits during button clicks etc. *High Refresh Rate Option* - also in the 'SC.ini' file you will be able to set a high refresh rate if you know your system can support it *Empty Text Box Fix* - pop up text boxes that were showing blanks on some systems should now show their information *Gamey Strategy Tweaks* - abandoning allied positions in the Med may peak Italian interest into joining the war if they have not already done so - early Axis invasion of Baltic States prior to Soviet annexation will be much riskier in terms of political fallout with Moscow. Initial political shock will be the same, but now there will be a continued increase in Soviet war readiness - USA and Italy will start with their full income if sneak attacked and units in the capital will have an entrenchment value = 3. This does not make this strategy impossible but simply much riskier - air attacks against rocket and naval units as well as against fortified units (i.e. Maginot) have been intellegently adjusted to limit AI baiting - added SU unit to Riga for the start of Barbarossa - added a few units to the 1940 SU setup - adjusted the SU transfer of Siberian Troops to an open period instead of only when SU existence is threatened during the winter months. (This one I really thought about, but I think it would be reasonable since I don't think the original transfer was made due to weather but rather because of the demands of the military situation at the time) *General Fixes/Tweaks* - extended save game file names to 38 characters from 20 - fixed 'next unit' bug when France was targeting units on the Maginot - fixed dissapearing Allied units in Vichy when France surrenders, basically a message pops up and says they surrender - Axis units do now finally and properly move to nearest adjacent city when France surrenders, so if Italian unit was in Africa moving towards Algiers they will move back to Tripolitania if that city is still friendly etc. - renamed 'Strausbourg' to Strasbourg - renamed 'Massachusettes' to 'Massachusettes' - decreased damages during naval Surprised movements in FoW - decreased damages slightly for naval combat (a decrease by 1 point for all attack and defence table values) - added info for saved AI games, basically so you can tell what difficulty and computer bonuses these games were set at - increased max surface raiding in the Atlantic to 40 MPP to include the value of Liverpool - increased individual sub raiding amount slightly in North Atlantic - adjusted reduced spotting to now properly include Air Fleets, Bombers and Rocket Attachments when spotting subs, basically spotting value - 1 - reduced disbanding value to about 50% less - added an updated 'resource_strength_sprite' with an indicator for when strengths are < 5, this will help to realize that some actions may be limited wrt these resources, i.e. no transporting or operations etc. - added a 'ScoreCard' for when you either defeat or have been defeated, keeps track of total resources plunders, units destroyed as well as an early victory bonus or late victory penalty - jet sounds now kick in at level 4 or higher - added units to Turkey and Sweden and increased entrenchment for Swiss units - fixed disappearing ships when you declare war on a country and have blocked their typical start locations Hope this helps, Hubert

  14. When the Gold Demo is available for download I'll make a post detailing what to expect with the latest version. Most changes have to do with updating the security of the demo as expected There have been many changes to the core files as well as the executable so there will only be a full download for now, although the full download includes a nice installation package instead of the older self-extracting EXE.   21. Sorry not at the moment unfortunatly Yup, as far as I know, the game will be shipped to all european countries, asia, australia and beyond Hvala! Although to be honest I had a little help with the previous post, I never actually learned to properly read or write, but I can get by pretty well in conversations. Surprisingly though (for me) I have understood everything written here so far And before everyone thinks there is some Slovenian conspiracy at work here, we are all just familiarizing ourselves with our roots and hometowns, so not to worry SuperTed Hubert
  22. One of the adjustments made for the final version was for when Allied units are taken off of key positions in the Medeterranean. What will happen is that if Allied units are removed from their current garrison assignments then Italian interest will be peaked for entry into the war. This will add a risk to the gamey tactic of using/disbanding med units for alterior purposes since Italy may enter the war earlier than expected. This can affect sneak attack plans on Italy or even the idea of using French med units as potential Free French Units etc. In general, what I am trying to do with all gamey tactics is to make them less attractive but not completely eliminate them since as stated here they are a part of the "what if" of the game. Consider this one for you Straha since it makes things a little tougher for the Allies! Hubert
