  1. Two more weeks of this. Two more smegging weeks. Germany is 90 minutes away by plane. Ooooh, I want to torture CDV with huge, long, pointy, stabby things of death. What a bunch of sphincter-chomping retards.
  2. Well, in that case, I'll just follow the crowd rather than making an independent decision. FWIW, my machine completes the processing in about the same time. AMD Athlon 850Mhz, 512MB RAM Alot of factors will affect the speed of processing, not just RAM and CPU. Critical things such as hard disk speed and model, number of other processes running, and other factors such as chipset or CPU temperature. I find a significant speed difference with this model of hard disk (IBM Deskstar 7200RPM with 2MB RAM) over standard models, and they make a huge difference to performance when loading or running programs. Hope that helps.
  3. Oh, I do so love the propaganda on that site. It makes Goebbels look amateurish. Yes, the battle looks like fun, but the presentation of stalinist propaganda gets a little bit yawnworthy.
  4. Originally posted by Chaddy Baby, he who will be riven asunder like a sheet of A4 paper: Oh, boy, are you in trouble. Firstly, you diss me mightily, in the fashion shown above. I am not, repeat NOT a member of the cesspool. I rise mightily above that, in the manner of a wossname, rising above something in a mighty way. Secondly: Has your vacant nonce not heard of time zones? I am going to classify you with my Electric Bike award for being a time-zone-deaf muppet. More importantly - I demand a setup. I demand that it be no fewer than 300 points, and no more than 25000 points. I demand that it take place on a map, and that you bring your lubricating jelly, because, ol buddy ol pal, you're going to need it once my tanks have finished with you. Ship me a setup, and prepare to be bled upon. If by now you do not fear the slaughter that is to come, ask MrSpkr how his game against me fares. I have had so many casualties I am now able to use my dead soldiers as ramparts. Finally, let me say this: I don't subscribe to your cess lunacy. I am quite happy here in my own cell. However, PantyWaister, consider yourself italicised by the Antithicess. And should you find yourself posessed of the nadgers, you too can send me a bitching setup. Make it nice, or I'll come over and have your mum.
  5. My profile has been edited to ensure that all are aware of my new title.
  6. Posted by PantyWaister But of course! I have my plane tickets booked already.
  7. Just think, ten thousand members waving and chanting about a new computer game. It's enough to make you bring up your lunch.
  8. I want to raise a paw for Win2k, and raise two fingers to WinXP - mostly because I don't like having Microsoft spying on me all the time. I got rid of WinXP and went back to 2K, because it's as efficient as XP without the patronising front-end. It's double the price of XP - primarily, I think, because you don't have to 'register' it compared to XP.
  9. You aren't getting anything. No game, no manual, nothing. BFC have used your money to set up the "Chad Harrison Hard Cheese Foundation", and they will be turning up at your house on a weekly basis making sarcastic remarks about how everyone in the world is allowed a copy except you. So.
  10. I have a bottle of Sugar Cane Brandy I picked up whilst on holiday in Barbados this year. I think, maybe some fresh mango, some banana, some coconut milk, and get totally tropical for an authentic Russian Front experience.
  11. I must admit that I'm not overly worried about taking on the run-of-the-mill Russian armour - mainly because their firepower at the beginning of the war is so ineffectual. It's no different to CMBO, and not being worried when you see a Panzer-IV on the battlefield. I'm most pleased by the sight of tungsten rounds for the 75mm gun carried on the Panzer-IV. Am I going to have fun with those.
  12. Hmm. Not too far to drive for a bloke's day out. I wonder what they cost?
  13. ...you think that partial penetration is better than no penetration at all.
  14. Pah. Statement retraction is for jessies. I will send my turn when I'm good and ready. You're not the only one waiting. Have you finished faffing about in the RoW tourney yet? I want to see our group's scores.
  15. If we banned members for being puerile the Peng Thread would be emptier than MrSpkr's posing pouch.
  16. Nice to see the Mong is strong in this one. Where's the padlock when you need it?
  17. Personally, I'd rather see multiplayer TCP/IP for battles (2 or more players per side) than worry about the inclusion of horses or cavalry. Yes, they were there, but then so were the field hospitals. Give me TOTAL MULTIPLAYER!
  18. That ain't no bleedin column. That's a bleedin orde!
  19. I've been playing PBEM for some time now, and have just started trying TCP/IP. The main downsides of TCP/IP over a 56k modem are: 1) Takes a while to transfer turn details, so you need to stick with smaller battles (2,500pts or so) 2) Unless you have a dedicated phone for the modem, you can expect to tie up the line for 1-2 hours, or more, dependent on game and turn length. PBEM is slower and you don't get the same rush that you do with TCP/IP, however.
  20. Machine guns don't perform in CMBO as they would have done in real life. This is rectified in the CM:BB demo by the inclusion of a 'cover arc' command for machine guns (aswell as guns and mortars). Simply click once to fix one end of the arc, and click again to fix the other end. Anything moving into that arc is targetted and fired upon by the machine gun. I found the command to be very effective. - try the Yelnia Stare scenario in the CM:BB demo as Germans and use it. In answer to your other query, there are no MG34's in CM:BO - the CM:BB demo includes them, however.
  21. Yes, excellent read. Here's a couple of choice bits which I found particularly interesting: Significant, I think, that rain or winter affects gun visibility. Do we know if it's possible to model something as vague as this, and if so whether it has been or not? Significant again, I think, for scenarios involving the Sherman (76mm in this chap's case) if this was true for the army as a whole.
