  1. Loving the KG Engel campaign. Doing Mission 4, the turkey shoot of Canadian armor as it tries to cross against my front. Now, I love blowing up all those Shermans, TD's, AC's and halftracks... But, I wonder why the designer (great job otherwise btw) made the 2nd wave follow the first wave on the exact same path when it would have been pretty obvious they were heading into an area full of burning wrecks? The 3rd wave did try a different route, which was smarter, (altho' they fared no better in the end). The Allied inf attack seemed doomed from the start thanks to the heavy German arty that is available. So, other than placing my HMG's too close to the front line buildings where a Sherman knocked out one HMG leaving one survivor (stupid positioning on my part) and a few of the at start Recon troops, halftracks and an inf gun getting WIA/KIA (largely thanks to the heavy Allied barrage at the start) have suffered only one PzIV loss from an Allied ATG with 60 minutes to go. I already have a Tactical Win if I Cease Fire, but I will try and capture the victory locations for fun. There is also a sneaky Allied armor attack shaping up on my left flank and some Allied inf working its way thru the woods. So, there still life left in this scenario - excellent. This is a fun scenario altho' it's possible that many will say that it's too easy. But, I say that's war. Some battles should be easy IF you do the right tactical actions. While others may be a bitch no matter how smart you are. My only beef has nothing to do with the scenario but the way my own ATG was spotted and killed way to easily imo. I'll post on that elsewhere.

While Britain may well have continued to fight guerilla style if invaded, the real consequence would have been a vastly more difficult logistical issue for the US in terms of getting back to the European continent. So, BOB was decisive even though very few men were involved The invasion in N Africa was direct from the US, but it was tiny compared to Normandy and against dubious quality French opposition. Probably, N. Africa would have had to be the main US build-up area and the main invasion would probably then be via S. of France or Italy.
  3. Is that something you could do? The default is boring and Juju's seems too dark and doesn't match with the rest of your UI graphics. I prefer your UI colors and shades.
  4. A couple of Divisions of Man U gangs and the war would've ended a lot quicker! And no problem with casualties either. Hell, they're still trying to start another war in Europe aren't they?

  6. A problem I just experienced is my tanks not being able to see across a wheatfield, so I keep advancing them to get LOS to a road that I want to ambush some enemy tanks on. Suddenly the enemy tanks arrive and they are only a hundred yards away - way too dangerously close. It turns out it's easy to see across a wheatfield at a vehicle, but the LOS tool doesn't make that clear - in that one can't target trees that would also be much higher. Oh well, chalk that up to experience I guess.
  7. Marco: Does your mod include a replacement "call for artillery" button (the one you press to access the arty pieces)?
  8. Just curious... re the default support button, isn't it the same one every time? Are you saying that just that one button requires 4 components? So, it will not work to substitute 4 other graphics and rename them as your buttons are named? Unfortunately, I find your button to be too dark. I can barely make out that it's supposed to be a gun. Was hoping for something lighter, more like Bergman's.

  10. Re the support button (what you press to access arty support). Can one only select one? Am wondering whether to simply pick an arty piece I like from the silhouettes and copy and rename it.
  11. I find the mission support icons a bit dark. Also, does one pick just one? I don't recall ever seeing that button change.

  13. Hey, I'm one of your biggest fans! And it's your fans' job to make sure you don't get lazy or cocky... Think of me as that poor sod who ran beside the Roman emperors chanting "All glory is fleeting" or somesuch just to prevent the big dude from resting on his laurels.
  14. They look great - but I still think they look rather new and not well-worn or washed-out enuff as you showed us in the RL pic.
  15. re the HQ limitation, I put em all in and label the one I want at the time with a Z prefix. Hope that's the easiest way to do it. I also simply copied in the new arty piece overwriting the old one. Hope that is ok, and we do not need to keep the old one for any reason? I noticed that the main difference is that the new one has a gun shield.
  16. Gawd, I really hope mission 13 isn't a "find the trick" challenge (that all those wrist twitchers depend on to keep people replaying missions and thus giving the illusion of value for money). The great think about CM games is that using good tactics they should be winnable first time thru. I can only hope that TrailApe is... well a real ape (no offense meant mate).
  17. Am finding this exact issue a problem also. It seems that you have to keep both the platoon and section HQ's close to the mortars and then have another spotter with a radio (FO or HQ) any place else on the map to call for the arty fire. I have seen HQ's that have NO radio far away on the map be able to call for arty in this way. Am suspecting its a bug where the UI does not show any radio in the remote spotter's equipment roster, nor radio contact, but the system ACTS as if the spotter has a radio. I find that one cannot use either the heavy weapons section HQ, nor its platoon HQ for spotting, unless both are within close visual range of their mortars. Am hoping that someone more knowledgeable can clarify...
