  1. Are screenshots allowed in this forum? Could some of you post some, so those like me who don't have the game yet could get a better idea of the possibilities? Thanks.
  2. I searched the PDE forum here for anything on railroads and found nothing substantive. Can someone describe how that feature has changed the game in terms of keeping units in supply and front management?
  3. I'm still in my first SC2 game, using the Thrawn mod. Deep into the Russian campaign. Have taken Leningrad and Moscow, the Russian capital has moved to Stalingrad. Seems that the Russian AI is totally centered around cities. There is no continuous front-line, per se. So I can pretty much ignore any territory between cities - no threats. Thus there are huge gaps in my own frontline, with most of my forces concentrated around the Russian pockets in the cities. My question is: is this because the Russian AI is dealing with too few units right now to make a front line, or is it just the way the AI works?
  4. Not to belabor the point, but just to confirm: 1) supply chains are thus only useful for specific situations when one needs an overextended HQ to be able to move a bit faster/farther than it would if not in the chain ( e.g. over mountains) 2) for all non-HQ units, if they move beyond normal supply, then an HQ chain does nothing.
  5. I have a situation like this: C98765432H9H Where C = 10 strength city. The second HQ is at supply level 8. So what you're saying is that all the other units are drawing supply from the first HQ. They get nothing really from the second HQ. So supply chains are useless for all other units? [ February 09, 2007, 07:36 AM: Message edited by: gwgardner ]
  6. I'm trying to grasp supply issues. I pretty much understand the supply/HQ/HQ chain concepts. As such, am I correct in this statement: Given a supply source of strength 10, one HQ ten action points from that supply source, and then another HQ within 5 action points of the first HQ - then that's the same supply value as an out of supply HQ, namely a supply value of 5. So beyond 15 action points from a supply source, no HQ could ever have a supply value greater then 5. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for any help.
  7. Hi, The suggestion has been made before, and I would just like to reiterate it: a nice enhancement for 1.6 would be some indicator of HQ supply paths. Would be great if the path were highlighted automatically, as are attached units, when clicking on an HQ. I am still in my first game of SC2, and loving it. It's habit forming.
  8. This seems such an obvious need for the game, different colors for each of the minors. Is it indeed impossoble to fix?
  9. I am playing my first game of SC2 as the AXIS, using Thrawn's Mod, on the lowest diffulty, and AI experience bonus of 0. It is April, '41, and only Russia and the US stand against the AXIS now. After Russia declared war on the AXIS in '40, it's been beaten back handily. I guess the US may enter the war in a big way sometime, but so far everything is pretty easy. What is considered 'normal' for diffuclty and experience settings by experienced players? Should I just go to the max for both?
  10. I can't figure out what the little numerals at the bottom left corner of the unit symbols stand for. Have looked through the manual and forums. Example, in my game I have two corps in adjacent locations, their properties are the same, and yet one has two numeral 'ones', the other has three. The only difference I can see between them is their supply status. Thanks for any help.
  11. Thrawn European Theater Version 2 Not sure how to check that in the editor. I'll keep looking. [later] Ok, I looked in the 'edit combat target data' and you did indeed up the action points. So I apologize. I'm enjoying your mod. Thanks. [ January 30, 2007, 08:15 PM: Message edited by: gwgardner ]
  12. Hi, I'm playing my first game of SC2, using Thrawn's mod. I notice that the number of squares a unit can move is the same as in the standard game. Since the map is greatly expanded with Thrawn, why don't units get greater movement ranges? Thanks for any help.
  13. I just installed fantomas' graphics mod. Very impressive. The map comes alive, all the features are clearer, better defined. Even the clear terrain now has some texture. Especially intriguing is the 3d effect with the unit icons. Thanks fantomas for making this available.
  14. I'm cautious about getting new games. Been burned too many times. Not trolling. Just wistful for a game that could compare to the fun of the old board games I used to play in the 70s, like War in the East (SSI). So many PC games fall way short. The graphics of SC2 put me off in the demo version, but I can live with that if the AI is good. so I will definitely buy it now with all the good reports above. thanks.
