And it's a good thing when there is so much at stake.  All previous presidents got conned by China (& NK).

Found this on Tank Archives while trying to chase down something else. This is chiefly about MOUT and is essential reading if you would understand how the Soviets dismantled German defenses via CA tactics and organization. They were meticulous.

Can't believe it's already been an hour, but the French battle group in Estonia video was amazing. On the strength of what I saw there alone, I'd happily support your campaign to get the French into CMBS. They look serious and squared away. The colors are somber, so I absolutely didn't understand the jarring bright blue wash stations or whatever they were. Those things would be a nightmare to camouflage. It found it remarkable how low the vertical profile was for the Le Clerc in the field. Has always looked like a beast to me when imaged at defense shows and such. Shall have to watch the other videos but in the sidebar to this one was a video series called "Armies de Mer__" not reproed completely here in case the full word would get me into trouble with Steve! If it means what I think it means, as in the famous Cambron instance, then it would definitely be a bad idea to press my luck. That said, I don't know French, so there may be other meanings attached as well. My Squat +1 knowledge level of what's happening in Mali was considerably improved by the second video. I knew MARSOC was doing CT training there vs AQ, but I was unaware there was a hot war going on. Love those big AMX armoured cars, if that's the right term. Always thought they were cool.

No idea why I got a quote of my previous one. Couldn't get rid of it, so we're stuck with it.

Believe this will be of interest to those of you who like to reskin buildings. A truly cool book. If you ever wondered how to make an onion dome, this book shows how it's done!

Erwin reacted to John Kettler in Infantry locating distant AT-guns despite heavy fog
There was a case from the Battle of the Bulge in which a scared young soldier, who wasn't FA at all, found himslf directing fire onto a German troop concentration (a regiment, I think) while fogged in. He did it by direction of the sound, then listening for screams and shrieks as round after round was fired in adjustment both to deflection and range. When he heard the screams and shrieks, he reported back and the FA went to FFE. I've read similar accounts from the Eastern Front using the sIG 33 15 cm howitzer. Would note, though, that it's a lot easier to hit a big body of men than a relatively tiny ATG position. Unless the ATGs keep firing, there shouldn't be further refinement on their true locations. Now if the artillery survey boys have their mic lines out, that would be different. I've read of a battle in which the Germans pounded away, we pounded back, then went doggo while we systematically sound located all the German guns, When we came roaring back into the fight, we hit 'em with everything including Corps artillery, smashing the German batteries clean out of the fight.

Not sure if you realize that there is already a massive mod that changes CMSF into looking like Europe - landscape, buildings, vehicle and inf camo.
Am thinking that if we are lucky, your CMBS (European-type) mods may work with a Euro-modded CMSF and CMSF2.

Probably best strategy is to threaten Chinese interests and let them take care of NK.  eg: Trade War and withdrawal of US biz interests in China.  The additional benefit is dealing with Chinese expansionism into S. China Sea (and other places like Africa, S. America and current incursions vs Bhutan and India etc) at same time.

Depends on whether the next module for CMBS features winter months.  But, I imagine that if the mod is available people will like it.
Just don't spread yourself too thin, Olek.  Over the years we've seen many modders go nuts and do a huge amount of work, then suddenly they burn out and disappear.

CMBS: Camouflage For M4 Rifles + Night Optics By Oleksandr

This mod will provide you with M4 rifles being camouflaged.

What is more important is that I’ve recamouflaged optics for Night Ops missions.

Now there are no desert elements in rifles what makes these units fit better into Eastern Europe War Theatre.

I’m going to rework all of those US weapons accordingly.

Let's see what will going to happen, but again, I already mentioned that I'm very skeptical about it, and it is not only me that thinks in that way. How many talks have been done since 1990s when the first DPRK nuke attempt was detected, and see what happened now? Whatever sanctions we pushed or supports we provided, they just proceed their plan (with the help from PRC, Russia, and Iran). They think we are fool. How many more times are needed to for you to be satisfied? How many times do you think we are OK to be fooled? 100 times more?
Are you sure that Kim's regime will follow the agreements and promises? Whatever promises and agreements we had since 1990s, Kim's family just pushed missile and nuke program whatever they promised. I don't think talks will going to work to denuclearize DPRK. Kim will send the peaceful gesture, saying he is willing to give up nukes, but I bet Kim will never agree to full scale inspection, and he will try to secretly continue their nuke program. It is not the first time they lied and did something similar to us, they already did this during Clinton and Bush. Honestly, I personally believe that anyone who claims the talk will going to work is very naive or fool or spy. If Kim will accept unconditional denuclearization and full scale inspection over entire nuke facility after the talk, I will be really surprised, but that is the miracle we (including me) are looking for. I really do wish the miracle, but realistically, I don't think Kim will give up nuke.
Regarding RoK president Moon, like I mentioned above, the current RoK leadership and cabinet are more or less lefty position and have pro-DPRK / pro-PRC tendency, all of them are originated from radical left organization like 'national university student front' or 'liberation movement' when they were young. Some of them sneak into DPRK and meet Kim il sung to support and praise Kim's regime during their 20s. Because of that, I'm very dubious about current RoK leadership's intention over 'peace talks' since they are willing to support DPRK regardless of UN sanctions.
Those are reasons why I'm not that positive to talks. I'm just crossing my fingers.

    CMBS: Hybrid Forces Mod BTR-80-1V152

This is an important addition to my Hybrid Forces mod – Command-Observation vehicle what will take a leading role in Hybrid Forces BTG commanding.

It being usually used for arty strikes correction, cooperation with units on the ground, frontline observation etc.

Those things are important instruments when it comes to commanding and providing information for hybrid forces battalion tactical groups.

    Artkin,
Thanks. BFC could, as a first pass, I believe, introduce it and apply "fuzzy logic" to each man who is Fatigued. It wouldn't affect marksmanship, though I can assure you from direct experience that you can be so worn down it's effectively impossible to read, eyes swim, occasionally seeing double, situations with all sorts of military implications, but it would have some unknown to the player impact on Spotting and Reaction Time. This would kill the ability of cunning players to game it to game it, since its effects would never be known until it was too late, though reasonable guesses could certainly be made. Some of the study curves could be employed to show the general trend line over time as sleep is lost, but then the fuzzy logic would be applied.

The ability to high function while Fatigued could also be tied to Experience and Motivation. Airborne troops are elite for very good reasons, and it relies on having the best candidates, rigorous selection processes and arduous training the line doggies generally don't get, never mind the luckless guys farther down the martial excellence chain. Mind, this isn't to say military miracles while way behind the eight ball like that aren't possible, just ever more unlikely. This is also why, when possible, high quality troops constitute the reserve, for it is they, other things being equal, who are likely to be most functional and possessed of the most combat nedurance. Suvorov/Rezun, who commnaded both a Motorized Rifle Company and a Tank Company, says this was standard practice in all levels of the Russian Army during his service, and I seriously doubt it was different during the GPW or is now. You want the battle winners to be available when the critical time and point are reached in the fight.

Working from first principles, in theory what I propose is doable and could be done under the hood, as so much is, but that may be just that, theory. Am no code jockey, still less one for BFC's proprietary code.

    John Kettler

I think you have a great point John. A fatigue feature which affects more than just running speed would come with a very welcome yet drastic change in gameplay.

Have always thought it ironic that we have many night scenarios where one has to alt-b plus turn the monitor gain up so that we have a weird "daylight" in order to see to play (and the wonderful game graphics now look like crap).  Never understood the point.  Stick with daylight scenarios imo.

Maybe a detailed tutorial that demonstrates the features of the CM2 system specifically CMBS while you learn to play - as opposed to the dry academic manual which overwhelms one with info, is hard to read and by the time you get halfway you've forgotten the info given at the start.
In other words a manual in which one is given context and info is given in a useful order which would make retention of all the info much easier.
