1. BTW, on top of everything else cool about this contest, that is a brand new screen shot, too, correct?
 2. WBW's To the Last Man gives the Brits a few rounds of 14" arty, too, plus a slew of the Funnies which are a blast to play with. My 14" stuff mostly landed on my own head and cleared firing lanes for the Germans when I was using it, though.
 3. I thought this was a normal, run-of-the-mill work day until I got back to the office and fired up the board. This thread has been a blast reading, thanks for the goodies, BTS. In the interest of keeping things going, hmm, I wonder what a blizzard looks like? Or an ice-bound Opel or PzIII. [ 12-19-2001: Message edited by: Spanish Bombs ]

 4. Looking forward to the first "Sikh Turban Mod".
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: Just in case you are serious, you don't really get the flags, you just split the unclaimed victory points. The flags were both contested. The points for both will therefore be split between you. Treeburst155 out.

Got ya.
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: Combined Arms and Spanish Bombs, Yes, the scoring formula will give one flag to your opponent and one to you. For the reasoning behind all this see page 3 post by JPS here Treeburst155 out.

OK, I get it now. I think I had read that before but hadn't remembered it because thinking about it made my head hurt. But, through the pain, I see logic. Now, the only question is, which flag do I get? I'll take the one on the right.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by CombinedArms: Just what IS the "?" flag steal? I guess my mind isn't gamey enough. I just had a game end with two "?" flags, so I find this particularly relevant. Given one more turn, I think my opponent would have secured one of the flags and I would have secured the other. Would that result in identical scores to the ones we now have (I think it would) or different scores???

Yeah, what he said. Although I would point out that neither of the flags in question in that scenario were the result of gamey rushes, merely the wickedness of WBW making the damn scenario one turn too short. 8. My eyewitness report would be as follows: The only thing disappointing about the evening was that not enough people showed up, but, alas, it was their loss. Lawyer was very gracious and gave me two movies, Memphis Belle and Kelly's Heroes, both of which are classics in my book and will be used as ammunition in trying to talk my wife into buying a bigger screen TV. I will say this about Lawyer, he seems to have overcome the great adversity that was his undergraduate education (perhaps by attending a stellar law school). The Rune/John Candy connection had escaped me at the first Chicago get-together, but the hockey jersey clinches it. Fortunately his the wares he was hawking were somewhat more substantial than the shower-curtain rings Candy was selling in Planes,Trains and Automobiles. I was impressed indeed, but am also sworn to secrecy. I would also add that Berli's sorcerer powers must include the ability to talk his wife into attending computer game drinking fests at establishments like Dick's. My wife scoffed at the notion I was going out, for the second time in just over a month, to talk to guys about "that tank game". No, honey, I'm going there to meet another lawyer. As for the establishment itself, well, suffice it to say that at least one or two of the bras hanging over the bar were of the heavy armor variety. There were very big beers, and while I only had a few, I woke up the next morning with a hell of a headache. As I had tickets to a concert I had to leave before things really got going, but it was a real pleasure to talk to those that made it, and thanks to Rune for not disappointing. If you didn't make it, you should be kicking yourself.
 9. Well, the first one was pretty fun and wouldn't want to miss this one, and can't let Lawyer be the only lawyer there. I have plans to see a concert that night in the city anyway, but that doesn't start until 7:30 and I plan on being fashionably late anyhow. Looking forward to it, but I also wouldn't let my wife anywheres near the shopping areas down there....
 10. I sent a gift copy to a colleague as a thank you for sending business my way about 2 weeks ago. He received it in about 5 days from ordering and it went very smoothly.
 11. 45 minutes for me this morning while I was getting ready for work. My old dial-up connection just makes it so that I appreciate the mods more than you fast download guys. Thanks to Pascal, Manx, Clubfoot, and everyone else who made this possible.
 12. If you tried to put them back up, I'm still getting the error page. (The PzIVs, the Panthers downloaded the other night in about 2 hrs). No big deal, I can wait if they are going elsewhere, but having recently started playing with the CMMOS I can't stop adding to the toys!
 13. Great work. I installed it right away. Unfortunately the only game I have a Churchill in, it is already knocked out, but at least it is a good looking corpse now.
 14. As another Section III representative, I can confirm what my opponents posted above. Cruelty, chaos, casualties (including lost sleep) all ensued from the beginning of this tourney. I am half way through a game w/CombinedArms and just started my final game with TabPub, so I look forward to returning to a normal life in the near future, reintroducing myself to my wife, my daughter and my business partners, all of whom have noticed a "glazed look" on my face that is directly attributable to Wild Bill.
 15. Sounds like a dog that just volunteered for anti-tank mine duty in my book.
 16. And, giving credit where credit is due, Kingfish is the guy who clued me in on the To the Last Man scenario. Thanks. Along the same lines, if you actually do run out of the 25 rounds of ammo, well, then, you've probably wrecked some havoc and had some fun doing it, and there probably wouldn't be much left to knock down anyway.
 17. Possible spoiler to follow, ------------------------------------- but the Wild Bill scenario "To the Last Man" was a blast, and the AVRE's are featured heavily in an urban environment. I played it PBEM and had great fun, but I think they were more useful against infantry/pillboxes in a city than in the typical QB setup.
 18. There is a very good suggested reading list on the CM HQ website, although I always forget where to find it w/in the site. I just started Brazen Chariots by Robert Crisp, about the tank war in Northern Africa. I had read it probably 20 years ago as a kid and didn't really understand the British element to the writing, but it now it has really caught my imagination. So much so that I fell asleep during Game 5 of the World Series last night, but when I finally got off the couch to read before bed, I ended up polishing off about 30 pages.
 19. There was a Greyhound in the latest BoB (episode 9). It sure looked vulnerable to me in terms of open space, much more so than I had thought, but I can definitely see where the commander might take one in the head, even if he was "buttoned".
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Juha Ahoniemi: Spanish Bombs and Tabpub: I hope You guys kept the Fog Of War about ROW! There is always a danger of information leak while knocking out beers...

Don't worry Juha, tournament integrity was maintained. Aside from discussion of the aforementioned scenario which everyone in our section has finnished, we just spoke about generalities, like "That Wild Bill is a real sumbitch", and "This is Juha's secret weakness." Anyway, there were 5 or 6 other witnesses there, and that would have been a lot of bodies to have to get rid of, even for a couple of Chicagoans.
 21. Well, I had enough explaining to my wife to justify going out for beers with guys I share a computer game in common with, but fortunately I do not have to explain to her that I am going to something called "sauna day". As for the Chicago meeting, much beer was consumed, experiences shared, longing for CMBB expressed, and of course, we poked fun at fellow BTS board denizens. Suffice it to say that I went home and fell asleep in the middle of Band of Brothers. One lesson learned: the one sure way to clear the bar of CM players in the midst of heated discussion: plug in the damn karaoke machine. I think the first song they were going to play was the ewok victory dance from Jedi.
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: ...., we didn't even have member numbers until the software version was upgraded a few months ago so that BTS would have a fair way of announcing the release of CM2 to the forum members.

LOL Ryan, literally. This one has a life of its own apparently.
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: I've an interesting development to report. It appears Section 3 is finished with, "We Can't Wait". They've all played it. Should I give them any information on that scenario?

This must be what an addict feels like. Just a taste, Treeburst, just a taste, and I promise I won't ask for any more...
 24. Hook, line and sinker. Although, I did check my own # when I saw that, too.
