  1. Any HQ has a supply of 5, no matter where it is placed. I don't think that a HQ chain affect supply of the second HQ, is only adds movement.
  2. You kinda forget the biggest mistake of them all : Afganistan (backing Osama Bin Laden against Russia).
  3. A Barbarossa in 1940 means no Spain, probably no Egypt (and thus no Syria and Iraq), no Portugal... Plus, if you move all UK units to the UK mainalnd, you can hit Germany early with a HQ, 2 armies, 1 tank and 2 corpses. Not much, but enough to get three-four top German unit's attention, troops that are needed in Russia. The Axis don't have a change...
  4. I don't agree. I think that the scale of the game should allow for specific targets of air interceptions. High command can decide to intercept enemy fighters that are attacking Brussels but don't intercept when they are attacking Paris.
  5. It's kinda sad that the auteur didn't mention anything about elections. One would think that that is a bit more important then student papers or porn. Something like 27) The president won't be elected by a mayority but appointed by 11 in-crowd people. Oh, wait...
  6. The current patch (1.05) won't run on Vista, no. But apperently the next patch will run on Vista : there were instructions for Vista-players in the test-patch 1.0607.
  7. Euh... Didn't the price of oil tripled since he took office ? http://www.wtrg.com/oil_graphs/oilprice1947.gif You got to hand it to him : he did a pretty good job for his oil friends !
  8. 1 gallon [uS, liquid] = 3.785 liter And I think that the current gasoline price here in Belgium is about 1.2€ / liter, so that would be... 5.5$ per gallon...
  9. :waves at his mail opponent. No, I never saw it. I only see a level 3 corps pop up when someone DOWs Syria.
  10. In one of my mail games, I left the Maginot line to destroy the German fortifications. It was after he attacked the Low Countries, so he was able to walk into the Maginot line and destroy it. I think that it's worth giving up the Maginot line if you can destroy those fortifications behind the river, they area a pain to take later on !
  11. Well, just don't come to Belgium : the mood is still very, very anti-American. I live in Brussels (the capital of Europe) and I can't remember that the mood had ever been so much against a particular country. Brussels is very open towards other nationalities, no matter where you come from. Except when you're an American.
  12. I don't like the mud at all : just winter and clear, that's enough for me. It's kinda silly that an army can only move 50km in a whole month, even if there is mud.
  13. On turn one move your tank in Paris, place the armies from the border just north of Paris and the HQ just south of Paris. Upgrade the tank to level 1 and strengthen the tank to 10, with the HQ behind it. That's as good as it gets for France. Once the Germans move in, you can opertae the three armies from the fortifications to Paris if you want.
  14. You can mail me your turn too, WormWood. 1.05 and 1.0605 are apparently compatible : I can play with Rambo's turn.
  15. Euh... I am not sure that I am allowed to talk about it, hehe, I never read the fine print And I am not sure that 1.05 is comptaible with 1.0605. But send me the first Axis turn and I4ll find out !
  16. I can do a new email game, but I am at 1.0605 (beta) so... If anyone wants to play with that version, lemme know at sb011953@skynet.be
  17. The "you may not move naval units of neutral countries" is one of (only) two house rules that I use. Without this rule, you can seriously abuse your Italian navy : you can -for instance- move the Italian fleet to Egypt, surround the carrier and when Italy joins sink the carrier and go back to your ports. Or block the Germansd in the Baltic with the Russian units (granted, this makes Finland angry, but that's no big deal). It's unfair. (BTW the only other house rule that I ask is not to put all French units on a transport, hoping they'll become British units when France surrenders).
  18. Let's break the numbers down and see where to put them... The 7 units of eastern Europe go to partisan duty in Yougoslavia (2), the Russian marshes (2) and their own capitals (3). The airplane you can actually use to fight, yes. The 5 finish troops go to Leningrad (1) the marshes there (2) and its own capital (1). That leaves one free unit for -say- the Danish street. Say we abandond Africa entirely. Then the Italian ones go to Italy (4), Sicily (1), Tirana (1), Greece (1) and Spain (3). So, for the Germans, you got... Portugal (1) Gibraltar (1) France (3 if you leave all the fortifications open which is kinda silly, but soit) Denmark (1) North-west Germany (3, including the sea-street) Munich or Berlin (1) The rest go to Russia. Now, you need 7 to cover the cities until Kharkov. That leaves you exact 3 (three) German corpses ready to fight east of Kharkov/Moscow. And we all know that the battle of Russia only begins there. Three... Bottom line: you got to keep certain cities in the east or west undefended if you want to advance further in Russia. Solution ? You should get extra garrison units when you take France, Spain or Egypt. Or you should be able to break down armies into corpses. Or no partisans in marshes/mountains (you lose *6* crops to that).
  19. I don't want to build walls of corps, but as it is now, you can not even defend all cities against a landing. And that is wrong, IMHO, you should be able to garrison the cities.
  20. Perhaps it's possible to take Syria without going into Egypt... And go east from Syria ?
  21. I am beginning to agree on the theory that you can't hold Africa as Axis against a determined HvH Allied player. I looked at both my HvH games and even though I made mistakes, I believe that you can't hold it against a determined HvH player anyway. The RN, is very, very strong : if he brings in the three carriers (with flank support) any units in any city is toast. And with the airplanes he can make sure you can't operate or transport anything out anyway. And that Malta effect is pure dicey : if you're out of luck, the supply goes from 5 to 0 and you're dead (that happened in my game against Rambo, one turn I'm happily attacking him, next turn he gets two Malta-effects on the city and I am dead). Another luck-makes-or-break-your-game thing Perhaps I should totally forget about Africa in HvH all together and focus 100% on Russia. Let the Allies have Africa and D-Day from there, if I can knock Russia more or less out, I can perhaps fight back the D-Day.
  22. About diplo : when you turn it off, do the Balkan States always join the Axis then ? Even when you DOW Vichy and Spain ?
  23. Yes, I didn't dare to abandon North Africa. What good is advancing in Russia when he can land a zillion units from Africa right in my backyard ? And in defending Africa I made the mistake of leaving Algiers undefended so he could land in the back. But IMHO the Axis REALLY need more corps to garrison everything. I had EVERY land unit on the board, all corps, all armies, all HQ and all tanks. But nearly all corps were needed to garrison France, Spain, Denmark, Africa and Russia so I just didn't have enough punch in Russia. The Axis should REALLY be able to build more corps when he takes certain countries ! Or work with a point based system where you can take one less tank but -say- three more corps. Against the AI no change is needed, because you don't need to garrison everything, but HvH you got to keep everything garrisoned and you simply don't get enough units to do that.
  24. I would like to see apoint based system for land based units too. I want the choice to have more corps for Axis to garrison everything instead of more armies to fight in Russia and take cities that I can not garrison anyway.
