Burned through CMBO in about 2 weeks? Did you try playing any of the scenarios, or did you just watch the intro? You can't 'burn' through a tactical wargame. I'm still playing it 18 months on.

Tch. Don't bother playing Gustav. I still have a turn outstanding from him for a game that dates back to April.

RoW II: The Boots & Tracks Brawl (Part V)
Soddball replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Phew. Nowhere near the top, but at least I wasn't bottom either! I got 2 24ths, a 17th=, a 14th and a 19th. Did anyone else have dire luck as Germans on Polish Push? My AT gun kept missing and then got clobbered withing a couple of seconds, leaving me dead as some doodoos. [ October 04, 2002, 06:19 AM: Message edited by: Soddball ] -
Still waiting for the game, so I can't say anything for sure - but would it make sense for planes which are strafing to use the 'covered arc' CMBB style of attack as opposed to the 'target individual' CMBO style of attack? This might sound odd, but surely the aim of a strafing attack is to affect a line of enemy units, rather than a single one?

Just bought the german CDV-version...
Soddball replied to Schoerner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
"CDV - We apologize, for we are also complete dolts. We delayed the English version just to piss people off. " Looks like they made us growl, and show our teeth too. That was the same snarling rabid pack of gamers that Eric Young had, but they were blue. -
First Game of CMBB - What are you Drinking?
Soddball replied to -Havermeyer-'s topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Well, you're lucky. UK release now postponed another week until October 11th. Honestly, it's ridiculous.    -
4 posts? That's less than not a lot. That's lurking of DOOOOOOM.

What Should Be in the Patch?
Soddball replied to Commissar's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Can we patch CDV please? -
CMBB AAR, Quick Battle. First impressions.
Soddball replied to Abbott's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
What surprised me was how cheap your air support was (75 points for a Henschel 129). That's a huge difference compared to the 300pt+ fighter-bombers in CM:BB. Another thing - when you go back to redo the page, is there any chance you could reduce the file size of the pics? I had to give up after pic 7, my 56k modem couldn't take it! Thanks for posting, though, I appreciate a chance to look at the game. -
You get an 8 out of 10 on my Electric Bike scale

Hey, we just play the game, we don't know what makes it work.

The General Forum is specifically for debates about such matters, although, under BFC's terms and conditions (which you agreed to when you became a member here), you may not flame or incite racial hatred. Should you wish to pursue such discussions, please move them to the General Forum where we will be delighted to join in. Hello, mumsie.

Great read - thanks for taking the time to put it together!

I have 110GB of hard disk space. CM:BO is fine where it is (particularly since, being in the UK, I don't have CM:BB yet and won't have it for another fortnight)

I'm a bit worried by the choice of the words "CMBB starting to dribble in down under". Does that mean what I think it means?

Panther 3d Model is not right.
Soddball replied to George-III's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It could also be that if BFC have changed the actual angle of the views, so view '1' or view '2' now look at the battlefield from a slightly different angle, that could alter the perspective? -
CDV and EU anti-rasicm legistlation
Soddball replied to Tero's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Pascal, do us a favour. You've made your point, every time you've posted, for the last week. Now shut up. You don't like CDV, fine. You aren't happy, fine. Consider your point made. I'm getting tired of scrolling down a page only to find your persistent whining. -
Any die hard CMBOers not buying CMBB?
Soddball replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I'm one of what seems to be a minority who prefer the Western Front. I am still going to buy CM:BB, because I'm excited at the improvements that have been made to gameplay (eg MGs), but I don't doubt that I will keep playing CM:BO. I need it on my hard disk, so that I can rebuild all the CM:BO scenarios I've made in CM:BB -
The Weasel Flies at Dawn....
Soddball replied to Madmatt's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Unless you're in the UK - when it flies shortly after Whitsuntide. -
I hope that this isn't actually the case. I am likely to join the 'burn and torture CDV' party if it is. Any news from our German or American chums on this?

Yes it is possible, but it's extremely tough. Make sure that the tank is buttoned up, otherwise you'll be spotted too quickly. If you can immobilise the tank beforehand, that's good too. Simply rushing a platoon of infantry at a tank and hoping they take it out is a recipe for disaster.
