  1. It's great and well deserved news for CMBB and Battlefront. Let's not forget our friends at Panther Games for their excellent Airborne Assault (1?)! Maybe the news is not so good for the Wargamer, which was just bought out. There are many things I like about the Military Gamer (the new owner), but their long time AWOL scenario download section is not one of them. Time will tell.
  2. In a game I played against the computer I played about a year ago (with ver 1.12), I took out at Jagdtiger with zook. It was a side shot at fairly close range. Did this sort of thing happened on the battlefield? Don't know--we need the input of some WW II vets or their writings for that answer. 3. Becket you are correct, but in large part that is due to the poor quality and PDFing of manuals in the last few years. Let's call it grading on the sliding curve or grade inflation. The CMBB manaual is quite good. Certainly it is much better than edition #1 of the strategy guide. However, Ichadwick's critisms are valid. It could have been better with few, mostly structural, changes.
  4. Alright guys, if you're not yet ready to tell us when it's coming out, at least answer one question. Will we be able to continue with our PBEM games under version 1.02, if we started them in version 1.01, but both players update to version 1.02? Thanks!
  5. Juju's small arms pack enables you to mod both CMBO and CMBB. Be sure to read and follow the instructions. The original CMBO graphics were all low res. Replacing them with hi res graphics makes a world of difference in the CMBO's visual experience. So low res mods are quite good, but in general are inferior to those done in hi res. Most CMBO vehicles have been done in hi res by at least one modder. There are a few exceptions. I believe that the Nashhorn and Hummel have only been modded once and it was in low res. If there is no statement saying whether a mod is hi or low res, check the size of the BMPs with the originals. If they are significantly bigger, you probably have a hi res mod. No winter mods are included on the CMBO and CMBB CDs. Most vehicles are available in winter mods. However, I have found that most exceptions--where no such winter mods are availabe (in either hi or low res)--are CMBO Commonwealth vehicles. Winter mods would be first on my list to add to either game. CMBB is all hi res. So, most mod replacements will be by individual taste. Finally, check out the CMMOS system that allows you to select, change and return to the items you prefer in both CMBO and CMBB. The place to started with CMMOS is the Combat Mission HQ web site.
  6. Thanks for the information. I was wondering why it wouldn't take. We'll look forward to downloading the corrected version.
  7. Hey Saturnin, love your mods. As usual they are all both unique and things of beauty. One request though, if you can--please ad an English or at least German read me/discription to your files. If you don't, I swear that I will attempt to speak French when I visit your country for the first time this spring. Belieive me--you don't want that to happen! 8. Gordon, thanks for many hours of effort and an excellent system. You and your fellow CMMOS and "regular" modders have made our two favorite games even better. Among other great things, you have made CMBO look so good, that it I have to do a double take, when I fire up the unmodded version on my old laptop. Of course it's still great fun to play, but it looks so....plain.
  9. The mods look great and are just in time for the new (and last?) version of CMMOS. Thanks for your time and contributions
  10. Thanks Sesam, but I haven't seen them yet. It could be that my wife accidentally deleted it when she checked our e-mail this morning. Would you mind resending them? Thanks--I enjoy your work!
  11. When last I checked, you could not yet download them (and other late posts). [ December 31, 2002, 01:15 AM: Message edited by: jagcommander ]
  12. In the deep, dark early days of CMBO, I had trouble saving games. It turned out that my trouble was caused because I started the game from an on the desktop shortcut, instead of using the executable in the CMBO file. At the time, I was using ver. 1.02 or 1.03 (the newest--then). I don't know whether or not that is an issue that was fixed in the latest patches to CMBO, as I never did it again. 13. It's not there (at least as of yesterday). I've been looking for the same thing, along with Peterson's and Mr. Clark's CMMOS Kubelwagons.
  14. Gordon, the link to the new CMBO rule set (v1.03) for "Miscellaneous" seems to be broken. Is is just a bad link or is the new rule set still in the works? Thnaks for you many efforts!
  15. Master--see link on post immediatley above yours. Last night I was able to download the 4+ MB uniform file for the first time on my dial-up connection. Thanks for the fix. However, the site appears to be down this morning. Hope it's not a major problem.
  16. Looks great; and with the fixes to the Mod Data Base, those of us with only dial-up connections will hopefully be able to download all your large uniform files.
  17. I've tried to download this mod many times on my dial up, but I never get past 80+% and a corrupt download. Is it available from any other source? Thanks....
  18. Operations offer a depth of gameplay, possible changes in advantage and game conditions that is unique. When done well, they are great. Thanks to all who have taken the time to design them, especially those that play well against the AI.
  19. Thought you might want to know that both the 9/02 and 10/02 links on the site bring up the 9/02 issue of Boots & Tracks Times.
  20. Great to see that it has been posted, and now downloaded. Can't wait for the winter King Tiger and the rest!
  21. The link to the Hummel and Nashorn mods are what I am running, but they are low-res. I am not aware of any hi-res CMBO mods for the Hummel or the Nashorn.
  22. Ditto--the link doesn't connect to anything.
  23. Another outstanding edition in the Noobie mod Blitzkrieg!
  24. Are you in the right place? It appears that you are talking about CMBB.
