  1. The penalty for loading up inf with as much ammo and equipment as possible seems very "moderate" imo. ie: No noticeable penalty the way I play. But, I rarely run my guys FAT or for long distances. My SOP is to give a team or squad enuff ammo so they have an average of approx. 400 rounds each with some extra ammo for a MG. And maybe an extra RPG or two. To me that seems realistic if one knows one is going into a firefight. But, hopefully a more experienced warrior can comment on what a RL loadout would be.
  2. Thanks John. Have been worrying about this and feel much better now I know that.
  3. Ooops... Yes, I already forgot his name lol! Sorreee... PS MOS: Been traveling and busy a lot so had to take a hiatus from TOC. Looking forward to getting back to asap. But, may not be able to play (any game) till next year(!)
  4. Competent Incompetence is also very good with branching missions.
  5. Just makes me ache for a North Africa mod or game. Coupled with the CMSF2 desert terrain, most everything one needs already exists.
  6. (As I posted elsewhere), it's amazing to see how many vehicles are available - and how FEW are featured in all the RT scenarios. We seem to see the same dozen or so over and over again.
  7. What this does demonstrate is how FEW vehicles have been used by designers in scenarios. I bet if one looks at 90% of all scenarios made - they look as if the game only features a dozen or so options for vehicles on each side. Wonder why designers only seem to use the same dozen or so vehicles over and over again. IIRC the editor provides formations. So, is it hard to locate all these other vehicles in the editor???
  8. Yes, most of us CM1 fans were shocked at CMSF when it first came out. I put it aside for a couple of years and then started to hear good things about the patched versions. Eventually it became superb and bug-free and my favorite title. Was very impressive that BF kept at it until they got it right. That's a major reason why we old-timers are very patient and understanding when new BF titles take more time to be released. One can be confident that BF will "get it right".
  9. It's based on the (brilliant) Philip K. Dick book of the same name "The Man In The High Castle".. Concept: In an alternative universe, the Nazis (who developed the nuke bomb first) occupy the US to the eastern Rockies, and the Japanese occupy the US to the west of the Rockies. The Rockies are a neutral no man's land. The TV series is a bit soapy. But, interesting.
  10. If BF can collect enuff presales for a DAK North Africa module or game, it could become a reality.
  11. Sgt Slaughter was working one some very interesting CMA scenarios and at least one campaign. Not sure what happened as I don't recall him finishing anything.
  12. Yes, v good point. Only a few campaigns have done this well. Found that the better campaigns tended to be made for CMSF1 in its last few years as designers had gained so much experience.
  13. Beyond the short timescale of CM scenarios.
  14. Even had a TV drama series in UK about German occupation of the Channel Isles.
  15. It is very refreshing to get away from the dense terrain and relatively small/claustrophobic euro-centric game maps to the large more open desert spaces of CMSF and CMAK. Larger maps are more playable with less built-up terrain. CMAK/CMSF allows for more mobility, recon vehicles become more important etc. Later battles in Tunisia could feature the units already present in CMFI, and the desert terrain of CMSF2. Altho' I loved the fluid and highly mobile early desert war in the "east" with Rommel vs "whoever preceded Montgomery".
  16. in some games, you have to by "Insurance" that covers your in-game losses - otherwise they are permanent and you have to buy the units all over again. (Check out "Star Citizen" for example.) Am dead serious...
  17. And the bloke on the right still looks exasperated while the left lover is nagging him about something...
  18. Yes. There were some wonderful scenarios made for CM1 with very interesting terrain and situations. Maybe most people haven't seen a desert and think it's either all sand dunes, or featureless flat. The highly desired CMSF2 is desert terrain. That's the irony. Just imagine it with WW2 equipment. And much of it could be ported or modded from CMFI
  19. Yes, all good points. The relatively small map sizes of the majority (altho not all) of CM2 scenarios limits one to virtual point blank assaults that are repetitive.
  20. Used to do that but it's too easy to get suppressed and massacred out in the open. Once one is reasonably sure there is no one who can shoot at your guys in the open I'd recommend QUICK move to the wall with 10 secs PAUSE b4 any movement to enter. Also note that it's devastating to have units entering a building be ambushed by enemy hiding behind the far wall of a building. It's best to time your entry for the last 5-10 seconds of a WEGO turn. That way your guys will usually spot any enemy and if required can FAST move out at the start of the next turn. This reduces casualties from such an ambush.
  21. Yes, providing specialized ammo loadouts was easy in CM1, not sure why not in CM2.
  22. Wow... I would say the exact opposite. It's the large mostly featureless desert expanses and larger maps with long LOS that differentiates CMSF from the other more "claustrophobic" titles.
  23. Wonder if they are looking at a modified "Star Citizen" model - players have to buy individual units and packages and getting access to all features costs a lot more $.
