  1. Generally... In the small map built-up games one needs to use the vehicles like fragile big gun snipers. Generally one should use the (expendable) inf to spot enemy positions. Then suppress positions that could bring AT weapons to bear on the locations where one wants to put one's vehicles. Then bring up the vehicles and use their big guns to destroy the enemy positions and kill the enemy.
  2. Agreed. What is the point of a game without content? Yes, there are a lot of scenarios, but CM series is most satisfying when played as a campaign and one has to deal with ammo and force conservation issues. Unfortunately, many user made campaigns are a bit "lazy" in that one starts every mission with a new full-supplied force. In these lesser quality campaigns, previous losses are not something one has to worry about.
  3. I was a huge fan of Philip K Dick and read everything of his when I was a teenager. They were actually life changing as his ideas made me think of the world in a different way. However, High Castle was not one of my favorites. Many of his other books have now been the basis for many movies and TV series re alternate futures. (eg: Blade Runner based on Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep; We can Remember it Wholesale became Total Recall; and so many more...)
  4. I enjoyed playing it and won every mission in the campaign. But be aware that there are different branching missions if one loses missions - and those extra missions are a lot of fun as well. I recommend that you try and lose missions and get to the "Final Stand" mission (which if you lose ends the campaign). Fighting back to victory from that Final Stand mission is like playing a new campaign.
  5. Presumably the helicopters are part of some "transport command" and only farmed out to airmobile units as needed? "Not a Good Day To Die" - about Op Anaconda describes how this lack of unit cohesion/training together creates huge problems when they are suddenly expected to operate together in combat.
  6. The thing is why have BF work on such a large variety of vehicles for every title when only the same few vehicles selected from a "pool" of maybe only a dozen vehicles seem to make it into all scenarios and campaigns? I can only recall maybe one scenario that featured a Brummbar... or a JagtTiger... and am pretty certain that there are many CM2 vehicles that have NEVER been featured... ever...
  7. IIRC both sides always had air assets from the start. But, CMSF did not feature any anti air capability.
  8. Very cool. In the original CMSF only the Brits had vehicular mounted MG's and AGL's that could be dismounted and used on foot.
  9. +1 It was very impressive that BF kept on improving CMSF until it became so brilliant. Most, perhaps all other developers would have cut their losses, abandoned CMSF and moved on.
  10. If one is going to get heavily into mods, one needs to have a mod folder "policy". Eg In your main"Z" FOLDER you could have Z TERRAIN; Z UNIFORMS; Z UI; Z FX; Z SOUNDS; Z VEHICLES; and even ZZ DESIRED MODS to check on new mods and decide if you want to use them. The more "Z's" b4 the name of the folder, the later the mods in that folder will be loaded. So you can be sure that the mods in that folder will load last and be in the game regardless of conflicts.
  11. The complexity and time commitment required for making good campaigns is prohibitive for most of us. Am happy to pay BF for professionally made content that uses all the features (eg: requires ammo and force preservation, branching storylines etc) of CM2. IIRC when I looked at my Campaigns folder there are more campaigns available for all titles than you listed. But I can't recall which are the new ones and which came with the base game.
  12. This is interesting: "One exciting new feature Call To Arms brings to the table is the ability to take control of any unit from the first-person perspective. This feature combined with fully destructible environments..." It also appears that many of the other games are offering SE Asia theatres including China and Korea.
  13. Yup. Same here. So it's a mystery why it was always advised to remove all mods b4 upgrades.
  14. You'd need to check if "pink" was identified with feminine tastes in those days. A lot of that sort of gender-based stuff was created by post war marketing departments.
  15. Once one gets used to the concept it becomes a conventional soap opera with cool Hugo Boss designed Nazi SS and Imperial Jap uniforms. (Not as good as Dick's book.) I lost interest after a few episodes, browsed the subsequent series quickly, and forgot about it.
  16. I spend more time trying to avoid signing up to receive ads from some of the sites you link to than viewing the site.
  17. Yes... we can't get enuff really good campaigns.
  18. Ok thanks... I guess I don't understand how Reshade works. When I first tried it out a couple years ago there was only one version that I was aware of and it gave some visual weird phenomena. So, I never tried it again. I looked at the site, but would like a summary of what the principles underlying Reshade are. ie: How to select "what one wants". What I want is the best looking graphics. Don't understand the process of accomplishing that. (Seems much more sophisticated than a couple years ago.)
  19. How does one decide upfront "what shaders one wants to d/l"? Also, you have a link for the d/l? Thanks.
  20. Very impressed by the controls you are using to change the look of the game in Reshade. I tried Reshade a long time ago - but didn't see the controls you show you are using. Where did you get that version?
  21. Hope I am back up and running for your new scenario or campaign or whatever you are doing...
  22. IIRC we are advised to remove all mods b4 an upgrade. But as mods are in a separate Z folder have never understood why mods should be removed.
  23. That pro-Russian Ukr Separatist mod is very useful in MOS's xnt TOC scenario. Highly recommended if you haven't yet got it from CMMODS. Love seeing those long range missile shots. Don't recall ever seeing that sort of long range shooting in a CM2 game b4.
