1. Clubfoot, thanks for the hints, I'll try it with the Green units, but the problem of them giving intel to the opponent side is a big one. I really enjoyed the David and Goliath scenario, excellent mountain road map. Gyrene
2. Mannheim, I can't remember where I got any of the Skornzenny scenarios (CMHQ?) Tom, I tried to panic/exhaust and run the ammo down of the units, but like Ron said they still try to fight. Maybe they have to be completely surrounded and a nearby tank might help to convince them Gyrene
3. Warmaker, IIRC one of the Skorzenny scenarios involved freeing POW's along with a raid on a truck yard, but as I got my butt handed to me on that one I never got to see if there were POW's or not. I'll have to look at that scenario again from the Allies' side. Gyrene
4. ATI or nVidia card? The standard answer probably applies here: Drivers, drivers, drivers, CM seems to be extremely particular when it comes to video card drivers. Gyrene
5. I wanted to add POW's to the start of a scenario I'm working on (To keep the allies from simply destroying the Axis fortifications, and adding an extra dimension to the game involving their rescue), and I'm wondering if this can be done. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I tried to panic/exhaust/run out the ammo of half squads placed next to enemy units, but they just get anhilated by fighting back, instead of surrendering. Is this even possible? Gyrene
6. Weather conditions, especially visibility should also play a big factor on you quality choice, night/fog games are not places for regular troops, they'll panic quicker than an Axis Ladder Player on a random QB. Gyrene [ 06-12-2001: Message edited by: Gyrene ]
7. Do you guys still have all your fingers? Strange hobby, this one. Lots of souvenirs like that in Angola. Gyrene
8.
quote:
My one and only request for a new vehicle in CM 2 is the Flakpanzer IV Kugelblitz. The coolest tactical AA gun in the world. Twin 30mm belt-fed auto cannons in an armored turret... *drool*

Bah, that has nothing on the M-19 (A bit too late for WWII) Twin 40mm Bofors on a M36 chassis. Gyrene
9. A tournament of stars without Eurowarrior and Paton_Returns? I smell a sham! Gyrene [ 06-11-2001: Message edited by: Gyrene ]
10. Yeah, but it's not kosher when they can be in my area and dig in! lol Fancy a dug in 88 behind your lines? lol Gyrene
11. Correction: He's not in my set up, but he's definitively dug in Fix or do somefink! Gyrene
12. Our map is no good!!! He has troops in my set up area (From overflow when the computer lines them up before the set up phase) AND this is not a meeting engagement as he was able to dig foxholes. This map needs to be fixed, we're playing the "pit" map. Gyrene
13.
quote:
Other rocket launcher regiments (4th, 5th, 79th, 86th, 51st, 93rd, 99th and 85th) also delivered massed direct fire (emphasis mine) in full (or battalion) strength to repel the massed armoured attacks of the enemy at Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge and in a number of other operations."

14" Naval guns would have nothing on that as far as the "Oh Sh*t!!!" factor goes! Gyrene
14.
quote:
Gyrene of course completely ignores the Guinea Pigs, Marmots and Meercats from the Caucasus!! I wonder what his agenda is?

The Guinea Pigs and Marmots' contributions to the fighting in the Eastern Front are always grossly exaggerated. It is common knowledge that they didn't even join the fighting until the tide had turned and the Germans were retreating, and as far as the Meerkats go, they are not even proper rodents, and are just jumping on the bandwagon, like all their kind, and claiming to have been on the Resistance now that it is safe to do so and they don't want to feel left out. 15. Mine and boy_Recon's Battle in the Moon Crater is started. Too early for any reports. Gyrene
16.
quote:
JohnR. ps gyrene, i waiting for a move from you, or did I screw up on sending you a turn?

John, I'll have it back to you soon. Gyrene
17. I had a bazooka team hidden in a house with 2 German tanks in plain view about 50m away, I guess this overwhelming choice of targets was too much as it went from one to the other as the tanks slowly rolled past and eventually ended up not being able to get a shot at either one of them. This was an "elite" Bazooka team too! Gyrene
18. VonHoff, make sure to have your sound on, you should be able to hear the sound of your vehicles getting bogged, and if your are close enough, also your opponent's. I tried playing without sound a couple of times, and I was amazed at how much difference not being able to hear the various battle sounds made. Gyrene
19. My favorite thing about the ASL manual was its equipment sections, something like that in a CM manual would be sweet. Gyrene
20. Did that vehicle have any opponents in LOS? Sometimes the AI will go hunting on it's own If you have this problem again, give the unit a "hide" order Gyrene
21. Hey Abbott, where've you been? I'll have that Arty guide "one day" Gyrene
22. While the majority of Germans were Hamsters, with a sizeable Gerbil minority, the Russians were mostly Lemmings, with many Shrews and Moles from the Ukraine and the Baltics and Kangaroo Rats from the Gobi Desert and Mongolia. Gyrene
23. ---WARNING! Dumbass comment follows! WARNING!--- Would it be possible to tie down all the rockets to the launcher, add wings to the truck and make a flying machine of some sort by firing all the rockets together? Gyrene
