I think the problem is everyone in the UK listening to 2 weeks of posts going "Game is Brilliant", "Game is Great", "Who wants to play me on scenario XXXX" and chewing through their keyboards in frustration I can wait, like everyone else. I just don't want to - again, like everyone else.

You really have two choices. In late-war combat, a Super Pershing will do it (standard Pershing won't). Ideally, however, you should pick the British Sherman Firefly. It really had one of the best guns of the war, and pairs of Fireflies will do an excellent job of barbecuing his King Tigers. The American early-war kit just can't do the job, unfortunately.

Thanks for the update. Don't worry, we don't flame messengers, only Doug Beman.

Go on then. Here's a map of the world. () Point to Russia. Go on, smartypants. Show us all where Russia is on the map.

This message board is full of whiners!

Did someone call? -
I haven't tried but will give it a go.

I can pick and place all units, and so can my opponent. When I'm done I click 'go' and the timer at the top of the screen is replaced with the 'waiting for opponent' message - and that's as far as we get. Both of us have the 'waiting for opponent' message, and no game. Wierd, but there we are. It only happens in quick-battles, never in scenarios.

Am having a funny little buglette in CMBO playing TCP/IP. When I play a scenario, the game runs flawlessly. When I play a quick-battle with force selection on, both sides pick their units and proceed to the game map. Then, we set up. We press 'GO' to indicate we're ready and then the game just sits there. I don't know what it's waiting for. Any thoughts?

ROTFLMAO!! They need to get another Moderator like MadMatt. Then we could have Banning contests, and Big Mother would be watching

Bad title I like the idea, but you need to contact Treeburst155. He has alot of experience of running championships and can point out the big problems with players disappearing, keeping it organised, and so on. You might also want to investigate the Combat Mission Meta Campaign (CMMC) which is doing something similar to what you're talking about.

Alternatively, Wade, you can try using KaZaA or Morpheus. Some forum members have already made their downloaded copy of CM:BB demo available on there.

How is the composer's name spelled? I thought it was Mussorgsky but am happy to be corrected.

Go and ask him, and see if you have any gold teeth left by the end of the conversation. -
Let me repost my bug post: When I captured a German mortar crew, I was able to order the captured mortar crew to 'cover arc' - I'm fairly sure that shouldn't be an option for a captured unit.
-
Hello? Anyone else found this?
-
Playing the Yelnia scenario as Russkies, I captured a surviving member of a mortar crew. I was able to command the captured crewmember as normal, but aswell as move, halt, rotate he still had the 'cover arc' option. You could place the first point of the arc, then the second, but no lines were drawn indicating the arc covered. I think that the Bugette is being able to place a covered arc with a captured enemy mortar crew

Well, I was in GAME in Bluewater yesterday, and it wasn't even on their list of due-out games. You can be sure there were 15 console games, including Final Fantasy MCMXXLLVIII, Tomb Raider 19, Twitch-Fest III, Twitch-Fest Junior II, Pokemon XVII, and a number of others I couldn't be bothered to look at. But - NO Combat Mission. What a bunch of Wankers. Who else is going to be selling it in the UK - because I'm damn sure I don't want my money going near a GAME till.

CMBB "preview" in October CGW
Soddball replied to murpes's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Cult? Fanatical? Us? They must be confusing the foaming inputs of Doug Beman, Michael Emrys and Michael Dorosh with the Counterstrike forums. I know who I'd rather have around. w00t! -
That is very, very funny. Not too far from the truth, either

Well, Doctor Genius, in Ingoland here we don't have no clever ISP's. You have two systems- you either pay a monthly subscription for unlimited access, or you pay for each minute you spend online. However, the unlimited access ones have a 2-hour cutoff - so after 2 hours you have to reconnect. How about you find out the answer before trying to look all superior? How hard is that?

One of the best threads ever...

I still think one of the best threads ever was Rommel22's "Pictures of your pets" one. That was a riot. -
Availability of CMBB Demo from other sources
Soddball replied to kmead's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Well, unfortunately my ISP has a 2-hour disconnect on my 56k modem - so I can download around 25MB in that time. Has anyone who runs KaZaA, Morpheus, Fileshare etc considered plonking it on their shared folder? I would be very grateful -
CMBB Demo - official announcement
Soddball replied to Moon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Why doesn't some kind soul with KaZaA or Morpheus and a fast internet connection stick it on KaZaA. Then the monkeys like me with a 56k modem and a 2-hour cutoff on their ISP would be able to download it properly
