  1. Hi Umlaut... Um... can you slow down a bit, mate. Am running out of HD space, and won't get a new system with larger HD till I get back home in mid-July. Plz hold off any more mods till then old boy. Cheers...
  2. That last link is no longer active. Can you give a link to the latest version so we know the briefings are ok? Don't want to start the campaign using a defective .cam file. Thank you for all your work!
  3. "...my preferred example in every instance and on my monitor is with shaders off and Reshade on." Same here. They are all beautiful images of a lovely model. The way I am judging them is how well the vehicle blends into the BG.
  4. You d/l from the dropbox, but you can d/l all files in one large d/l.
  5. The pictures and the model you made are beautiful, Worghern. I am talking about the realism of having a camo'd vehicle that is supposed to be hard to spot. You have done the opposite in order to showcase the lovely model you made. That is fine for your graphics purposes. It is wonderful that your wife likes it. That's the ultimate endorsement for a wargame.
  6. In that case I am impressed!! So there is hope to win Lifeline when I get to it.
  7. IIRC in WW2 it took approx. 25,000 of small arms bullets to kill one guy. Add up all the small arms ammo available in a CM game and count how many are killed at scenario end. The casualty level is usually way out of line. That high level is usually caused by time limits forcing the player to take non-realistic high risk actions. Many of us like to use good tactics and enjoy that application more than just winning regardless of costs (and hence why imo campaigns are "better"). Of course this is primarily applicable to playing vs the AI (hence the attraction of campaigns). Playing head to head I can understand why battles degrade to "fight to last man" endings.
  8. Is this the latest version including the mods made some months ago last year? Those old links don't seem to work.
  9. I actually think the first pic is the most realistic-looking in terms of winter gloom. The 2nd is also good - a bit of sunshine. The third and 4th look way too contrasty and the tank looks like it's painted to stand out against the terrain, not blend in.
  10. Re time limits, I'd like to see more penalties for high friendly casualties like we had in CMSF. That should help decrease the number of "fight to the last man to win" type scenarios and encourage players to be more realistically careful with the lives of their electronic troops. That would require more generous time limits, as just "winning regardless of cost" would no longer be as viable as it is now
  11. Well firstly, I wish people would say whether they played RT or WEGO as it makes a HUGE difference. (Obviously it's MUCH easier to beat the AI playing RT. You are basically playing a different game.)
  12. Yes, I just remembered that I need to remove the files from the root directory as well. Duh... I love the visual effect of your mod, so will try it again with different NVidia settings.
  13. Yes. As previously mentioned, ever since CMSF we have the ability to do victory calculations that involve the requirement that one suffer minimal, or more realistic friendly casualties. The reason many of us play campaigns almost exclusively is that they usually require force (and ammo) conservation to win. Scenarios that designed around "fight to the last man" to win are awful imo (and unrealistic in the sense that they were very rare). It's fine occasionally, but too many standalone scenarios are like that.
  14. Worghern's Re-shaders seems to result in my screen gradually becoming opaque with gritty whiteout when I load the game, and when I press GO during a game. So, I removed the Re-shader mod, and restarted my computer. However, even without this mod in the Z folder, I see the text message saying that Re-shader 1.1 has loaded. As soon as I see the text message, the screen (not the menu itself) slowly starts going whitish-pink "snow". It disappears once I select a scenario. But, it starts again when I press GO after completing a turn. The screen slowly goes a granular pinkish-white while processing takes place. But, when the movie starts the problem disappears and the screen looks fine. Thinking there was a mod incompatibility, I removed my entire MODS folder to my Desktop. But when I restarted the game, I still get the text message that Re-shader1.1 is installed, and the problem still exists. When I press SCROLL LOCK to disable Re-shader, I don't get the whiteout effect. But, the Re-shader is still clearly still installing from someplace. Does the Re-shader mod install to some other place than the Z/Mod folder as well, so I need to hunt it down and remove?
  15. Very much enjoyed this AAR. Lots of lessons to be learned. FWIW I thought that guarding the ford was a good idea. Urban combat (clearing the town) to get to the bridge could have been very costly for the Ukrainians. It appears as if there are better long range fire possibilities for the Ukrainian vehicles at the ford than in town. As the attacker I would have considered the ford first simply to avoid urban combat. The problems for the Russians were compounded when the units, esp snipers, were not moved after firing. Leaving units in one place after firing for a minute or longer is usually fatal. However, it appears that safe retreat routes were not thought out and many were killed trying to retreat.
  16. Hi Ian... Have you figured out which of the other CM2 game mods is best for CMFB re the range and caliber info? I agree re the compass.
  17. Just tried all three of those CMMODS links and all "not found". ???
  18. Default installation location is Libraries/Documents/Combat Mission/"Name of Game"/Game Files
  19. FWIW: I only fired up the first mission. But, the briefings showed up fine.
  20. Amazing Umlaut. But, you give us such a hard choice between your mods and Aris'.
  21. "...it can be 100% safely crossed provided that your guys don't start running." You have a page number for that? I recall getting blown up when using MOVE thru a marked minefield in CMBN. But that was years ago. It is possible a wee patchy has changed things. Also, IIRC if there is more than one minefield in a "hex", each one has to be discovered and marked separately... Or you'll think you're safe to move thru, but... More clarification re minefields would be helpful.
