Short Summary of problems with the Beta Demo
Thin Red Line replied to M. Bates's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I totally agree with you MikeyD but i'm afraid it is unevitable, when things move ahead it always implies some nostalgy... -
From the 'New features section' : MISCELANEOUS COOL STUFF New Camera Shake option (SHIFT-K) that adds "bounce" when you’re camera-locked to a moving unit. Added for realism i think. Optional.

multiple waypoints for group movement
Thin Red Line replied to Hafer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Many changes in CMBB but not for that. What i usually do is i use the group movement, plot the main move, then adjust and add other moves individually. -
Short Summary of problems with the Beta Demo
Thin Red Line replied to M. Bates's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Well, I like this new feature. In CMBO i'm always hitting the info key to know what weapon is left in the squad, i find it just fine to see it at a glance. -
Please bring back the shockwaves......!

I always thought that dust was the thing really missing in CM explosions. Huge plumes of dust... -

multiple waypoints for group movement
Thin Red Line replied to Hafer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
First to say the right place to ask this kind of question is the Tips and Tricks forum, and then that for groups it's normal you can only plot ONE waypoint. Regards -
Please bring back the shockwaves......!

The nuclear-like shockwaves of CMBO looked somewhat strange. It's better without it IMHO. -

Anti-aliasing strange consequences
Thin Red Line replied to Thin Red Line's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Thanks all. I confirm that the latest drivers solved the problem , but also that unfortunately i don't have enough ressource to run CMBO with the anti-aliasing on . I'll have to upgrade my computer for CMBB... [sigh] [ September 02, 2002, 02:44 AM: Message edited by: Thin Red Line ] -

I use a GeForce 32mb DDR (Elza Erazor) video card and CMBO runs fine on my PIII 700 Ghz 312mb (W98). The only limit is the somehow sparkling graphics. If I force my card to use anti-aliasing (4 or 8X), the effect is ok on the graphics themseves but strangely the texts of the interface and info screens during the game(the white letters on black backgroud) are completly messed. I wonder why and if there is a solution or advice for that. Thanks in advance

Thin Red Line replied to Prinz Eugen's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Stricly we could think that they use ' debarquement ' in the meaning of ' dismissal '. The '1945 dismissal' (of A. Hitler) ...? Rather specious i guess -

This is a translation of the Amazon.fr (the french site of Amazon) description (Sorry it's done with a online translator so it might sound weird.) The history in the turn by turn : find the sequel of the cult wargame of Battlefront.com, including new units, new missions and the beautiful graphics. The specialists of the second world war and the military strategies assert it: Combat Mission is the most accomplished title in its genre. The team of development realized a work of Titans to plunge the players in the heart of the historic battles of the second world war: exhaustiveness of vehicles and units, modelling of the relief and environments, optimization of the speed of movement of the troops, up to the reach of the shots and the consequences of the air raids! Nothing is left at random! Key points: Wargame in turn by turn in full 3D. At the end of every turn, the orders comply in the form of kinematics. Relive the big fight of the 2nd world war: from the operation Barbarossa ( Eastern Europe) until the landing of 1945, from the Black Sea to the Arctic Circle. A consequent life expectancy. The solo mode proposes not less than 50 scénarii and different operations. A research of realism close to the perfection: units, reliefs of battlefields and missions are exactly modelled and detailed. Combat Mission 2 offers graphics high resolution 3D and sound effects stéreo. Mode of game in turn by turn allowing to establish precise and realistic strategic action plans. Command 6 main nations: France, Germany, the USA, England, Canada and Poland . A complete arsenal: more than 300 different vehicles and more than 600 available units. Combat Mission 2 takes into account the climatic conditions and the schedules of day. Some part of the description (i put them in bold)are confusing, to say the least.
