Blatant ignorance of the General Forum here in this post! -
One thing I'd like to see in CMBB....
Herr Kruger posted a topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The abililty to alter rates of fire of your troops.... some people might say this is too much micormanagement, but if you are allowed to tell your slaves, um, soldiers to walk, crawl, run, advance to contact and vehicles to race, hunt, or move then I'd like to be able to order my mortars "lazily shell that copse of trees over there b/c we're not really sure if there are some Bolsheviks near it so we don't want you to waste all your ammo just yet"... so we could have a max rate of fire (maybe even misfires/duds hehe) and one or two lesser rates of fire... well, just something I thought of once. Oh yeah.. Wings baby! -
CMBO Replay of Band of Brothers Scenario
Herr Kruger replied to rexford's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
You are exactly right about SPR; the beaches really were compressed in that one too. There was a documentary called WE STAND ALONE TOGETHER released after BoB, or run immediately afterwards - there was an interview with Guarnere. He has his own website, check out http://www.wildbillguarnere.com</font> -
CMBO Replay of Band of Brothers Scenario
Herr Kruger replied to rexford's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The beaches in SPR always seemed the same way to me... so close up in the movie but then when I see some footage the beach seems so much longer and the bluffs/hills/whatever taller and German positions hard to make out.... What footage of the real Guarnere were you referring to? Sounds interesting. -
Where have all the mods gone?
Herr Kruger replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hi Manx! If I could MOD, I would... oh, my imagination but no way to get it out...! -
Michael Wittmann's gamey tactics
Herr Kruger replied to Louie the Toad's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Also in teh same book it talks about tank crews fighting... forget exactly where, but it comes before the Wittman chapter. -
On a side note : what temperature is considered dangerous...? ie. when you are looking in your BIOS or setup program and it tells you the system temp, what number should make you worry?
-
An incredibly vague and general post. You mention problems but speak of no specifics. You won't take the time to list any of them specifically, beyond saying the AI plays badly, and you also offer no suggestions for improvement. Perhaps you should make more of an effort in a post before you even post... say, like a few minutes thought. It's not hard... perhaps for you it is though...

Minor save game bug and some suggestions
Herr Kruger replied to Porkbrain's topic in Strategic Command 1
I really like the demo as well. I don't have that problem with saving games... however, clicking buttons in the opening menu and the options screen for the game takes forever to register the click... very strange. One thing I'd like to suggest about saved games as well is : could we have more space to type with? There is not enough, in my opinion. -
Okay, cool... I'll attack the problem when I gots the time... thanks, friendly board people!
-
Has anyone encountered my problem? I unzip the files, clickity click on sc.exe the game starts up, and then I try to begin a new game and it hangs up on me... I have to alt-cntrl-del the game away and then my system gets hung up... I am on Win 98 SE, PIII 450 MHz, 192 MB RAM.... 32 MB ATI Rage Fury
-
Oh, I am using Win 98 SE
-
How the heck do you find and change your refresh rate??
-
Okay, first off, the unzipping... this is the install process, right? Nothing furhter needs to be done? Because the game did not show up in my menu system at all, I had to go find sc.exe in my folders and click it. Anyway, when I clicked it I can get to the start screen alright, but when I click "New game" not too much happens lol. Anyway, I did not have time to try it again.

Fionn Kelly's New Balanced Force Rules
Herr Kruger replied to RobH's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hmm, that's very constructive, Gyrene. Give your head a shake. NO ONE is saying you have to use these, understand? What's with all this negativity... So what if people like to play MEs or other QBS or others play only scenarios.... does it matter?! God forbid some people have fun with CM in different ways! These rules and the other rulesets people have created take time to make and test out, just like any MOD, and are designed to help with people having fun in this game! If don't like it, don't use it... [ May 19, 2002, 11:44 AM: Message edited by: Herr Kruger ] -
Personally, I'm really looking forward to this game.... how on Earth am I going to have time for friends and exercise and these games??!! Arrgghh!

Medal of Honour or Iron Cross
Herr Kruger replied to SuperSulo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
According to my info the Knight's Cross (in it's various grades) is a subset of the Iron Cross. Hitler reinstated the order in 1939, in which it had four grades : Iron Cross, 2nd Class; Iron Cross, 1st Class; Knight's Cross; and Grand Cross thus the full name of the Knight's Cross would be Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross indicating it is a subset of the Order of the Iron Cross.
