  1. I think that after the fall of France the "Free French" units really are handled as British units. If France is liberated, the units obviously stay British. If Hubert would make the game "remember" any Free French units, then he could code it so that those units become French again in case of liberation (I hope he will consider doing this). There are alot of issues with Vichy, for example that it can not be reunited with France after France is liberated. That they also have problems surrendering to the Allies is a new one, though. Straha
  2. So this is actually the original problem reversed: trouble retaking cities, avoiding surrender. Straha
  3. Well spoken, Immer. There ought to be Freaks, send in the Freaks! Straha
  4. I would love the tanks having the possibility to attack and *then* move (to exploit any holes just punched into the frontline) ... in which case I would even be willing to pay more MPPs for them. Straha
  5. I think mentioning the Germans specifically distracted somewhat from the real question. One could think about making stuff more expensive so that buying a new army would take longer ... but I doubt that anyone would like that very much. Straha
  6. Hubert, we love you! Thanks so much! Straha
  7. In danger of making everyone yawn: I was always saying that over time SC became more and more adjusted to fit the needs of an Axis human vs Allies AI game. No wonder that playbalance with respect to PBEMs got affected. My advise would be that either the more experienced player takes the Axis, or that the Axis player gets +1 experience by default. Straha
  8. This is one great mod! One of the very vew things I would like to have different is this: in the original as well as in the mod, the city icons resemble much more a production plant than a city. I for one would prefer an icon which has a more city-like look to it. Straha
  9. I know we are not supposed to talk about this, but there is one thing I don't understand and really would like to have addressed in the official statement yet to come: it was said that casual piracy accounts for 90% of all cases. Ok, but if this is so, isn't the real pertinent question with respect to potential losses of income for Battlefront/Furysoft then whether those guys casually pirating a game really would instead order it if there is a CD check? Straha
  10. For me, High Command was a big disappointment. Still, those anthems, and the more detailed map which included even Luxemburg, were things I remember with some fondness - and which I would love to see in a SCII. Straha
  11. I don't care very much about fancy 3D effects and such, but I still like beauty. E.g. if the city icon in SC would be different for Paris, Rome, London, Berlin and Moscow, this would add to the atmosphere of the game IMO. I did not play CM, but from what I know it is not an RTS game, but turnbased! (Right?) Actually, I find the idea to make *turnbased* 3D tactical games attractive ... it's just that my system is not very powerful, so I won't give it a try soon. Straha
  12. I agree ... CD-in-drive checks are not preventing piracy, but rather only harass the honest customers. Straha
  13. waltero, the beginner level is probably ok when you play the Axis, but if you play the Allies this level is much too easy. (I'd say I have to at least loose France one out of two times to make things interesting, and this only works with +1). I agree, though, that +2 is no fun. Straha
  14. Well, it *is* something I had a bit of a hard time getting used to. I mean often you blast a hole into the enemies frontline, but then you are not able to exploit it: because you already have attacked you may not move (and you basically also stand in the way of your own units which haven't yet moved). If this would be handled different (at least for the tanks), then the frontlines would be less static. Straha [ August 15, 2002, 01:33 PM: Message edited by: Straha ]
