I'm all nostalgic now for 2011 and the posters who predicted BFC was about to go belly up if they didn't follow their weirdly specific advice on how to run a computer game company. Good times, good times.

Apologies for the error and confusion created by the reference to a "First Blitzkrieg". The mistake has been corrected and the responsible parties have been sacked.

Well cat's out of the bag now...so we are officially doing a CMCW module.  I will let you guys speculate on scope and scale and we are still working the features list right now.  I would expect an official announcement in due course.

That's exactly why I want to try 79.  I really want to see how the older equipment matches up.
I just loaded up the citadel and I MUST play it.  It's looks dauntingly huge but I think I can manage, I just really need to divide up my three companies in my head and play them individually.  The map is incredible.  I am surprised that some of the tanks get lines of sight out of the woods from where they are placed.  Sometimes I am hesitant to put tanks in the woods, for one the mobility problems and two, I am always thinking they won't have lines of sight to anything.  I think I underestimate what they actually can see.
Anyway, I think I'll play it standalone and use the full BN!

Haha!!  New desktop has arrived and oh it runs everything at very high spec!  On to the third battle now!
Man, the new computer is so smooth I have to go dive back into everything again.  The detail now is ridiculous!  I have no lag for anything!

I finished the US campaign with a Minor Victory!  I'm pretty happy with it and felt overall I did really well!

US Tactical Victory at Neuhof.  That battle was insane and just too much fun to see the whole incoming MRB. It was intense, and intimidating.  I can't believe I pulled a tactical victory.  It was costly though, I lost 7 tanks and quite a few TIFVs.  By waiting and letting the Soviets get in close it definitely allowed me to attrit them more than trying to stand toe to toe at range.  And even so I still lost a few of my precious M60s.
I knocked the crap out of them though.
CMCW at this point is by far my favorite CM.  This campaign is just amazing and I am having so much fun with it. I mean, it's WWIII.  I am REALLY looking forward to trying the Soviet Campaign now.  Man, do I have new found respect for the beast that those T-64s are.

    I just had to share...
I have one split AT team posted in one of the buildings out in the front of the US setup zone.  Those two men in the last turn went from "cowering" from artillery, to then quickly and calmly taking out a T-72 at about 350m with a Dragon on the far right that had sprinted across the open ground and was approaching one of my infantry squads posted in the woods over there, direct hit on the flank of the Soviet tank instantly killed it.  They immediately went to pinned and shaken after this kill because of the artillery still landing around the buildings, the AT gunner calmly reloads the Dragon, turns to the front, sees another T-72 coming around those buildings in front about 500m away, aims and makes a one shot kill of that tank!  All in one minute!
They are definitely getting medals in my book, if they survive....

Seems like everyone has to play CMBS before playing CMCW  Specifically RUS vs US or at least UKR vs RUS.

    SPOILERS!!!
PS CMCW is pure gold! Kudos to the team - arguably the best release ever!

Please do make scenarios for all of the battles!  This one was fun, though a slaughter.  The book was great and it would be awesome if someone did a campaign of all of Team Yankee's battles.
    Thanks for this one!

I will not try to drop any spoilers!  I just finished the first mission with a major US victory and I still can't believe it was a major victory.  That battle was, how shall we say...harrowing?  I lost more than I wanted to so we will see how that plays out.
I just started up the second mission.  As the first battle was just so much fun in feeling out where the Soviets were and how to get my troops back safe, this second one is entirely a whole different world.  Literally.  We'll see how this goes.  No plan survives first contact and this one has me completely nervous...
I haven't had so much fun playing any CM title since I don't know when.  I'm completely pulled back into Black Sea now too and, of course, I had to also get the Fire and Rubble pack.  Mwuhahaha!
Now, if you can please, let's all cross our fingers and pray to the gods of war that brave lonely 2nd Platoon can pull this little gambit off.

I am actually finding the medium sized scenarios to be quite manageable on this one and I don't really know why compared to the other titles.  I don't usually do large as it starts to get to be too much micromanaging for me too and I get lazy and start to make mistakes.  But on CMCW all the medium battles I've played so far play better than even the small ones.  I really love the balance I'm seeing in this game and the pacing too, which directly ties in to the battle sizes for me.  Everything about this game hits the sweet spot for me, I absolutely love it.

When I was called upon to research the timeframe I had to look no farther than the pile of dog-eared reference books on my bookshelf. It was as though i had been prepping for this project since 1979. This was MY timeframe hobbyist-wise.

    Hey all,
I had strayed away from our beloved CM for awhile and then noticed a few weeks ago that Cold War had come out!  What a surprise and something I never thought would happen from the previous talk of it.  Anyway, finally sprung for it and man!  I do think this is my favorite CM game yet!  I don't know what it is or why but it just seems paced and balanced so nicely.  I really really enjoyed Afghanistan back in the day and I really like playing around with the Soviets as well as the NATO forces.  I'm just blown away by how much this has hooked me.  I love CMBS but it's SO DEADLY and more difficult because of all the modern pin-point accuracy.  CMCW just hits the sweet spot.
How do you all rank this one with the rest of the CM family?

    Hey Guys,
Thank you very much for the very positive feedback.  Gotta say that beyond Bil and I dreaming away about the "bads ol days" we were really hoping to deliver something that might bring some entertainment and happiness in what have been some pretty crappy times.
CMCW is the game that fit the niche we didn't know we were missing (well some definitely did), it is in that sweet spot between WW2 and the modern titles that not only blends but has a unique identity all its own.  I know not everyone will take to it but there are more than enough time-titles in the BFC library for everyone, we are just really glad we could maybe get one more out there.
