How many days until CM:BB?
Thin Red Line replied to CaSCa's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Jesus Christ was born no later than 4 B.C. since B.C. means 'before Christ.' But our modern calendar which splits time between B.C. and A.D. was not invented until A.D. 525. At that time, Pope John the First asked a monk named Dionysius to prepare a standardized calendar for the western Church. Unfortunately, poor Dionysius missed the real B.C./A.D. division by at least four years! If it weren't for him, we'd have been playing the game 4 years ago! -

One of the thing i enjoy the most with CM is that it's stays very far from the video technology race and yet looks awesome, runs without a flaw, to the detriment only of 3D cards marketers wallet. -
Can be a sniper as well.

French 1st "Division Blindee", raised in May 1943, based on Colonel Vigier's "Brigade Legere Mecanique" which had served in the Vichy French garrison of North Africa and fought against the Axis in the Tunisian campaign. As part of French Army "B" (later redesignated French 1st Army), the 1st Armored Division sailed to southern France and landed in the follow-up of Operation Anvil-Dragoon. It then took part in the campaigns in France and Germany with French 1st Army, often dispersed and supporting French infantry divisions. Allied tank accuracy stinks plus more :)
Thin Red Line replied to Janster's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
In Cintheaux-Totalize scenario (which i encourage you to play if you don't want to care about units cost), i have regular Fireflies scoring kills on Tigers at 1500m +. Just my 2cts. -
Use of mortars at night [and TRPs]
Thin Red Line replied to Thin Red Line's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Good idea but maybe difficult to implement i don't really have a stabilized front line, i've to use the ambush tactics because the germs have plenty of armor...They are more or less surroundering me now. Also i'm not sure all my commanders have that radius bonus. -
The Ardennes. It's snowing and the night has fallen. My US glider infantry has a bunch of 60 mm mortars but the distance they can see (40m?)is below their range. Do you have any idea if the mortar teams can be of any use in such conditions ? Or should they remain hidden until the daylight comes ? [ August 12, 2002, 08:57 AM: Message edited by: Thin Red Line ]

Three King Tigers in winter (mod preview) UPDATED
Thin Red Line replied to Gordon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Gordon, I'm also very conviced by you weathering, believe me, it looks perfectly realistic ! Awesome mod BTW, as always ! -
Yes , thanks, now i understand better why my opponent lost 12 tanks in 1 turn just after i've unhidden 3 elite 88s and 1 elite Pak 40
-
I recently played a scenario as Germans and i was amazed by the rate of fire of the 88mm Flak guns : less than 10 seconds beetween two scoring hits (armored targets at 900m closed to each other). The experience of the crew was elite but i still wonder if such a performance was possible during actual battles.
