  1. Ooh ooh...I forgot something that impressed me last night...but can't remember if it was like this in CMBO as well. After one of my mortar teams moved up the field a bit, when he got settled back down, there was a little timer that appeared that counted down how many more seconds until he was setup and ready to fire. Thought that was awesome.
  2. Oh yeah...my own favorite little thing is the trees that sway in the wind! LOL- when I first saw it happen I thought it was because there were units there moving the vegetation around...oh well, even though that's not the case it still looks cool as all get out!
  3. Well we all know by now most of the major changes from CMBO to CMBB. But what about all the little things? I love the attention to detail and all the small changes that show how much BTS loves this game. So hows about it peoples? What your favorite 'little' change in CMBB?
  4. Has anyone else besides me tried using smoke to cover the advance? I tried smoking the trees in the center and right side of the map, then advance on the left flank with about 1/2 my infantry. In turn 13 now and it looks like it's working pretty good so far. The smoke cover also allowed me to advance my T34s and my support guys into better covering positions. Anyone else try this? [edit] By smoke I mean using the FO's advance artillery fire as a smoke screen. [ September 03, 2002, 01:21 PM: Message edited by: Danzig ]
  5. ...for I fear it will only make me more hungry for the game itself. Then I'll never be able to wait 3 more weeks without going postal. Will I be able to resist the temptation? I don't really know, but we'll just have to see. What's everyone else's thoughts on this? DL now or wait for the whole cha-bang?
  6. Hey PC Gamer turned me on to CM as well with that Best 100 games of all time issue. Maybe BTS should send a thank you note their way! =)
  7. Damnit man! Now I have to get this damn time machine working. It's the only way I'll be able to make it through the next month!!! Great interview and some sweet info. Much appreciated!
  8. Hmmm... I stand by my first comment. If I came into this thread before you did and stated something along the lines of "how could you compare the greatest software writers ever to a figment of someone's imagination?" you don't think that would've been inappropriate? I certainly think it would have been, and I think that your statement was just as inappropriate. I do not try to demean religion or those who need to believe in something higher. I just don't see why people choose to take things so seriously sometimes when it comes to religion.
  9. LOL nice pic guys! I personally think they must have been at one of the "Awaken the Inner Man' weekend getaways. p.s. Leave it to the fundie to ruin a funny thread.
  10. Check it out. Found these on IGN. Not sure if they are new or not, but they are DAMN nice! =) IGN Screens of CMBB edit: hmmm UBB instacode no workie? Oh well, just copy and paste the url! [ August 21, 2002, 12:21 PM: Message edited by: Danzig ]
  11. Nice site, Fenris! Thanks for the heads up!!!
  12. Up to 44% and way past any of those other games! Good to see people recognize excellence when they see it.
  13. You know everytime I get linked over to your page from this forum, I always have the best intentions of reading your news blurbs. But then I get to those 5 screens of CMBB and my mind just sort of goes blank as I sit in awe, drool spreading down my lip to my chin and then onto my lap. Well, I'm happy to report that I've learned from my past mistakes. When your page loaded up, I closed my eyes and quickly did a blind scroll-down. I then worked my way up to the bastion of noteworthy news, thereby avoiding the harpy-like attraction to the CMBB screens! Cheers, Danzig
  14. Best. Wargame Sim. Evar. **HUG** **MANLY PAT ON THE BACK**
  15. Dang, that looks spiffy. I've always been aching for those wonderful old days of Steel Panthers when I would 'level up' my core units! =) Thanks for all the hard work, I will have to try this out this weekend!
  16. I played an IP game last night with someone who said it was his 1st MP game. The map had some dips in it, and about the 2nd round I start to see hordes of fricking infantry coming down a valley. Line after line of infantry markers appeared and at the end of the battle, he outlasted me with just too many infantry. I had taken just a company of crack rifle and was depending on a nice AT setup on my left flank and two Stug III with a nice hull down position on my right flank....oh well live and learn.
  17. After reading a post like that, I think I need my mommy...I'm scared! Funny stuff, man, funny stuff...
  18. This is one thread that can NOT get enough bumps. I've been playing CM for almost two years, and have been looking for something like this the whole time. I can't believe I just found it now! Great work-time reading material! Reading all of this and seeing how you guys think, it's no wonder I lose all the time!! Thanks, Danzig
  19. Amazingly, I saw that IGN had a Combat Mission review on thier site the other day. I didn't even know that IGN knew wargame simulators existed!
  20. fap fap fap fap fap fap fapfapfap Uh-hummm...OK I'm done with that picture, can we move on to the next one? OMG That is a pretty screenshot. Please tell me that's not been touched up in any way...it's almost breathtaking!
  21. WOOHOOHOOHOO! Long time lurker here...been waiting for this day for ever. And 5 days before my damn birthday! What a great present! Thanks BTS! Can't wait to get through this damn summer! =) You've warmed this ol' groggers heart!
  22. Wowza nice to see so many San Diegans and SoCals playing this great game! Was born in San Diego and have lived here all my life. Such a great, great city. Currently living in Mission Beach, home to some of the best looking women in the world. So Shakespeares, huh? Cool enough. My old boss when I was bartending put the owners of Shakespeare up in his house when they first came into the country with just a dream of opening a pub. It's not such a bad place as long as you can ignore those crazy Euros chanting during football games... Anyways- you guys would pick the weekend when I'm out of town, huh? LOL. Oh well. Hopefully I can catch it next time around...
