  1. I own the Twilight game, but like so many other cardboard games it's sitting around here unplayed. The reason I bought it is that it won several awards when it came out and www.boardgamegeek.com also rates it highly. When you consider that Labyrinth is probably the only serious global terrorism/insurgency game out there, I think it's a must buy for anyone interested in the topic.
  2. Well, let us know when the updated scenario is ready. Thanks...
  3. Very useful - esp for beginners, also a nice reference for almost everyone. I don't know if this even exists, but it would be invaluable to have information on the various DOCTRINES re how nationalities and branches (eg: USA vs US Marines) planned to USE the wide variety of units they field. Eg: I am never sure what to do with my HQ or Exec/2IC units. Who stays in the vehicle and who gets out to fight, and WHY? Thy WHY being what I am interested in. What are they being trained to do - esp since NATO when it looks as if the nations are training for completely different wars.
  4. Thanks... It can get confusing with so many versions floating around.
  5. Me too. GMT is about the best cardboard game co out there, and their TWILIGHT game system on which Labyrinth seems to be based won best game of 2008/9(?)
  6. Re Erik's post re China's gas: "They buy on the open market, but also have their own operations in Africa. They are in the process of buying large concessions in Nigeria, and are already present in Sudan, Angola, Mozambique. They have also contracts with Iran." Basically, this puts China in a bad place akin to Japan's prior to WW2. Figuring out where oil is and who needs it provides pretty good indicators of where the world trouble spots are likely to be.
  7. Scipio: Just to clarify... when I d/l one of your mods that seems to be a later version (as in "101a,b..." etc) can I safely delete the previous version(s) or is there some benefit to keeping them?
  8. All three of my CM1 games are heavily modded and for their purpose, (larger scale than CM2) I think look great. I think of CM2 as a different game from the CM1 games, but sharing a similar interface.
  9. Thank you... useful info... and great research site.
  10. One explanation is that the Chinese are casting covetous eyes over the ocean all the way to Indonesia, to include the strategic Mallaca Staits. I predict there is oil under them thar waters... And that is something they may be growing short of considering their massive increase in automotive ownership. (What are Chinese oil reserves/production - anyone know?)
  11. Thanks for the patch, guys! I take it that the Canadian and Dutch campaigns now work as designed - satchel charges and C2 functioning as advertised? If I already completed a mission in these, can I continue with 1.31, or is it advised that I start over the first mission?
  12. what's also amazing is that it was released. I always wonder about the reasons for presumably classified info appearing on U-Tube.
  13. This sounds like a job for a dynamic UN fact-finding commission!
  14. For what it's worth, in CM1 I got tired of playing vs the AI within a few months and have played CM1 vs humans ever since. However, after 2-3(?) years of CM2, I still get a great game vs the AI and I prefer the speed of play rather than waiting for a PBEM file. So, congratulations on the improvement! Perhaps if you included a tutorial info re how to best "program" an AI oppo to do the things you say it can do that people are requesting, they wouldn't be harassing you. Now get outa here and have a few days off, for cryin' out loud! We'll still all be here bitchin' and whinin' when you get back next Monday.
  15. Is the ammo sharing feature for all ammo, or only support weapons? If the latter, are there any support weapons that for some reason do NOT share - not sure if the exotic sniper ammo would qualify??.
  16. "...I got some looks from the girl across the street who hates the man and is impressed by this show of force." And there you have it... Pretty girl China maybe?
  17. Re cardboard wargames, I remember when computer games got interesting about 20 years ago, how I changed from a wargame player to a collector. I still have over a hundred brand new unpunched games from those days. Stopped religiously buying em maybe 10 years ago. But, every year or so I still check out www.boardgamegeek.com and then buy the very best top-rated wargames. (Which are still sitting around here unpunched someplace.)
  18. "Now, we have had the odd call here and there for cows, goats, sheep, and ox (strangely, yaks have been forgotten) to be modelled in CM..." Don't forget the Leather Bondage Brigade mod.
  19. I noticed the player seems to hardly ever use covered arcs, or use HUNT (just QUICK from the looks of it). Is that a RT play thing? (In WEGO I use covered arcs ALL the time and spend time changing them almost every turn depending on where I want my guys to be looking. And whenever I am close to the enemy I use HUNT and HIDE nearly all the time.)
  20. The other thing I noticed in this and the German Campaign video series, is that the players seem to hardly ever use covered arcs, or use HUNT (just QUICK from the looks of it). Is that a RT play thing? (In WEGO I use covered arcs ALL the time and spend time changing them almost every turn depending on where I want my guys to be looking. And whenever I am close to the enemy I use HUNT and HIDE nearly all the time.)
  21. Here ya go... Been eating turkey since Monday. Why wait till thursday... <burp>
  22. Hear, hear... ditto what frankser said! Happy Thanksgiving to all! (And let's stop harassing the poor sods at BFC so they can have a few days peace.)
