  1. Wasn't the bren tripod threads from before the forum wipe out? I think I was thirteen or fourteen back then. I could also remember Mr.Dorosh as being a mainstay of the forums, what got him banned?
  2. Just a clarification: I've only had experience with Airsoft red dots, but I have had practice with the real M16 with iron sights. On a side note: Where did the edit button go?
  3. I only have experience with cheap Airsoft replicas, in small scale airsoft battles, but I'll pitch in anyway. The green dot is way more visible than the red in daylight conditions, Although I still prefer the holographic reticle sights, my favorite one being a "T" projection. I usually "lose" the red dot a lot, the green sometimes, and the reticles never. Basically, the red dot is a bit faster than iron sights, the green a whole lot faster, and the reticles are just point and shoots. And as for video games, I actually dislike how movement slows down when aiming down these kinds of sights. I could actually move pretty fast and still shoot accurately at ranges of 5-20m (anything beyond that and the BB's lose a lot of energy and have to be lobbed in big arcs). From my limited experience using a vanilla M16 (The rifle, not the halftrack), this should hold true for 5.56mm weapons just as long as you know how to shoot properly and you don't shoot full auto. I do understand that they have to do it for game balance, but I could think of some other ways how to make holographic projection sights balanced.

My 2nd caterpillar suspension test http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1428414 My explosion tests -never quite figured out how control the energy http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1496843 http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1428328 http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1428414 A little moving conveyor [edit: looks like wicky and I had almost the same idea] http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1395019 A tunnel boring machine http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1443355 U-turn crawler -a result of many suspension systems tests http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1440545 Yeah. I usually do this when bored in class. hehe
  5. I live in the Philippines and airsoft is getting pretty big here. It's mostly an honesty system, although zombies (people who are known to be hit but not admit it) tend to be "accidentally" shot with half a mag's worth of bb's at close range. ~400fps with a 0.2g bb is our current "standard". Pretty good at cqb scenarios and workable in outdoor games. You could basically hit someone hard at any range that wouldn't need magnifying optics when aiming for the head; any farther than that and you have to compensate for gravity and wind -and also hit them several times just to let them realize that they are actually being hit . It is sometimes weird though- during one game I just stood in the middle of a clearing, as I could easily see and dodge incoming bb's.
  6. GTAIV on the PC Stalker: Clear Sky -Hopefully a post apocalyptic GTA3/Morrowind/Deus Ex combination Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway -Loved the earned in blood, even if it felt like a puzzle game at times Fallout 3. It's Fallout with the makers of The Elder Scrolls trying to be faithful to the original. Really looking forward to that one.
  7. How about if we could just spend research chits on individual unit capabilities? That would give the player the power to tailor-fit his units to how he likes to use them. And with this, how bout adding diplomacy to the research part? Something like "hey research people, I want a 30mm gatling gun-armed twin engine CAS aircraft.... and I wanted it yesterday! Give it to me next turn or I'll bite your head off!!"... I'll stay off the sugar now...
  8. How about adding mechanization as a tech or an 'investment'? The higher you are are the more you invest, the better the supply of your units, the farther they can go in a turn and the farther from a city they can op from (assuming that the sc1 op-from anywhere will be replaced). Just my 2 cents.
  9. Puma althougH I rarely use it, I just look at it... Otherwise it oughta be the Panther, Wespe, Hummel, M10, M18 and M7.
  10. I'm no grog (or an adult for that matter) but I think the flying tuerrets is just fine. I only have the demo. Anyway- they don't seem to do that often on first round hits. But I have seen turrets get blown off after the AFV has burned for a while... although I have no idea if thats due to rounds cooking off or the ICM that's blanketing the area. Anyway doesn't the M1 use depleted uranium AP rounds? I've read they're become very hot (whether theyre just hot or become hot on firing or impact I don't know), and since russian tanks stow ammo inside, I think the possibility of having a really big explosion is high. I've never yet had an M1 turret blown off though. And back on the CM aspect, does CM model infantry casualties due to having a tank knocked out near the supporting infantry? edit: bits of the tank or of the armor where the round penetrated do fly off right? like I said I'm no grog... 11. Thanks again for replying guys. Could I quote that Grisha?=)
  12. Thanks again for all the replies guys, It's already 12am here so I don't know if I'm thining correctly, but I guess I'll just create a synthesis of what you huys said. Is the battle of Lepanto where the founder lost his leg? thanks again. G'nyt
  13. Thanks for replying guys. Thanks Philippe for the comment and the story, could I put that in my write-up? So does that mean the objective flag of CM is still part of strategy? and the tactics part is the company A move to woods then run towards building A while spotter C lays down smoke, then kill occupants of building and defend flag? Just clarifying. What would be the defining characteristics that separates strategy from tactics? I could say that I'm moving Squad B to point D because I need that hill covered. Icm197, totally forgot bout those, thanks. Firefly, thanks also, but actualy I dont get it, may you explain? Mies, I'm confused, I thought operational level was concerned with campaigns? thanks. (somehow I have the feeling my thanks are redundant)
  14. I'm making a webpage for our computer class and the topic that was assigned to me was about wargame tactics. I'm now posting my short write-up here for your scrutiny, (suggestions, violent reactions are welcome ): I was also thinking if I should state that artillery is the queen of the battlefield as a basic. Our computer teacher also happens to be a Jesuit (who happens to be deeply involved in Zen and has some torture devices, but that's beside the point ), so I was also thinking of how basic tactics could actually apply to basic everyday life. again, thanks for even reading.
  15. And another what-if that would need a longer time period: What-if, as allies, after defeating nazi germany (or even before that), you actually decide to go further east and oust the commies out of Russia? (I understand this game is based loosely on world war two when it comes to what happens when, but hey, why not?)
